Ultimate Collection Content

Quick question: Is the content of the Bucharest DVD in this collection in any way different from the separately available official DVD? Or is it exactly the same edit with the same sound mix etc.?

Thank you. :)

other than the exclusion of 'blame it on the boogie', 'human nature' and the official version of 'p.y.t', I found it to be quite comprehensive and well chronicled. It was fascinating to hear the evolution of certain songs. some rarities appeared commercially available for the first time. if there were any leftover outtakes from this collection, they may have been reconsidered to be reworked for future releases.

Thanks, but I was asking about the Bucharest concert DVD (that’s disc 5). Not the song collection itself. :)

I was responding to the original thread post.

Ha ha, I see, my bad.

Does anyone have an answer to my question, though? To clarify: I own the Ultimate Collection, and what I’d like to know is if the Bucharest concert included there is in any way different from the official DVD that’s separately available. I’m asking if there’s a reason to buy it twice, other than packaging.

How people feel about the quality? I read for some songs it was very good compared to other projects like remasters, re-issues etc.

Ultimate Collection sound quality was really bad. Probably the most compressed his stuff has been apart from b25
Interesting...even the unreleased ones like 'On the Line', 'Beautiful Girl'? If so, are there are better quality leaks then?

I honestly think of all the unreleased stuff that appeared on it, they could have done a better job adding more to this, or just hanging on to everything for future releases. I mean, The Way You Love Me & Sunset Driver both appeared on it, and eventually got re-released on other projects (Michael & Thriller 40 respecfully)

They want us to forget The Ultimate Collection. I'm more than happy to.

During some research I stumbled on this short interview MJ did, apparently on October 12, 2004. I haven't found any indication that audio of it has been released. The album was briefly mentioned.

...
Michael Jackson: Oh, I’m holding up pretty well, day by day. I’m holding up pretty well.

Lee Bailey: I always wonder how you deal with everything?

MJ: I don’t know. I don’t know. You just pray and keep going. Persevere.

LB: Now are you able to work [on music] while you’re going through all of this?

MJ: Yes, I do.

[BAIN STEPS IN]

Raymone Bain: We have a new CD coming out. “Michael Jackson the Ultimate Collection,” due Nov 16, [with] 57 tracks, 13 new songs, a 64-page booklet, and never-before-released concert footage. And he’ll be out promoting that.

LB: Really…..[laughs]. You’re not afraid, literally, of going out and promoting it?

MJ: Noooo, are you kidding. No, no, never.

LB: And you have 13 new songs, you said?

MJ: Yes, these are some of the songs from previous albums. When I do an album, I usually write like 60 to 70 songs, sometimes more. These are some of the songs that didn’t make the album, but they’re very good ones. And there are a couple of brand new ones, too.

I always thought there was a purpose to the ultimate collection and we would eventually get at least a vol2

When the Ultimate Collection was released it was the most amazing gift for the fan community. For the first time we had demos and unreleased songs, a really cool booklet AND Dangerous concert all in one release.

There were two different colour covers. The White cover was USA only release, the black cover was rest of world release.

Back then cds were how the majority of us consumed music.

@AlwaysThere, as you can see, you were wrong for one more time.

You kept insisting in your posts that Michael Jackson was not really involved in the making of that box set.

It has been said that Michael Jackson and his record company released a white cover only in USA for symbolic reasons.

Given that the white colour symbolizes innocence, purity and goodness, Michael Jackson and his record company wanted to show to the USA people (who mostly believed that he was guilty) that Michael Jackson was innocent.

A similar thing happened also on a specific day during his trial when the Jackson family was dressed in white.

Yes I know about the wearing of white in Santa Maria, I was following all the updates on the fan forums and I went to Santa Maria and was in the court, not on the "white clothes day" though a different day.
