I was just watching Today show and they said that Katherine will be talking to Oprah about confronting Michael about his drug use. However let's take this with a grain of salt, they might have been repeating a tabloid article.

Now just to be clear (if this is truly the case), didn't Ms. Katherine ALREADY say something opposite to what The Today Show is reporting? If The Today Show's reporting is correct, Ms. Katherine is changing her story now. Is that correct?

Today show just aired a snippet from the interview.

the below is approximately what they said (it's not word by word)

Oprah : did you talk to Michael about his addiction?
Katherine: I did once when I first heard about it. He denied it.
Oprah gives an ahh
Katherine : I said to him I don't want to see you overdose one day. And he said my own mother doesn't believe me.

I am sreaming so loudly. I knew it. I knew it. I don't understand their motive behind all of this. If what Gayle says is correct, and if Katherine falls into Oprahs' leading questions and paints MJ in a negative way, all to sell some book, I will have a conniption. Seriously! I was still "trying" to hold out hope that Ms. Katherine would not fall for Oprah's tricks. I was holding out hope that Ms. Katherine would keep this interview positive.

Those who were thinking that Ms. Katherine would be putting Ms. Winfrey "in-check" are going to be sadly disappointed.

Is she changing her story because of her lawsuit against AEG?

I guess there is the very small hope that maybe Katherine will say, "But I did believe him and I still do. I didn't see anything wrong with him as far as drugs." Maybe she will tell the truth??? Maybe she will be the one that sticks up for him??

Of course if she denies drugs Oprah will not use that clip. It is counterproductive to what she wants to portray.

I have a small hope (a very small one) that this will still turn out ok. Please, please, turn out ok!

Once again Oprah Winfrey is getting exactly what she wanted and this time she's getting it from Katherine Jackson.

No offense, but the Jackson's are just not savvy enough to be doing interviews. I can see it now, Mrs. Jackson will be putty in Oprah's hands and only the drug related sound-bites will be replayed over and over again.

Corey Haim's mother was fully aware of her son's drug history, but that woman fought "tooth & nail" to protect her son from the media. I was hoping the Jackson's would have taken a page from her book. My bad for thinking that way!

What she said on Dateline needs to match up with what she said to Oprah Winfrey. If not, she will definitely be called on it and her book will collect cobwebs.

And more importantly, the attorneys for AEG. Just like Murray's legal team, AEG's legal team is waiting and watching for any contradiction they can use. (And in my opinion, Murray's CIVIL team is already ahead of the game, because of Joe and Oxman's rush to file everything under the sun.)

This is exactly why any attorney worth his salt would advise their client to stay quiet, i.e. "NO INTERVIEWS, which can come back and haunt you at a later date." And I'm more than positive the Mr. Streisand has advised Katherine that interviews at this time are not a good idea.

But, well, she has to sell that book.

Again with the drug talk? She could say painkillers or whatever else but everyone knows "drugs'' has a more negative ring to it.
If Katherine changes her story I will give up hope for her and the kids. To me that would show they are indeed being influenced by others who do not have their best interest at heart.
It's just a shame that they all seem so willing to go along with the taloid version of events instead of using the actual autopsy report as their source.
And all of this just for a book....?

Thing is if the interview is edited to include negative stuff it will totally overshadow all the good news of the album next week. The media will run with that instead of the positive news of course. Just a shame really.

Not to mention the media/general public will probably pick apart his children once again (is he the father? do they look like one of the people who's claiming them?)
I don't think it's fair to the children to have to go through all of that. They may not be aware that those things could very well start to happen after this thing airs.

Now to be fair we haven't seen the interview yet so maybe we're all wrong and she did stand up for Michael in this interview. (eventhough hope is fading a little)
I still don't think I can handle seeing this interview straight away.

I won't handle it if this goes bad.

It would take another slow convalescence to live if I hear more bad things. Not when on the same occasion, those dear grieving children are on TV to speak about their dear deceased father.

And if it's true - the March Schaffel influence.... I don't even know what to say, that man is evil incarnate, one of the most evil beings that had ever had contact with Michael. That snake has got to stay away from the children, especially.

I saw the Today show snippet by chance and really they stopped at a certain point. After Katherine says she told Michael it would break her heart or kill her if she gets a call saying he overdosed etc. Then he says my own mother doesn't believe me they stopped the clip. What did she say to that? Michael did have issues a long time ago that he even admitted so maybe she heard it again and asked him to make sure he was okay.

We saw previously that woman asked inproper (sp?) questions to Michael and Lisa so I'm pretty sure she did the same with Mrs. Jackson.

I have found this on an other site, but I don't know if true :

According to Gayle King (on her satellite radio show) Oprah did NOT "court" or seek out the Jackson's in any way, it was Marc Schaffel (porn producer/KJ biz partner) who CONTACTED the Oprah team. Oprah & her team were planning an episode on "Teen Heartthrobs" (which coincidentally aired today) and when Oprah was a kid her "crush" was Jackie Jackson. The ONLY call Oprah's team made was to Jackie to see if he would participate.
Days later the Oprah producer assigned to the Jackie Jackson segment received a phone call and faxed letter from Marc Schaffel on behalf of Joe & Katherine Jackson pitching an interview for KJ's book about MJ. THE OPRAH TEAM REJECTED THE PITCH FROM MARC SHAFFEL, JOE, & KJ saying thanks but no thanks.
A few days after Oprah's team turned them down Marc Schaffel contacted them again to say that "Mr. & Mrs. Jackson would 'sweeten' the deal and allow Oprah an 'exclusive' interview w/ the children of MJ if she would agree to feature KJ on her show." According to Gayle, there was MUCH debate between the producers whether or not to do the show. Gayle said the Oprah team is taking great care in the way they are featuring the kids. She said Schaffel made it clear to producers that the Jackson's were willing to leverage the children to promote their biz ventures to other outlets.

Please, please, please tell me this is not true!?!?:bugeyed 'cause if it is, it would be such a betrayal to not only Michael but his children!

You bring up another interesting point.

Ms. Katherine says that "she HEARD it." Heard it from whom, would be my question.

We all know that out of everybody in the Jackson family, Michael spent the most time with his mother. So my question would be, why would she need to hear it from somebody else. She was around Michael enough to have seen something, if there was something to see, in my opinion.

Sounds like, once again, somebody was whispering in Ms. Katherine's ear. I wonder who that person is?
