by VH1 I think. Well what is weird is that for example, BOB MARLEY was #50 whereas Take That was #8. So that is ... lame. As for Madonna,someone asked , she was #17. Still kinda ridiculous, dontcha think? Take That above these 2, gimme a break.
 
DUMB. How is George Michael an eternal legend. What a joke.

Depeche Mode I can see being high on the list cause their visonairies in their own right. But Michael is clearly more of an "eternal legend" than anyone.

WTF? What are you guys talking about?! George Michael IS a legend. The man has had SEVERAL hits and accomplishments in the last 30 years.
He's one of the best acts of the 20th and 21th centuries

LOL @ people mad George is higher than Michael considering this is an EUROPEAN list, we should be lucky they would even consider him in the top five. Y'all need to let that s**t slide. I love Michael & George equally by the way. ;)

Are you SERIOUS?! Man..... How can a boy band be above a LEGEND like Bob Marley? That is a crime!

This list is also a crime. George Michael above MJ?! George Michael can't even get a hit anymore but I wanna get his book that is coming out next year. Anyway, DM, I have heard of them but I am not a fan of them. They are above MJ - crazy. However, these lists are crazy.

George Michael actually had a hit single back in 2006 and his greatest hits album was #1 all around Europe and Asia. His 25Live Tour was one of the highest grossing tours of 2006 and 2007 and was the first artist to play in the reconstructed Wembley Stadium

His last hit in the US was in 2004
 
If the list is European, then why Presley is #1? Michael Jackson was way bigger in Europe.

Ok, I see :) The whole list is just one point of view, no need to be angry for Michael being #5, I think it's a good job after all :yes: And don't you agree we can't be quite impartial when it comes to Michael's positions on charts ;) Of course we'd like to see Michael being #1 on every list, but like I said.. the list is just one point of view.
 
Was Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Diana Ross, and Elton John on the list?
 
Although I certainly think that MJ should be top 3, I do think that the amount of people who claim to be unfamiliar with Depeche Mode is quite surprising. This is arguably one of the biggest bands of the last 30 years, together with U2. They were trailblaizers in their genre and they've had countless hits and hugely successful tours.

That list is a joke, seriously. I like GM and DM, they are both great artists and I enjoy there music, but there is NO WAY that they are No. 3 & 4. Ever.
 
What does a BLACK MAN have to do to get the recognition he deserves? I mean what? VH-1, tell us what a black man has to do to defeat Elvis. I want to know. Exactly what did simple and plain Elvis do to deserve the #1 spot on your STUPID chart?
 
I like both Depeche Mode and George Michael, but I definitely think MJ should rank higher than them on any list! That being said, it's just another list.
 
referred to vstreet's post. First, he must do what he's supposed to do to fit into the whole system. secondly, he must not have anything which the whites deemed their valuable heritage JUST to prevent himself from being a target.
No matter how GREAT he is, even if he sold gazillion copies of album, break every record there is to break, he can only remain at no 3 coz the first and second position are reserved for their hero!! so nothing can be done about it.

So what if a lot of people rank Elvis or the Beatles higher than Michael? Picking the greatest artist or the most "eternal legend" or the whatever is at least somewhat subjective. There is nothing wrong with some people (white or otherwise) preferring someone else to MJ in the "greatest ever" top spot on a list. It's a matter of opinion. And I think it's offensive to start referring to people as "the whites" and "their valuable heritage" - a lot of Michael's most committed fans are white and as far as I know none of "us whites" are plotting against MJ's ranking on a meaningless list.
 
i dont hold any stock in these lists as they are usually made to fill a gap in a paper/magazine,fill a few minutes of dead time on tv,are "not ever actually voted for by fans" have no effect on status & have absolutely no value or effect on a persons career & are forgotten about in less then a week just in time for another "whos hot,whos not" list.
theirs really no point.
ive got nothing against depeche mode or george michael,but the depeche mode fan who's helped put this list together feels hard done by for his favorite band not receiving the recognition he feels they've been robbed of 'bless his insecure little sole' is living in dreamland & perhaps sometimes they try a little "too hard" to appear credible when in fact they have the opposite effect:lol:

Nothing. Its 'The King of Rock and Roll' propaganda that has been perpetuated to the point of redundancy and cliche.. He stole black music and style, simple as that. The stance that Elvis was somehow an innovator (before anyone did anything, Elvis did everything?) is a long told LIE myth for 3 decades since his death.
