What's the max you think Invincible could have sold overall

With Cry as a single for 9/11, Invincible would have been more successful, because the lyrics fit:

Somebody shakes when the wind blows
Somebody's missing a friend, hold on
Somebody's lacking a hero
And they have not a clue
When it's all gonna end

Primarily because he already had a charity single? Furthermore, WMCIG seems to have been written in the 90s, but he sat on it while waiting for the right disaster to come along - that's probably why the song didn't do well.

Terrorist attacks are not opportunities. Nobody should be using that to "help" an album.

Although not a 9/11 charity single, the 2001 remake of "What's Going On" was pretty similar to "What More Can I Give" in that it featured a bunch of artists coming together to record a song about peace. It wasn't a big hit at all, only peaking at no.27.

It may be part of why Sony balked at releasing "What More Can I Give". There was already an all-star philanthropic song released that year, and it basically flopped in the US. Sony figured that "What More Can I Give" would've done even worse, so they canceled it.

Cry as a charity single, why not? This would've helped the victims and Invincible.

"Cry" was planned to be a single in the US, but it was canceled after it failed radio testing. It flopped in the countries it was released in, too.

Cry is just more of the same. And R. Kelly preferred to sing his best songs himself.
