Where does it go from here?

This is not meant to be asked in a bad way, really. I am wondering the long term legacy of Michael Jackson, and if time will make detractors look to this man in a better light as time goes on. I do not have a crystal ball, but been thinking about it a lot lately.

The news and rumors regarding MJ have not died down much because of the pending investigation of the doctor, the results of the autopsy, and all the rest of it, but eventually, those things will come to a conclusion for better or worse.

What I am really interested in figuring out is legends come in different flavors such as Sinatra, Elvis, Chaplin and even some infamous ones like Arbuckle.

The difference between MJ and Elvis and others before MJ, is that MJ's life is very well documented.

Whatever the media does now, or later they can not escape the fact that everything MJ ever did is documented. His career, his personal life, even the truth about the allegations.

Thanks to modern technology, the people of the Earth all have the same opportunity to learn about Michael in a way you could not learn about Elvis or John Lennon.

And Michael has millions of fans who will all work to keep this, and save it for future generations.

I am making safe copies of my entire collection, making sure it will never vanish.

Thanks to YouTube and the internet in general, Michael's legacy is secured for all time.

Michael's legacy will live on past the investigation and sensationalism.....

look at it this way...they have been calling him a pedo for almost 16years... and on 25Jun the whole world stopped.............and millions many even billions across the globe were in mourning...grief stricken like they lost a relative....

its deep...and maybe that is why the media tries so hard...

but Michael is large.........his talent and humanitarianism are large.......

when you see what people are doing in so many different countries to pay him tribute....it is touching...

I read this week that the country of Jamaica had millions of their citizens sign and write
condolenscences to the Jackson family............that says alot about how Michael touched people....

and we fans have to do our part too.....every August 29 and June 25 we need to be doing something...

It is funny you posted this thread because it seems as though this question is on alot of peoples minds lately. Just about an hour ago My husband and I had this same conversation. although we differ on our opinion's of what Michael's legacy will be, should be. It differs from person to person. I believe Michael's legacy should be a positive one in the way that he was a beautiful person all the charity work he has done he gave from the heart, he loved from the heart. He broke many barrieres with his genious musical talent, he always left us wanting more. He was a great Daddy, So if anyone ever askes me this question again this is just what I will tell them. where does it go from here? my feeling is that michael's legacy will be part musical genius part controversial person based on how his life played out from the 90's to the 00's. for future generations its hard to say because if the global predications about global warming, rising unemployment, ecological disaster come true, i have the feeling they will be more concerned about the state of the planet than the luxury of what a celebrities legacy is. but one footnote, some specatators say in the future george w bush will be viewed more favorably than he is at the moment, so taking that analogy, then michael jackson should also fare better than he does right now.

I agree that as time goes by MJ's thrill will increase, but I just don't think that right now it's as bad so as to say that "it will certainly improve in the future". As some said, at his death Michael was overwhelmingly acknowledged as a genius, probably rised in sales to the point of being the artist of the year worldwide, and touched the heart of millions who still grieve. There is of course a part of people that still focus on the negative crap, but those people always exist. There is always a portion of public opinion that has different views. the difference in Michael's case is that they have alot of bs to recycle. But this doesn't change the overall picture..
