Making a medley including 2 iconic nr 1 hits is kind of ridiculous in the first place imo.He got rid of this number later on.

What is even more ridiculous is that Michael completely dropped Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough from the setlist after the Triumph tour and it only returned in the form of a lip-synced medley for a few concerts during the History tour.Making a medley including 2 iconic nr 1 hits is kind of ridiculous in the first place imo.
Well I don’t mind that really IF he had dropped thriller songs from the bad tour and bad songs from the dangerous tour etc But neglecting DSTYGE only feels indeed very weird as it is truly iconic. What is even more ridiculous is that Michael completely dropped Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough from the setlist after the Triumph tour and it only returned in the form of a lip-synced medley for a few concerts during the History tour.
A song that was the one of the first to truly showcase Michael’s talent as a songwriter and a song that was an iconic number 1 hit deserved way better.
Yeah it's odd he dropped it after triumph. I would trade WDAN on the bad tour for DSTYGE lol. What is even more ridiculous is that Michael completely dropped Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough from the setlist after the Triumph tour and it only returned in the form of a lip-synced medley for a few concerts during the History tour.

Perhaps he found it difficult to sign it live, due to the falsetto.Yeah it's odd he dropped it after triumph. I would trade WDAN on the bad tour for DSTYGE lol.
I don’t think it was weird in the slightest. It was meant to contain his biggest hits, which it did.MSG 2001 had the definite weirdest. A couple Thriller tracks, The Way You Make Me Feel, the big Dangerous cut Black or White, a J5 melody, and You Rock My World. I don't include the non MJ performances.
Well why skip YANA, and the other 4 BAD tracks, and not do anything from off the wall? None of the compilations do that.I don’t think it was weird in the slightest. It was meant to contain his biggest hits, which it did.
The word I would use is disappointing. We all knew what songs Michael would perform and there were no real surprises.MJs setlists were kinda horrible after Bad. Dangerous tour in particular wasn't Dangerous enough.
HIStory was way better actually. It's just, lipsynching.

Except Shaggy.
That was because he had many business meetings at that time, and as a result he did not have much time to rehearse for that tour.Dangerous tour in particular wasn't Dangerous enough.
The HIStory Tour set list has some very issues.HIStory was way better actually.
I remember thousands of fans booing Michael when D.S. started playing, they all chanted we want heartbreak hotel and a 2nd run of wanna be starting something! He also chose to perform (on certain dates) the rather obscure 'D.S.' song, or even the 'Come Together' cover song, which were choices that seemed to have perplexed his fans who attended those concerts.

Because there is a limited number of songs you can do in such a special. When you have so many hits, it’s very hard to include all of them. The songs chosen for the 30th anniversary were perfect, in my opinion, and easily his most recognizable. “You Rock My World” doesn’t count because that was done initially in a “spontaneous manner” and it was meant to give the fans a taste of the new album.Well why skip YANA, and the other 4 BAD tracks, and not do anything from off the wall? If he sings the same songs and “copy-pastes” the set-list, it’s a problem. If he doesn’t sing a song he sang on all the other tours, and instead includes a track from the album he was promoting, it’s a problem. For example, he did not perform at all the 'Man In The Mirror' song, which was one of his biggest hits.
Look who you are talking to.If he sings the same songs and “copy-pastes” the set-list, it’s a problem. If he doesn’t sing a song he sang on all the other tours, and instead includes a track from the album he was promoting, it’s a problem.
Can you ever be satisfied?
It is very hard, you're right. I'm not gonna say they're perfect but they are all sensible. It's just not all of what we're used to. As a demonstration of his live touring, it makes the most sense, I'll see it that way.Because there is a limited number of songs you can do in such a special. Well, hey, I can't fault your opinions. They're not any worse than SmoothGangsta's tbh.Performing songs from the 'HIStory' album on the HIStory Tour is not odd.
But performing 'D.S.' and 'Come Together' on the HIStory Tour is odd.
Besides, the on stage performance of 'D.S.' in particular is not good at all because:
Michael Jackson basically lip-syncs the chorus.
Michael Jackson at one point even suggests with his hand that Thomas Sneddon should kill himself (an unacceptable gesture on the singer's part, by all accounts).
The man with the mask (who is dressed in black) makes no sense.
'2 Bad' would have been a good choice (on the HIStory Tour), especially with its brand-new dance routines/choreography (as appeared in his 'Ghosts' film).Well, hey, I can't fault your opinions. They're not any worse than SmoothGangsta's tbh.
I would've preferred Tabloid Junkie or This Time Around, or 2 Bad would've been quite cool. Even just incorporating the mime dance of Childhood, something like that would've been quite cool. And add a lot of variety. Unfortunately MJ just did not wanna be there.
The vocals you hear under the playback are not the same as live singing when he could hear himself. There's a notable difference, not just because of whatever ailments he had going on at the time. Though some are occasionally pretty good, and there's potential there. It would be better if he sang live at rehearsals and they used those.Surely from the hundred odd concerts of the HIStory tour, they recorded his playback vocals for each song when he was sounding good. They’d have to. I mean why wouldn’t they?
Dangerous chorography is really complex, so it would be hard to focus on that while trying to sing at the same time. And Jam is already hard to sing even without all the dancing. Speaking of Jam, Wembley 1992 is one of the greatest performances he ever did.
oh, I'm already there! I am obsessed. I usually watch Bremen. Can't stand Bucharest. Rubbish camera angles. Editing is for sh#t. But Bremen I love although haven't watched for months - too many distractions, most recently Dream Away. It's true
