Xscape General Discussion

Re: News and discussion about possible upcoming MJ album

I just requested LNFSG on 7 stations via the following link on Rihanna's home page. It is super easy to do. As the link takes you to a pre-filled request page, it literally only takes a few seconds per request. You just have to click the box for LNFSG and enter a name and the code at the bottom of the page. I didn't have to enter any other information including my email address! Come on people, let's make this happen! Both the song and album need our help, grass roots style.

FYI: I don't even live in the US but it doesn't matter. I was able to easily submit my request!

^What kind of thing is that? Why would you say something like that about the type of thinking that goes on in someone's country? Your comment reminds me of when I was in college. In the Spanish class the professor said that since the type of building we were talking about was new, there was no single word in Spanish for it. When that happens 2 words are joined together to make a word. Then, some student of another culture said, "what kind of language is that; they don't even have a word for that type of building." Then she sniggered to her friend. There were some Spanish/Latino students in the class and thank goodness they did not hear. I find these statements very distasteful in the least, and I think some of us need a course on cultural diversity.

Exotic I know how you feel about listening to him. I just clicked on the exact point in the video and stopped as soon after I got the statement. Cold play guy was talking about who influenced him and mentioned Michael Jackson. Stern was astonished and said he did not like Michael Jackson, to which the cold play guy responded that Stern was an idiot. The cold play guy said he liked the fact everywhere he goes people know about Michael or words to that effect.

Clearly, you haven't been in tune with Chinese politics recently.

Atlas' comment was pretty fair considering their recent history and the fact that he was referring to Chinese government and not the people. Why are the Chinese blocking the album though? Is it just a technicality or does the Chinese government really have something against Michael? @mkgenie.

I can't stop listening to this album, its just so addicting. All these gems mashed into one wonderful album! I especially love the 2014 mix of Xscape & Chicago (those vocals).

This has nothing to do with politics, and yes I know about China's internal policies since grade school to present. You do not make statements about the thoughts of heads in a country being backward because there are Chinese people who may be offended. Even the word "backward thinking" is so politically incorrect that no one here should condone it. No one. Whether the politics is not what we want it to be is another matter and my comment was made in response to a specific comment made by someone. It has nothing to do with politics. I did mention to you before that you have to see comments in a systematic way where a response follows another response. However, I notice you still have a problem with understanding this. PM me and I will teach it to you. You can choose what days you want the lesson.

Now back to Xscape.

OnirMJ/B] Thanks for that list and I am glad you put directions. I couldn't do the radiosamo one because I can't find the circle. Is it because the bar is completely filled up.

Eh.
Backwards.
And yes, this IS about politics. I am referring to the strange way of running things over there, not making a statement about Chinese people (as you're strangely trying to make me sound like).

Are you fine with other countries that stone people for being gay, or sent to jail for voicing political opinions, or turning a blind eye to abuse of women?
THERE ARE ACTUALLY PLACES IN THE WORLD WHERE THESE THINGS ARE CONSIDERED NORMAL.

Oh wait, you're right! It's okay for stuff like that to happen if that's the way the that particular countries legal system works. Not backwards or archaic at all and should be respected.
-_-

This morning, I requested the song on 50 top 40 stations via the above link. Super easy to do. Took less than 20 minutes

I think Chicago should be released as a single now! It's gaining popularity in the US.

Good work!! Keep up the positive and productive activity. We want Xscape to continue to sell and keep its global edge.

Paris that was something I was surprised by also, that the big stores like Best Buy did not have a big poster and play the album at least on the first day of release. I guess some stores do not play songs. They have the TVs blasting to make people buy them, so they could do the same for new albums like Xscape, and blast the songs too. Anyway glad to see Xscape's impact on pushing Michael's pre-09 works back on the charts or higher on the charts.

It certainly seems to be doing well on the R/B side. However, the album version may be too edgy for top 40. Perhaps they can create a more pop friendly radio edit?

ABC good morning America showcased a 12 yr old ballet dancer with a very uplifting tale about his inspiration MJ. He was clueless about MJ before 2009.

I did, too, though probably less than 20 stations. While doing that, I usually stream "Love Never Felt So Good" on Spotify or YT (instead of my own CD) - this way it counts towards charting.

For me, this album is really a treat. Although I love all of the original versions, I am simply astonished by the work that Timbaland and company did with the updated versions. Regardless of any affects/techniques they used, the essence of Michael is clearly evident in all of the songs. This is what makes Michael so special and unique. He doesn't need auto-tune or sound effects to convey an emotion. All he has to do is open his mouth and let the words flow. He is truly amazing in this regard. When he sings something, you always have the feeling that he means every word, every syllable. I will always cherish his music both old and new

Get to your local supermarket and rearrange the CDs so Xscape is at the front, remember Xscape was ahead by just 15 copies this week in the UK, so it could make a difference. I'm off to Sainsbury's!

2009 the 8 yr old heard of MJ death driving home from school. He was not exposed to music, and never heard of MJ. He got home and MJ was wall to wall tv. He watch MJ videos and learned how to dance.

He is a very impressive dancer.

'Xscape' just keeps on getting better and better, i'm absolutely adoring the updated versions.. extremely respectful reproductions if you ask me.. Michael's art and original insight of his brilliance is well represented but also brought to the new generation! i would question anyone who doesn't admire his vocal soiree when i play them one of these tracks.. especially the aggressive vocal tracks! slave to the rhythm is flawless.. imo they should create a dark story line, highlighting the woman's troubles whilst finding closure in dance! they can be extremely creative if they go in the right direction.

I thanked your post but, I disagree with another mix of Chicago for pop radio. To make it more friendly, a video should be done and I believe it should be in a story line form with Michael's vocals as narration. That video can star movie actors that are easily recognizable and likable instead of lesser known models and such. I believe they should do the same with APWNN because that video can be amazing! With LY, I dare say a duet with Chrisette Michelle or a dance video; tap in particular.

Apologies: I want to change my thought for LY. It could be a dance video with different dance genres; maybe starting with the grace of Astaire/Rogers to more modern styles. One can use available movie/video clips, or hired dancers re-enacting those styles. If tap only, it would center on two featured dancers going through different scenarios or scenes. Either way, video would really push these songs as evident with LNFSG and STTR.

Agreed. I wrote in the charts' thread that there can videos for each song on Xscape. I would prefer story line videos for Chicago, LY, and APWNN. Xscape can go whether the imagination takes someone. STTR can be an amazing video with female dancers escaping their confines.

Loving the album !
One of my only complaints is on the new STTR, it's timbaland's adlibs (slave, slave to the rhythm), I find it so off putting and distracting.
Aside from that love the album especially, the new versions of Loving You and Xscape !

It would be nice with a video where he´s dancing to one of Michael´s songs.
A song from Xscape.

I think showcasing 'real people' like the 12-yr-old ballet dancer, or Brett Nichols, or any other talented kid who has been inspired by Michael to start dancing - would be a great way to do promotions. It can be either just as part of a video or simply making public appearances (with maybe a little help from the Estate/ Cirque choreographers); It's a good way to help their careers as well as expand Michael's reach. Also, like most of you, I don't care for the impersonators who wear make-up trying to look like Michael; It's okay to wear the MJ outfits, but when it comes to the face, I would much rather they wear their own faces - just like Brett Nichols. The impersonators with their heavy makeup look just weird to me. All they need to do is dance like MJ, not look like him (face).

Aw that is one of the most wonderful things I have read in a while. As Michael would say: God Bless You.

Paris your hubby reminds me of a surgeon the way the performed the "Operation Xscape." It also had me chuckling too.
