Combined, these three albums, along with Xscape has sold a total of 894k copies in the US for the year 2014.

I think the promotion is over. I think it was over in August of 2014.

To add to that, Xscape advertisements on Facebook/Twitter (profile pictures, cover photo etc) have just replaced by non-Xscape photos.

Wow.

Would be grand to pose Estate/Sony questions about the promotion of Xscape and the reasoning behind what seems to be their abandonment of a superior product.

Yeah, they just replaced the Xscape profile picture with a pic from In The Closet on the official MJ Facebook. So I guess it's safe to say the Xscape campaign is officially over.

Yea, it seems the Xscape era is over. It was a very nice and exciting project and I'm proud of its success! MJ snatched quite a few wigs from the young hot artists out there with a 30 year old song! King!

On to the next project now!

not really relating to Xscape but worth to post :)

You know, in all honesty, I'm actually really happy with how the Xscape project turned out overall.

I can't really think of a better album out there that consists of solely posthumous material. I really can't get over the amazing work the producers did on some of the tracks, notably LNFSG (Both single and JT duet version), Loving You, APWNN, STTR and XSCAPE. While no-one knows how Michael would react to these contemporisations, I personally like to think he was jamming up to them in heaven ^_^

And the album was in the top 10 best selling albums of the year worldwide? For a posthumous album by an artist who's been dead for over half a decade in this day and age is actually extremely good! I think having Justin Timberlake for the duet partner on LNFSG was an excellent idea. He's highly respected now-a-days and has some of the best selling albums these few years, PLUS he was on tour for most of 2014 and promoted the song by playing it (amongst other MJ music!) before the show started and crowds filed into the arenas.

Sure, the project wasn't all happiness though. APWNN's music video never really took off after the first day and some of the contemporisations weren't entirely the best (looking at you Chicago and DYKWYCA) but hey!

We had one of the best selling albums of the year and certainly the most successful posthumous album in quite some time! It was nice to see MJ back at the top of the charts and on the front of iTunes etc too! :D More importantly, many of the tracks on this album simply KICKASS! Massive shoutout to the producers. I think the Estate really upped themselves this time and I can't wait to see what we have in store next.

Just my two cents :)

All the more reason to question what seems to be the abandonment of a superior product.

Couldn't agree with you more except, well I just love Chicago and DYKWYCA, ;D

Wow guys, 1122 pages of love, hate, affection, criticism, expectations, bickering, disagreements, appreciation and much more. It's been quite a journey one must confess. Looking back now I wouldn't trade any of that. We all came together through all of that to be a part of something special and special it was indeed. I hope we can take with us the things that we learned from this experience and evolve as fans and as people, because after all we got many more of these projects to look forward to :) Let's look forward now and as a wise man once said "The Best Is Yet To Come"

Don't know how people can be so positive about this being over already... so much more could've been done with this album but now it's sadly been swept under the rug. I'm especially sad that APWNN never took off; the modernized one sucked but the original was pretty much perfect, yet they downplayed it in favor of the newer one. Had the original version been promoted more I'm sure it would've gotten big. I want to be happy and optimistic but I just can't...

Indeed wishful thinking on S.heilds' part that a successful, superior product (Sony's top seller at one point if I remember correctly) would be revamped, repackaged, and promoted to holiday shoppers to maximize sales. How foolish of him.

S.heilds for the most part receives his information from industry insiders. It was most likely cancelled although we do not know how far into a possible process it went.

Is it any wonder why this project was abandoned? I hope he will work on revealing that if that is what has happened.

I understand that there could still me more done with xscape but at this time I could understand that by now if the album hasn't picked up traction that the the team would feel that it's time to move on... If what they out in turned around more sales they Wud be more willing to invest more now.

Sony fails a lot of artists not just Michael. IMO. It seems sometimes that it is a tactic and it doesn’t change depending on the artist.

I hope sony don't release STTR as a single since it's now a music for sony mobile advert and it's been made to sound like a poor advert song. LNFSG is going to sound like another TII average at best and will not do well on charts, guarantee. Xscape/DYKwyca looks like the best choice of songs to release as single.

"Guarantee"

I was pretty happy with the promotional campaign for Xscape. #1 in over 50 countries is a good thing and a Top 5 album for a Posthumous album is very hard to come by these days. I think it was well put together and promoted good, Now if they would have had Pepsi apart of it and put it on Pepsi cans like they did for BAD it could have been Number 1 in the US.

Overall, Sony and the Estate done good.

APWNN was a poor choice for single two. STTR or Chicago would've been much better. But judging by the way Sony only bothered promoting Hold My Hand and LNFSG from the last two releases, it seems they have little to no interest in promoting a second single.

True. I guess we're all like that having perceptions. We all make mistakes but we also have opinions I guess. I wasn't mocking your opinion, I just laughed at the past pages in the thread and how we all were speculating.

Looking back, I remember my excitement for Hot Fun in the Summertime and the Xscape (Tupac Duet). These weren't released, but any idea when they will?

2015: Off The Wall Documentary and Thriller 3D.
2016: History Tour 3D.
2017: Next posthumous release.

Again this is just speculation.

2016 is the 25th Anniversary of Dangerous. I think we can be pretty certain that there'll be a 25th anniversary edition for Dangerous :p
