Re: Unconfirmed Rumour. MJ to play dates at London arena
Ok, so like... I'm worried... if you have been queing over night... you get let in... how you gonna be able to pee before the show starts without loosing your place? Like.. seriously! :mello:
It may be possible outside the gates, when fans are still just sitting around and waiting...HOURS before the concert...IF there is a toilet somewhere (which usually isn't the case). But a couple of hours before the gates open it is HELL out there....Everyone is standing and pushing and if you move an inch...you lose your place. And unfortunately some fans won't hesitate to use force to get in front of you...so start sleeping on needles and all that now. Seriously, I had one guy drill his elbow into my back intentionally so that he could get in front of me. I told him to stop and he said not until I let him go in front of me. What an a**hole! And people will PUSH like crazy....ARGH! That's the part of MJ concerts I REALLY don't miss. I end up crying every single time because I panic because I can't breathe and it is PAINFUL....I got so squeezed against a tree at the gates in Munich in 1999 that I seriously couldn't breathe at ALL...I tried to catch a breath, but my rib cage would not move because I was so squeezed between the tree an dfans pushing against me. I just had tears running down my face because I thought I am gonna die and no one will be able to help me. It's really NOT fun out there. Every single time I am standing there all squeezed, I am like "I swear this is the LAST concert I'll ever go to!! I hate this!!". But then, ya know...it's kind of like giving birth...you know, once you see the "baby" (in this case Michael...LOL!) you forget all the pain and you're just happy.
There was a thread in MJJF once with tips from those who had been to his concerts. It must still be around somewhere in the archives. It was both useful and funny. I don't believe sanny towels were mentioned but don't drink anything certainly was. Being able to run fast also seems to be part of the criteria to get to the front so everyone start training. And being tall. If you aren't you tend to pass out from lack of oxygen. (and we thought everyone was just swooning over Michael.)
It was on MJNO....I wrote a long post on what to do....Pretty much all the things you mentioned (except sanny towels...Ugh! Is someone seriously using them??

). Since I am a nurse, I can't "recommend" any of the stuff and I said in my post "Don't do what I do"... It's true though that if you make it to the very front, the taller you are, the better you'll be doing, because there will be NO AIR, and if everyone around you are taller and you're in the middle of them...It's very hard to breathe. I'm fairly tall, but I was once stuck between these guys who were all liek over 6 feet, and I could hardly breathe...The air was really warm and stuffy. And even though you may wonder why the hell they are spraying the fans with a water hose...you are actually HAPPY when you get a little cool water sprayed on you. the air gets a bit better and it's easier to breathe. Oh, an dthey hand cups of water to fans in front rows before the concerts. So if you're lucky, you might finally get a sip to drink after HOURS of not drinking. But I think since I'm a nurse I'm already trained for a concert since you have no time to drink or use the restroom as a nurse either. You're used to functioning hours on end without any fluids, food or bathroom breaks!
Well dehydrating is one of the reasons why people keep fainting. Most of the cases when people faint, it's not because of seeing Michael. You could say you're playing with your health there. You don't get to eat enough, don't sleep enough, don't drink enough, not to mention all the excitement and being nervous. And when your body just can't take it anymore it has to protect you somehow and usually it is: fainting.
Yeah I think it was a very good choice to keep us sitting until it started. When someone stood up one of the security guys came very quickly to ask what are you doing and unless you were not going to use the toilet or buy something, they put you to sit down immediately. Though at the same time it was very uncomfortable, the spot you had was like the size of your butt and when you wanted to stretch your legs they were already on 2 people's lap  Thank God it was a very beautiful days when we had our concerts, tho the sun shining and the weather being quite hot wasn't helping us at all. It was quite torturing tbh.
Very true. I used to always think it was "crazy fans" fainting because they saw Michael, but it's usually just due to dehydration, exhaustion, lack of air, etc. You've slept very little, you haven't eaten or drunk anything for HOURS....You're either freezing (if it's a windy and a rainy day), or you're BOILING (if it's a sunny day and there's no shade)...and people are pushing like CRAZY...it's hot in the crowd....Oh my gosh...I just realized....I think I "love the tours" as much as MJ "loves to tour". It's hell for him and it's hell for us fans too.:mello: But still, I guess I'll do it all again!
