Johnny Depp Wants to Play Michael Jackson in a Movie

I agree with you about the artistic aspect, and obviously "Thriller" is his most popular.

About the film, I agree Michael didn't change that drastically. I just think, you know, if they got different people to play Bob Dylan, one being a woman, they could do that for Michael. And its not that I want Michael to be portrayed as white. He's a black man. But I think Johnny Depp isn't inconcievable because he has a similar build and facial structure to Michael and he's a very good actor. And it would be a lot easier to make him up as Michael then a lot of other people.

Not really.. lol

Oh.my.God, you are taking this WAY too seriously. Johnny Depp also has a somewhat similar build to Michael, similar facial structure, etc... He's a better actor then some unknown off of the street and it would bring clout to the role too. It's not even a reality, so who cares. There's a lot of reasons why it could work. But some people are so caught up on the so called importance of race that they can't see passed it. This is why racism will never die, sadly. If you could find a black actor who could play the role just as well, great. It doesn't matter. Frankly, I don't want any films made about Michael unless the man plays himself. He's too different to be played accurately by anybody really.

How do you know that? No... Lets not give any new talented actors a chance and continue to recycle the same A-list stars. ;) What a ridiculous stance to hold. Guess what? Johnny was once too a 'some unknown off the street'. I'm not taking anything too seriously. Racism doesn't still exist because Michael Jackson should be played by a black actor, because that is who he is  It exists because there are many people out there who believe white people are the superior race, and look down upon everyone else and commit crimes.

He's an established actor and one of the better ones in Hollywood today, with more experience. Chances ARE, he's going to be better then some joe blow off the street who's never had a professional acting job. It's not impossible to find someone better, but chances aren't likely.

I would like to see Michael take on the role as the crow.

I hope you were joking. :mello: The Crow? Forgive me for believing in some type of superstition, but Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee) had died while filming the movie, and in the sequel another actress Thuy Trang would eventually pass away.

I don't know how anyone can say that Johnny Depp can't pull this off. He certainly can pull it off....and look quite believable doing so.

If Joaquin Phenix can pull off Johnny Cash, Depp can pull off Michael.

And yall know that black dude on Law and Order? The one who partners with the grey headed guy with the glasses? Well, he is leaving the show to play none other than Marvin Gaye. And I was so excited to find this out because I have always said that this dude would make a good MG because he looks so much like him. Well, I just read it in the latest Jet mag, he is gonna play Marvin in a bio pic.

Johnny Depp is a loser - STUFF HIM. Michael Jackson cannot be 'portrayed' in any movie. It's just stupid to think that he can. I hope there is no movie about his life, because it will just be Depp galivanting on stage, regurgitating hater junk over and over again. NO is what I say - the whole idea of Depp playing Michael in a movie is disgusting and just shows how arrogant and stupid Depp really is.

WOW ...........

Did Johnny Depp call u up and cuss u out or smth?

If anyone was to ever play the lighter skinned version of Michael Jackson it would have to be Depp. What I'd be more worried about is the director and writers. It would be nice to see someone have the gall to portray MJ in a fair manner, or even a bit sympathetic for a change.

So why does a white man must play a lighter skinned Michael? A light skin black man can't be casted? Cause you know, black people come in all shades of brown, in case you haven't noticed. Is it because of his nose?

no its cuz JD is a very good actor and many people like both him and Michael Jackson on this board, thats the only reason why this is being discussed. lol

Johnny Depp is an awesome actor and seems like a cool person but im not sure IF i can see him play as MJ.

Ethnicity has nothing to do with it but I can see that as a huge controversy a white man portraying a black man, like MJ hasnt had he!! about that back in the day.

Whoever it is, i hope to goodness sake they are as talented as MJ...if their gonna portray MJ, they better bring it! lol

Johnny depp could still play Michael there is such things as makeup and as far as him playing Michael as a child they would likely bring in a child actor to play that part. There are ways it can be done and to me Johnny depp would do a great job. Good choice if he is picked to do it.

The worst thing you could do is to have an A-List actor play a famous person or a well known fictional character. It doesn't work. Angela Basette being an exception when she played Katherine in The Jacksons American Dream movie.

I think it is true Hollywood can't really be trusted to do something like Michaels life very fairly, unless someone like all three of his kids over see the important aspects. I also think it's true that Johnny has already played Michael in enough very different ways as someone said earlier.

The question is can Johnny Depp dance as well as mike?

Nope, thats' why this is never gonna happen. I love Johnny though and I think as an actor he can play MJ well.

HEHEHEEH!! i can't even picture johnny depp dancing  like michael?.....hahaha..i'm having a fit of giggles....see..what makes michael's dance soo so amazing is the fact the he has massively long skinny legs...that look amazing in gold pants......johnny? in gold pants! the man is the most talented actor to date..he can do anything and i admire him more than i can say for that..but i just don't think he could pull of the curls or the gold pants!! ... and THEN dance like him!!! hehe

They would have to use actual footage of Michael dancing to pull that off. It just wouldn't work with anyone else. Nobody looks like Michael when he dances.

Anyway, the only person who could really play Michael is Michael himself. And he wouldn't want to do that. I hope Michael makes a full length musical someday though. He could write and perform the music, choreograph it and dance the choregoraphy. He could act in it, direct it, write the script and/or come up with the story line. It would be a full display of all of his talents. That would be SO awesome.

well gee as long as people resurrected this thread i found this picture a while back on someone's blog that said that Johnny was turning into Michael lmao

anywho i find it hilarious how this thread grew to 18 pages out of a statement that Johnny made that was completely twisted by the media lol

as far as a movie is concerned about Mike's life, even though i love johnny and think he's a great actor, I honestly think Mike's life has been exploited enough.

Johnny Depp would love to play Michael Jackson in a movie
about his life. The 44-year-old actor was said to have based his character Willy Wonka in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' on the eccentric singer - who was cleared of child molestation charges
in 2005 - and has joked he would be willing to portray the
reclusive star if the opportunity arose.

He told BANG Showbiz: "I have heard that I based Willy Wonka on Michael Jackson before, but no, that was not my plan, I wish I had thought of that though.

"But there is still time to play him. He might get up to his old tricks again and maybe there will be a TV movie about him!"
Johnny - who stars as a murderous barber in 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' - also revealed he had no intention of sounding like David Bowie in the musical film.
He added: "I wouldn't ever dream of attempting to channel David Bowie because he is one of my heroes. But if there is a similarity it wasn't intentional. It's a nice compliment though."

I knew that character was based on mj the day i watched it and i thought, is he trying to do a bad impression of mj cos it sucks. - but i guess i was wrong
