I probably shouldn't be starting a new thread about this but I had to get this out. I feel literally sick to my stomach because I have been reading many of the tribute magazines and articles out there. There are some beautiful photos but in many ways, I feel like its the world's last slap in the face to Michael. Many of those magazine choses their words wisely and paint a very twisted picture of MJ. They are very suggestive, RS went as far as to quote an anonymous record exec to say what the author wanted to say, which is that MJ "probably" molested children. None of the magazines were as fair as they could have been in pointing out the weak prosecution and the flaws in the allegations, none cleared up the fact that MJ slept on the FLOOR and gave the child the bed - they just say he let children sleep in his bed. None of them really explained how hellish it was for him to face those kinds of allegations and why he settled. None of them explained how lupus and vitiligo together could explain for many of his physical changes. Some were kinder and fairer than others while some continue to do what they did to him in life - libel, defame, degrade and even dismiss his successes later in life. What makes me feel most nauseous is knowing people who secretly despice MJ are getting paid for this because of us and many others who think it is kind of them to publish MJ in their magazines. But some even have the nerve to still call him ***** on their covers! When I think about how badly these kinds of words hurt MJ in life, I feel like he is still being hurt and in a way when we pay for these magazines, we are condoning it. Is it the right thing to do for the sake of pretty glossy pictures? Please forgive us MJ for being so blind sometimes.

I bought all the tributes because I assumed they'd all bepositive... I couldn't have been more wrong or naive. To think they'd finally show him respect in death? Yeah, right. I should have known better.

I'm in the process of writing angry letters to both Time and RS for their horrific articles.
 
So Ebony is the one to get, correct? I still haven't purchased any of these.
 
Something tells me Ebony will do him justice. I haven't read it yet but I think it'll be good.
 
Well I think the media isn´t as powerful as it used to be because of the internet. This forum has a lot of visitors right now, and the way his records are selling shows that people still loved him. We have the rest of our life to try to clear his name if we want to and I think we should recommend books like Redemption and Michael Jackson conspiracy to anyone who might be interested, maybe even journalists if it seem like they are just ignorante and dosn´t write things that they know is wrong. Some might but others maybe just hasn´t been really interesed in the 10 second journalist type of thing which is moving from one story to another really quickly without really investigating anything.
 
In fifty years from now, Michaels legacy will still live on and no one will remember what a few tabloids had to say. The internet is already taking over and if people want to know the real truth they can just find it online. Newspapers are gonna disappear.

Don't pay attention. I don't and it feels good. I haven't read a swedish newspaper since Michael passed away. They are only after creating sensationalism and selling a few copies of their lies.
 
The problem is they're tainting his legacy. And any half-wit that picks up the tribute is going to believe what they read.

But what can they say that people hasn´t already heard. The trial was only 4 years ago and I think that people who believe that he has always been innocent has already found out the facts for themself. People who are interested will know the truth and I think that people already have made up their mind about MJ. But it is very disrespectful of the media I do agree with that.
 
People arent that daft and those who perhaps do get influenced will in life meet a Michael Jackson fan who will put forward the facts.

I agree with the comment about the internet. The papers are getting desperate, most people use the internet for news etc now and I guess they are attempting to keep their sales up. Within time they will have to find another way to sell as I think people will just get totally fed up and they will find their publications sitting on the shelves.

The worst thing is they are meant to be journalists and when young I always believed a journalist wrote a factual article to highlight or to inform. They have turned lazy and take gossip and amazingly are able to put it into print.

I believe in Liverpool (UK) they dont buy the Sun newspapers as when the Hillsborough football tragedy happened they said that all Liverpudlians were stealing from the dead bodies and also from the wounded - when in fact they were trying to find ID. Journalists wont even go to certain parts of Liverpool....

Don't give those tabloids too much credit. I have read peoples comments and many are not believing these tabloid stories. There are many intelligent people out there and I think some have changed their minds about Michael. There have even been some who feel remorse and regret for what they believed about Michael.

Anyhoo, again, don't give the media too much credit. They will never succeed because Michaels legacy is far greater and more powerful than anything they say.
 
I don't belive everything I read just because it's a certain magazine. I more love the pictures than anything. I have known all along that MJ was innocent. I knew he wouldn't hurt a fly, much less a child. I love MJ and he will live on forever in my heart.
 
The way I deal with the bad press is that I try to ignore it as much as possible. I don't buy them.

You just have to remember what a good man Michael was in your heart. You have certain facts, the truth and that's all that matters...you hold on to that truth and ignore all the lies that come from outside.

Agreed.. not all the articles or not even all of an article would be positive. They pinpoint the negative more so and overlook the important details. Anyways, I get them more for the beautiful photos.

I read it from an objective point of view. If I knew nothing much about Michael and read it, it sounds pretty convincing.

When I pass on the magazine to future generations (ie: if I should have kids) I want a memory of the TRUTH. As a keepsake, it makes him look horrible. Not to mention that I myself was looking forward to reading some new, perhaps lesser known info.
 
I'm just tired of all the back handed comments. Im even sick of people calling him a 'pop star'. ugh! Thats why I'm not really bothered with these Magazines and tributes. I just wanna get TIME magazine because I like the cover, and for collection. not for the articles. :)
 
Exactly. We have the power to spread the truth through the internet.

Just look at what is happening in Iran for a demonstration. The Iran government blocked out the media, but individuals, the people of Iran took to Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and Flickr to tell and show the rest of the world, through photos and video, what was actually happening in their country. The government tried to stop them by blocking those websites but people from other countries taught them how to overcome that and gave them 'proxies' to overcome that.

The individual really can have the power instead of the media (and even the government!) with the help of the internet.

Also, as a side note, the media even follows and uses the social media..Sky News had a Twitter correspondent to read tweets from Iranian people, and they used photos and video from Youtube/Flickr. With the deaths of some soldiers in Afganistan and the death of a boy in Greece, Sky News are taking comments from tribute pages on facebook and using them in their reporting.

Basically, we do have the power to do something, we just need to figure out how to go about it.

Exactly, that's what we're here for now :) That Consipiracy book I only bought a month or so back, and it is such a good read! I've lent it to my brother to read now :)
 
I haven't read a newspaper since Michael's passing because i just knew the media wouldn't let up on writing stories tinged with negativity just because he died.

so sad.
