Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

Well, girlfriend, we can all go and post salvation scripture. LOL! But I will not stoop to their level.

Neither will I. But if we were to go in THEIR threads, the very same people who come here, they would whine and cry about us being disrpespectful and shoving our beliefs down their throats, but they are doing just that here.

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

i can answer that cause i was baptised Catholic and then saved and rebaptised into Pentecostal....we are re baptised cause when i was Catholic i was not saved but when i got rebaptised it is kind of a rededication ,,,

But as Catholics we are taught to accept Christ as Lord and Savior. Did they not teach you that? Sorry I'm a bit confused . I always learned from a very young age that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

yes acceptance is the not the same as having a genuine personal relationship with God and being filled up with the Holy Spirit it is quite different i was Catholic for 35 years of my life and now i am alsmost 50 and what i have now in Christ is so differnt then what i grew up with

don;t get my wrong, the Catholic church gave me a good foundation to build upon, my belief in Jesus but now i know God more closer and better! and i can worship intensely with all my heart!

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

Hello thunder,

Maybe you or someone else can answer me this. First a statement then a question. If someone is baptized some Christian denomination like Luther, Baptist, etc. and wants to convert to Catholicism, they don't need to be baptized again because the Church recognized the baptisms as long as they are done "In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit", which most Christian denominations do?
My question is is it not the same with the Christian denominations? If someone was baptized Catholic and wants to convert to another Christian denomination, do the denomination not recognize the Catholic baptism?

well the christian denomination differs in the way that Catholics have Jesus on the cross...if you see a christian wearing a cross...Jesus has been taken off the cross..I hope this is what you are asking...we are baptisted when we are old enough to understand WHY we are excepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior....as a baby you dont really understand the why part....so they dont really except the one time baptism as a baby

Exactly, and that's what Santan would want, and I don't do what he wants.

I have worn a crucifix cross, and I am an Episcopalian and I even wore one as a Baptist. He died on a cross for me, so I will show the world he did!

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

I think he said that.. he couldn't deny the current research findings. This one quote I found (which could have been taken out of context, or maybe i took it wrong) he said something like evolution was guided by God but the human soul was nothing to do with evolution.

The current Pope sounds against evolution though. The Church's stance is not very clear to be honest.

I found this on Wikipedia (not the most reliable place)

Well Rockin...I must say...the Pope has me there...lol....it is as though he is taking away from the things that we were taught by the early church...by what the Bible teaches. I wouldn't let it cause you any confusion....I would just stick with what you were taught from the beginning....it sounds as though modern day religion is trying to change the word a liitle.

The reason a cross is worn without Jesus on it ..is because Jesus was taken off the cross and place in the tomb....then he rose again. so the cross with no Jesus symbolized this....but you can wear whatever kind of cross you want....I myself use to wear a crucifix until my pastor told me what it ment not too....so I chose not to wear it to symbolize Jesus as the Living God.

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

Thanks. The Roman Catholic blog says he said evolution cannot be proven and that evolution raises questions that science cannot answer...but then the NY post contradicts that completely.. so I'm still confused.

We know from being MJ fans that newspapers aren't reliable..there are long essays written by the Pope himself.. maybe I should research in the proper locations to find out what he is actually saying..

I'll have to ask my dad.

That's cool too!! I wear both.

but as the child gets older they learn why they are baptized-that Jesus is Lord and Savior. We believe in infant baptism because it removes the stain of original sin on the soul so the Church wants to have that removed soon. But the children do learn the why of why they got baptized when they are learning more about Christ.

Hey Michelle,

I was baptized twice too, and the second time I did it, was because the Bible says you must go forth and proclaim your faith in Christ and be baptized. I got saved for myself in 1999, as a baby, I was baptized at 3 months old.

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

We have Confirmation.. to confirm our faith. Thats very important. I remember my Confirmation classes.. my red exercise book with activities and stuff in, and the discussions we had, all to let us understand more.

I understand what you are saying...about the children learning the WHY as they go along....The second :baptism" signifies being cleansed of those sins and being born again to start a fresh new beginning....the old sins have been washed away....and as long as you follow the word to the best of your ability The Lord will forgive.

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen

Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?

The Apostle's Creed. We say this in the Episcopal chruch.

I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day, He rose again.
He ascended to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.
