nothing hopefully. just another money making scheme

If this is for charity I'll probably donate a bit, I have to make some donations after Easter anyway seems like a good thing to be

The Jackson Family have more money that they could ever spend. Mr. Michael Jackson left an "enormous estate" for his family & generations to come...I highly doubt it really has much to do about adding to it..

In my opinion, the motivation has more to do with helping Gary Indiana's community as a whole..!

As Always~

Michael didn't leave his 'family' a penny. He left money for his 3 kids and mother. That's it.

Yeah but you can't seariously think Katherine won't give any of the money to the rest of them if they ever need some... She's to nice not too

Ryan.
Of course she can will and am pretty sure is doing so, however she can only do that from whatever she gets as an allowance or later after the estate is out of probate in few years of her 40% of the profits she'll be getting. She cannot leave them her 40% of the profits/estate as that reverts back to Michael's children as Michael stipulated. She can't pass on her 40% of the profits the claim itself due to the reverting back clause just like the clause that any beneficiary who challenges the will will be automatically loosing their share. Michael was a smart man indeed. It's like u got 1 mil on ur bank account and can share whatever interest rate a certain percentage % u get but can't touch the actual money as it's off limits leave alone even share. And after passing on ur claim to the percentage is gone too as u can't pass it on to someone else

Join us to embark on this adventure of giving back and making Michael's dreams a reality all over the world!

Dear Friends:

I want to personally thank all of you for your incredible support during these challenging times. Katherine and I as well as the entire Jackson Family have been deeply touched by the outpouring of your love and sincerely appreciate your concerns.

Everywhere I go I am greeted with kindness and words of comfort which do mean much to me. For over four decades the Jackson Family has brought captivating and moving music to the world and we count it a special privilege to have been a part in making that possible.

Prior to Michael’s passing, I visited the place where it all started; Gary, Indiana. Life was tough back in the early 1960’s and Katherine and I did the best we could in raising 9 terrific children. We are extremely proud of all our children -- from the successes as a group with The Jackson Five with Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie, Tito and Michael and later The Jacksons with Randy to the individual successes of Rebbie, LaToya and Janet - all have made an impact on the world of music and the world at large in their own unique way.

Over the years as the family developed and had so many successes, I have thought about building a permanent place where Jackson Family fans and friends alike could visit and learn about the story behind the headlines. Michael’s untimely passing has made such a tribute even more imperative. While being extremely talented, Michael was unique in a variety of ways, especially when it came to having a big heart. If Michael taught us anything, it was the importance of each one of us in taking the opportunity to make a difference in the world, of giving to others and… making the world a better place.

So with the encouragement and urging of friends and supporters Katherine and I have joined together to form the Jackson Family Foundation, a not for profit organisation, which will head the development of the Jackson Family Museum and Cultural Center to be built in the birthplace of the Jackson musical family; Gary, Indiana as both a memorial to Michael and a tribute to the entire Jackson Family. The Jackson Family Foundation, as well, will support charitable cultural, social and educational projects.

The Honorable Rudy Clay, Mayor of Gary has generously offered 10 acres of prime city land and a multitude of financial incentives to make the project a reality. I have appointed my longtime friend and associate, Mr. Simon Sahouri, publisher of LVH Magazine, to serve as President of the Jackson Family Foundation and to head the building project and capital campaign with the assistance of a professional fundraising group, Seven and Company, LLC. I have asked our beautiful granddaughter Stevanna Jackson, who, by the way, is a student at Harvard University, to also sit on the board of directors ensuring the next generation of Jackson’s are well represented.

Our goal is to build a truly memorable place where friends and fans alike can learn about the history of the Jackson Family, honor all the members of the Jackson Family and remember and carry on the legacy of Michael. But, most of all, this will be a place for you - the fans - to visit, to learn, to share and to remember what the music of the Jackson Family has meant to you.

I have assembled a strong team of developers, financiers, consultants and advisors to make the Jackson Family Museum and Cultural Centre a reality for all of us, and sincerely appreciate your input and ideas and welcome your support and participation.

Thank you and God Bless,

Joe Jackson.

Well, I'm guessing that Randy's recent tweet, stating that he and his siblings know nothing about this "project," has put a DIFFERENT spin on this announcement.

I am quoting ensleyave : God bless them. God bless Randy Jackson.

I'd like to see the look on the face of the elected officials of Gary, IF they ever get wind of Randy's recent tweet, regarding their 300 million dollar project.

I guess that explains why NOBODY from the family was with Joe Jackson when he made his "move forward" announcement.

maybe we should make SURE that the town officials see Randy's tweet...because this is NOT what Michael worked his whole life for!!....He left his money to his children and his mother..NOT to the Jackson family and the whole town of Gary Indiana.

The money for this isn't coming from the Estate. The Estate is protected, Branca and McClain aint going to give MJs money away. So no need to worry about that. The Estate aren't involved and didn't give the permission to use MJs image according to MJ Estate lawyer Howard Weitzman, via TMZ.

From the letter it sounds as if they have/want investors and have to fundraise - hence selling magazine and of course disgraceful idea of the belt with the kids 'autographs'.

I just sent an e-mail to the Mayor of Gary Indiana...asking him to make sure that he KNOWS fully where these funds are coming from for this project...now lets see how it works out..I do not know this man....he is probably a upstanding man.....I hope his actions continue to portray him as such, here is his e-mail address if anyone feels the need to send him and e-mail.

thank you for all this information Rockin..:)......in reading that article I see that they are talking about hiring developers and such.....these people are not gonna work for free..the money has to come from somewhere...and according to Randy ..he and the rest of the siblings have no knowledge of this...so I dont know how Joe thinks he is gonna raise the money....we will have to sit back and see....in Michael's own words...."Joe's business dealings are terrible".

Not only do these folks not work for free.

When conducting this type of business, the folks who are INVESTING are going to want to see OTHER members from the "performing" part of the Jackson family, notably Janet Jackson, then the remaining members of the Jackson 5, and to a lesser degree Rebbie and LaToya.

When you want folks to invest in your product, you basically have to put on a show for them. They are going to need a lot more "SHOW" then Joe Jackson. LOL!

Found this..

They have a lot of money to raise..

Michael Jackson's father and Gary officials announced plans Wednesday to move ahead with a long-delayed performing arts center to help revitalize the late singer's hometown, drawing cautious optimism from residents who say they've heard this song many times before.

Work on the $300 million museum and performing arts center could begin as early as next year, said Gary Mayor Rudy Clay, acknowledging this isn't the first time city officials have made promises about the project. "The question has been asked: Why now, why Gary, is it really going to happen?" Clay said. "Now is the time. We've got to seize the moment."

Jackson left Gary as a child and visited just once, in June 2003, to announce plans for the center. No details were given then about how the center would be paid for, and the financial plans were equally vague Wednesday.

Clay said money to build the Jackson Family Museum and Hotel and the Michael Jackson Performing Arts and Cultural Center and Theaters would come from the Jackson Family Foundation, investors and donations. But neither he nor Joe Jackson said how much the foundation would chip in or how much investors have pledged.

No progress was made on the project before Michael Jackson's death last year. His father, Joe Jackson, said Wednesday that he's "just carrying out his legacy" by getting involved.

"This is a happy day for me because this is something that my family and Michael have always wanted," Joe Jackson said. "We're bringing something back."

When the cash-strapped city held a memorial for Michael Jackson last July, Clay said officials paid $5,000 to fly Joe Jackson and seven other people from Los Angeles to attend. He didn't say whether the city paid for Jackson's travel this time.

There also was no mention Wednesday of Michael Jackson's estate. It is considering a different museum plan and must give written approval for any use of the singer's name and intellectual property, including his music, attorney Howard Weitzman said.

"The Estate of Michael Jackson was never consulted about, nor is it involved in, the Jackson Family museum being proposed in Gary, Indiana," Weitzman said in a statement. "The Estate has no connection to this project."

Michael Jackson spent the first 11 years of his life in Gary. The family moved after the Jackson 5 struck it big in 1969. By that time, the steel industry, in which Joe Jackson had worked, had started to decline. Over the years, the city's unemployment and poverty rates soared, crime increased and the population dwindled.

Clay said the museum and performing arts center would create thousands of jobs and, when finished, was expected to bring at least 750,000 visitors a year to the city. He estimated it would generate $100 million to $150 million in income for the community each year.
"This project will be the magnet that will draw people from all over the world," Clay said. In comparison, Graceland, Elvis Presley's home in Memphis, draws an estimated 600,000 visitors a year, according to the website for Presley's estate.

After years of promises about the project but no progress, residents in this gritty city 30 miles southeast of Chicago were cautiously optimistic. People said they were hopeful because Wednesday's announcement was the furthest along the project has ever come, with the city donating 300 acres of land.

Police Chief Gary O. Carter was impressed by Joe Jackson's presence.
"Why would he come all the way here if it wasn't" going to happen, Carter said.

Seretha Harvey, 24, grew up in Gary and said she hoped the project would happen, and that it would bring jobs and help change people's image of the financially struggling city.

"I've been in and out of Gary for the past few years, and I've seen it deteriorate. I'm worried about whether this is actually going to matriculate," she said, but added, "I'm optimistic about it."

so now the Officials paid for Joe and 7 other people to fly to Gary...just last year...what the heck makes these folks think that Joe can raise 300 million dollars???......not only that but it also says that they were trying to get this project off the ground before Michael passed....well to me that says that...Michael didn't want any part of this project..obviously if the rest dont know about it....they dont either...I think this is all Joe right here,
