You guys, we have been getting alot of new MJ leaks and new material as of late. And, I know that we want to share with one another these discoveries. However, posting links to material is against copyright laws and MJJC could be culpable. It could result in the site being shut down. Mods have been going to many threads deleting links to YT and places where things can be downloaded. This needs to stop. NOW. We continually ask for your cooperation with this, and people are ignoring.

If you have something to post, please do post what you have. Let people PM you. We are really asaking for your help here to ensure that we can all continue to enjoy this community.

Please guys!:)

Youtube is a legal site. Are you sure it is illegal to share a youtube link? - I highly doubt that.

If you say it's not allowed on MJJC because you want to keep a good relation with SONY and the Estate I understand 100 % - BUT according to law it is not illegal.

MJ Community has no connection with youtube, which means that if YT links are shared, nothing can happen to MJ community. Youtube is the only one responsible for videos uploaded on their site.

^^^^

Correct. Sharing a legal link to a video on YU is not illegal. YT has to make sure their content is legal.

BUT - since MJJC is the biggest MJ fan community and SONY and the Estate respect MJJC and gives insight in project, it could be important to keep the good relations.

It has NOTHING to do with YouTube. That's a pathetic excuse!

Remember that rape video on YouTube that was in the papers? Do you really think it would be legal to embed here?

That aside, it's morally wrong! People at Sony could loose their jobs if this next album doesn't do what they're expecting. What about Michael's legacy? These leaked songs are not even finished and to non Michael Jackson fans they're a joke.

It is legal to share a YT link.

Moral is another thing.

YT links do matter. It is as if someone sells something illegal and you put a link up for people to go there and get stuff illegally. You can't then say, "Well, I wasn't selling it. I was just making people aware they could get it there." You are a party to a crime.

We all know videos on YT when it is copyrighted material is a no,no. The fact that they keep taking the videos off the site shows that company does not want them there. YT will have to answer for their part. But we will have to answer as well for sending them there to watch videos, that are in effect, illegal.

Sony at one time was already targeting fansites for having copyrighted material. We don't want to give them a reason to come here and close us down. Openly posting links and videos is a blatant statement of defiance to the company. And, opens the community up to whatever actions Sony wnats to take. Please consider this seriously. Gaz isn't taking a stance on this for no reason.

i'm not interested in the album anyway, so i haven't even ventured in the threads. but i have to wonder how serious the record companies are about their material being put up on youtube, since youtube hasn't been shut down altogether, by now. i get the feeling, that deep down, these record companies want the music videos exposed for at least a day or two at a time, because mtv isn't a music channel anymore, and exposure on youtube is like radio airplay. it got justin beiber discovered. i wonder if the record companies are sincere, since they need the exposure cus they need the money so bad, from potential sales due to xposure. that's why MJ didn't mind his stuff on youtube.

^^^

Yeah but how that doesn't make it illegal to link to YT anyway.

You can walk into a bank to get money on different ways too. - But it can be done legal.

By the way someone sent me the link to Do You Know Where Your Children Are and today I caved in and listened. You can clearly hear Michael's wonderful voice, the beat is infectious urging your body to want to dance whilse silmultaneously the lyrics guide your heart. I thinks it's a masterpeice I'm glad I listened and it was so refreshing and uplifting after the official releases that Sony wanted us to hear:)

Thanks for the recap of the rules. Do you know if we are personally liable for things sent via PM?

PM is fine, it falls under the same rule YouTube use to avoid lawsuits.

If MJJC have been informed users are sharing links via PM and don't take action they could get in trouble. Just like YouTube HAVE to remove videos when someone makes a copyright claim.

I don't think PM for the purposes of sharing locations should be allowed either, it's using the Mjjcommunity system to share locations of copyrighted material, which mjjcommunity should be liable for as well (Sony are you listening!!!)

copyright laws.....im still going to buy the album when its released on cd....its probably sony or someone from sony leaking them lol....

..ok... I guess I did wrong then asking for links? Well, I just found one of this myself today. They are everywhere :)
I guess 144,000 is right about companies really allowing this as a way of promoting the albums.
thanks for the info!

It's not legal to post songs like DYKWYCA in the 2000 Watts section^^

This really depends on national law. It's also illegal to link to copyright-protected material on youTube.

Some of you may be living in a country where the law is not very strict (yet), but don't forget about countries where the law is already further developed.

youTube videos with unreleased audio/picture/video that is protected by INTERNATIONAL copyright law is ALWAYS illegal.

Too many people are just too used to it. It took many years for companies to finally force youTube to take more care about this.

the fact remains that posting a youtube link with whatever content can not legally harm the place that it gets embedded to (e.g. here). it's a thing between youtube and the one that uploaded it to youtube.

moral issues remain moral issues, not legal issues.

but it remains the problem of youtube if they allow their users to share it internationally.
its not the problem of ANY website that has links to youtube or embedds youtube players.

^ in Germany forums can be sued for linking to illegal youTube videos

it doesn't remain the problem of youTube, it depends on the law in your country

I understand what your saying, but it's not your responsiblity or any of our's to make sure, check, or even give a crap in the first place as to whether or not a video at you tube is legally there. That's You Tube's job. They get paid to do it. In short, none of us are party to a crime if we post a link to a you tube video that is illegal.

But I understand pissing Sony off, even in this instance, could lead to them creating problems in the future when we share remixes, acapellas, and instrumentals.

Guys you have all said your piece but we cannot allow any YT links or any links to downloads to any of the upcoming released. If we don't cull it we could be in trouble and no wants that.

okay guys. I just moved into my apartment almost two weeks ago. I DO NOT HAVE INTERNET. I REPEAT I DO NOT HAVE INTERNET! I can use it on and off today here at my Grandpas. Please tell me what I have missed, and please somebody please pm me whatever has leaked. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE It's killing me. I'm dying to hear it. And I can't install winrar on this computer just to let whoever knows. I'm not too concerned about ballads that have leaked.

Please somebody pm me.

Hmmm I guess given the very nature of this thread that would be a NO!

You might have more luck asking your bank manager for the keys to their safe ;-)
