News from sony!!!! What ive been told at the sony headquarter...

^ It's coming to DVD. I can assure you that.

And contrary to what was said here, there are literally dozens of songs in the vault that will trickle out over the coming years.

Sony have very very little in their vaults (nothing of any consequence) Bruno was quite correct in saying that. And as one might expect, sony are unable to speak as to what the estate has.

As to what the estate has in its' vaults... now that's a whole different ball of wax

Also, Sony do not have hold of the bad tour masters, the estate have them (but not the complete wembley master)

One would expect quite a bit more to be released over the coming years but one might also expect the estate to run sony on a MUCH tighter leash given the blunders and fumbles.

I'm finding it hard to believe that there aren't many unreleased songs left. I would have thought there would have been loads left.

We have heard from many reports that there are many unreleased songs left. There are just not may left that Sony owns. We are assuming the rest of the unreleased songs were owned by MJ and are now owned by the Estate.

What about the deal about 10 projects that Sony paid 200 or was it 250 millions for?

Bruno, when are you going to upload Dangerous Tour Sao Paulo?

After reading that, it just seems as though Sony doesn't own the rights to these things (songs, concert footage). That doesn't mean this stuff won't be released. It just means the estate has control over these things and could possibly decide to release product with or without Sony involved.

I think the deal with Sony is more about re-releasing old albums/videos (ie Making of Thriller) with added unreleased material as opposed to releasing completely new projects. If I'm not mistaken, everything that has been released through Sony since Michael's death had already been released in some way, shape or form. None of the stuff released has been COMPLETELY new.

It's also why I'm usually one to not go too negative on Sony when something is announced for release and people go crazy because it's a re-hash of a Greatest Hits or a re-packaged album. EVERY label out there would do it, and do for their own artists.

Michael released around 2 albums per decade, and were great money makers for Sony. Of course they would want to maximize this and release as many versions as they possibly can before we formed a mob and stormed the Japanese Head Office.

Ahh, how boring would it be if there is no drama?
Sorry, but to me Sony is scamming.
They don't have anything and try to bring people down.
The estate would bring the Bad tour probably under other lable. Moonwalker blu-ray and dvd is released by Warner. they won't get any new video footage, thats why they talk shit like been "not commercially rentable".

Can The Estate Release Stuff By Themself?

Did They Say Something About New TII Footage? :D:D:D:D:D:D

There's loads of money to be made with these songs the Estate owns. Sony and the estate both know that very well. No reason to worry at all...eventually these songs will see the light of day, of course they will.

They made 10 project deal, no doubt several of them will be music and maybe a DVD or two.

Sony would not pay $250 million for 10 songs and re-releases.

I wouldn't mind that. Maybe another label would do a better job on it than Sony did on Vision.

But I don't care which label, just release Bad Tour, PLEASE!

Yep, because if a Bad Tour DVD isn't "commercially rentable", then how the heck would any tour DVD by almost any artist be that??

After all, Michael's fan base is huge, we are known for buying pretty much "everything MJ" that gets released  AND many non-fans acknowledge Michael was one of the greatest entertainers of all time, so there might be a few others interested in seeing him in action :punk:

So, Estate, please give us The Bad Tour we're all so desperate for, and we will show some people what is "commercially rentable" :D

I find that hard to beleive, "they dont have much more material left"

Whats this cardboard version of the album going to be like? Just a collectors edition of the same album or are they adding a few new songs onto it?

Right, I would hope that's not true, otherwise they were very stupid to make a $250 million deal, right? lol

And the Bad tour - so what if they don't have it now, they CAN get it. I'm sure the Estate will give it to them to put out.

And what is the point of a cardboard case? "Oh, in a year, we will put the same CD out, only with a cardboard case this time, so it's $9 instead of $10." Seriously? There has to be more to it than that...

I think Sony just did not want to give anything away, so they gave all "non-answers".
The title of the thread is a little misleading. I actually thought you had some real news from Sony, and it was EXCITING! But...

Just the leaked material we have is enough for 2 or 3 more albums.

This is very interesting, since Branca is saying that "there is enough for at least another album", meaning one more album? (The article is posted here: http://mjjcommunity.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3120808&postcount=62) So if the estate is also says they don't have that much material, where is it???

absolutely gutting about the Bad Tour DVD :(, it will never get released

So... who leaked the demo remix - Save to the Rhythm???? MJ Estate?
BTW, the question also is who has the access to the MJ´s vault... with all the music samples and demos...????

I bet that some of the Jacksons (including 3T) are the "insiders"....

Interesting. It's a shame that Sony don't have that much material left. But I think it's even worse that they can't put out his other work like concerts from the BAD Tour that we've been waiting for. Perhaps they can release the HIStory concert from Munich on DVD. That wouldn't be a bad idea. I just feel that given live performance was such a huge part of his legacy, we should have a LOT more than just one concert from the dangerous tour (..even though it is awesome)!

P.S. So, brunomj, from your talks with Sony, did you get any insight about future releases or behind-the-scenes information about past releases?

To be honest I will be disappointed with anything else than Bad Tour!

That was when he was on his peak as far as live performances concerned! He sang live, he was great!

Me too, definitely very disappointed! There's so much ok quality footage from the History tour, so I'm not in a hurry to get them officially released. Bad Tour 2nd leg is something we - or at least most of us - don't have.. :timer:

Lol if u belive this u are letting sony fool you do u really think that if they where doimg anything with a dvd or new cd they would tell a random fan and not a press release ( bare in my tbey announced them selves a 7 album deal ) not much else in possesion 6 more cds is at least 60 new tracks

Lol some pepole

well Moonwalker was recorded in 1988 and you have it in bluray now, and with a kickass (very good) quality... so maybe its not impossible... but i think its a waste of money, they should release another concert.

Moonwalker was shot and edited on film, that is why an hd version can exist. The cannot be said for Bucharest, it was shot on video for tv broadcast.

sony has not paid $250M!

it's a typical staged payment contract with options - they pay a proportion of that $250M for each option that they take up.

It is disappointing indeed. There are so many incredible pictures from the 2ng leg of the BAD Tour, I would really love to see a concert from that tour. And like you said, he was at his peak in terms of live performance.
