Official: The Jackson UNITY TOUR

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

That says it all.

I do wish them success, but in watching their reality show, I remembered thinking there was a lack of drive in getting something done. Unless there was some very serious editing of that show, it appeared to me that they liked the idea of singing and performing again, but weren't really into giving the all out effort needed to really make everything work. I certainly didn't see a lot of enthusiasm, energy, or determination.

When Jackie and Marlon practiced a routine, they did it half heartedly, completed their practice soon after they started. Again, it could have been the editing, but I never sensed any of them were "into it" like they should have been if they really wanted to get back out there and perform. I didn't expect the high energy they had as teenagers, but I didn't expect the lack of effort or interest I saw either. I guess that's changed GREATLY now. Hope so for their sake. Because despite what LaToya said, MJ's prescence and energy IS going to be felt, which means, they will need to work harder to make up for his loss to be taken seriously as entertainers again.

ETA: They might do better getting some high energy dancers as backup and develop whole new routines, with the dancers providing a lot of the physical energy, while they focus mainly on their vocals.

Hmmm maybe they don't need that now, perhaps it is all on offer to them rather than them having to work hard to get it.

I watched the show too and I'm in the same line of thinking with you. They were lacking focus, vision, determination, innovation, drive, imagination etc, as you said it, they were doing it half-heartedly. It was surreal, they were running around like headless chickens, doing a little bit this, little bit that but nothing was finished.

I got this feeling that they like to talk but not work for their shows, everything have to be done ready for them, someone has to tell them what to do/when to do/how to do.
They spent too much of time arguing, deleted one's vocal after an argument, and most of the time I had to look at other brothers were forced to rub Jermaine wounded little soul after all this time he still felt that he was left behind at Motown.

Michael was the one who did everything for their show, now they are on their own and they have to sort themselves out if they want to be successful on their own right. It's not going to be an easy ride, very few band can make in after they been out of business nearly a 30 years.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

It's not going to be the same since Michael sang most of the songs. I am not saying it will be bad but different. The producer they talked to on the reality said (to the camera) that Michael cannot be replaced and that they can't go back to how it was but they have find a way to make it work with the reality of how things are now. If Jermaine tries to be like Michael it won't work. They have to be themselves and approach it differently. They have to have the work ethic and drive to do this.

I was really hoping the reality show would come back for a second season. I had just started to get into it the last two episodes and they pulled the plug. The reality show could have been a good Launchpad for them but they didn’t even have enough drive to follow through and renew that. MJ was the creative genius who made the Jackson 5 so good. I wish Marlon, Tito and Jackie well.

I don't think it was the fact they were waiting for Michael that stopped them from touring over the last 28 years. I can't help but think it was probably the lack of interest from sponsors toward them without Michael. Couple with that the fact that they really struggle working together with or without Michael that nothing got off the ground.

I don't believe for one second that they didn't want to perform over the last 28 years, in fact wasn't the Jackson Family Dynasty series only meant to be one episode showing the brothers desire to tour and record an album? Then Michael died and the episode became a series.

I believe they know this is now or never, they have interest, they have backing and they can perform on a scale that they think they are worthy of.

For several of those first 28 years, they all seemed to want to launch solo careers. Jermaine did well, but then he faded too. I agree there was a lack of interest by sponsors, but I think that was the case more down the line. Initially, there was so much momentum for MJ after Thriller, I think in the beginning if they really persevered and worked hard like MJ worked, tried to be innovative and try something new, they could have benefited from his momentum without him being on stage with them. I think what you said about them struggling to work together has a lot to do with it, coupled with them really needing someone or something pushing them to keep it all going and them vested.

That show was a real eye opener. They seemed more enthused about what they'd eat for lunch than putting together an album or a show.

Not the same at all. They're going to have to be very very creative in their approach.

Yes, MJ was. I've come to believe that Joe pushed hard because they needed to be pushed. Of course NOT in the manner Joe did it, but I don't know if they ever had the kind of ambition Joe or MJ had.

Michael Jackson's brothers plan show in native Indiana

They don't even have names... they are ....Michael Jackson's brothers **face palm**

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I know Randy wasn't part of the Jackson 5, but why is he always left out? He's the most talented of them all.

good question.. Maybe he doesn't want to participate

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I live in the U.K. so I will not be attending any of the shows.

But is anyone here actually going?

I went on ticketmaster and the prices range from $119.00 to $164.95.

A little more expensive than I expected and there is a 4 ticket limit.

If us hardcore Michael Jackson themselves are not soon keen on attending these shows, I'm afraid the attendance is going to be very poor.

You really think so? I could see it going either way if they're playing the right venues. If The Commodores can go out and tour, I find it hard to believe that these guys couldn't.

EXACTLY! and that is pretty much how the write ups from this tour will be.

Anyway, people are asking about Randy's participation, I seriously think there is some kinda tension between Randy and the other brothers. It will be interesting to see who from the family turns up for opening night.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I hope they come to the UK. I would love to see them.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

^Yes, but he was also a human being with emotions. He called Latoya a 'witch' during a private phone conversation with Glenda, where Glenda didn't have anything positive to say about Latoya. What I noticed was that Michael never interrupted her or jumped to Latoya's defense.

You need to stop assuming that Michael was incapable of negative human emotions of anger, hurt, disappointment, etc. Yes, he was a wonderful human being. Far kinder, generous, gentle than most, but a human nonetheless.
Weren't those Glenda tapes proven to be false?

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

^No, they weren't. They are real.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

If the brothers want to tour and perform the J5 and Jacksons songs, they can :)

There's several reasons they didn't tour since 1984

-Lack of support/sponsors/promoters. Part of the reason why the tour Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Randy were planning for 2300 Jackson Street never happened
-Lack of interest after the Victory Tour
-Mismanagement
-The brothers not being motivated/dedicated enough
-Solo work. After the Victory album and tour, Jermaine went back to doing solo work, Michael quit and went solo fully, Marlon quit and went solo for a brief time before quitting the music business, Jackie went to write songs, Tito went solo and managed 3T, and Randy was a executive for some indie labels (both folded). Maybe they wanted to find their own path and wanted to focus on other things.
-Fueding among the brothers. They haven't been on the same page for years, and that showed during the reality show and other ventures

But now if they want to come together and actually pull it off, good for them.....

Now if they try to perform MICHAEL'S solo stuff, then that's a BIG problem lol

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

I'd see even a bigger problem with Jermaine trying to promote his own stuff during the shows 'cause let's be honest, he hasn't really had a big deal of hits. Performing Michael's solo hits could backfire big time for the group, as I see a chance of them being booed out. So there really is very limited they can do. They can do it, but they'd have to stick to J5/TJ exclusevely. Possibly using Michael's voice in playback during his parts.

I wouldn't mind using video of Michael's solo performances f.ex. from the Victory Tour, but I doubt they'd have the right to do so.

As far as I know we don't know 100% that they are real and equally they haven't been proven false either. The big question mark is over the transcripts which contain the 'juicy stuff' of which I don't think anybody has actually heard those tapes and where there are some tapes they are of very bad quality.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

ironic, they are going on tour .. on their own..

all it took was Michael's death to get them off their lazy buttoms

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

they better not try and RAPE Michael's stuff. for their OWN SAKE - they should stay away from his work.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their National Reunion Tour in July

It would be cool if they release new album that they planned in the reality show, maybe produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Maybe with some outtakes from Triumph and Victory featuring Michael.

The juicy stuff with 'S' girl were fabricated. Whatever is available on tape and on places like youtube are real. Any fan who listens to the available material will know that it's genuine.

Well we can only say what we believe. But I do agree with you, I believe those first 4 (I think they were 4) are real and the juicy stuff is most probably fabricated, for the simple reason that they are either not available on audio or are very unclear. I only listened once because it made me feel guilty.
