AEG Live attorneys state that deposition testimony from Katherine Jackson and two of her children revealed that Michael Jackson "had a decades-long history of severe substance abuse, including an addiction to prescription painkillers and repeated interventions.''

Now this is something that I don't understand.
AEG says that MJ had decades long history of substance abuse and they got that info from Katherine, Tito, and other sibling of MJ's.
Tito + other brothers were saying on Piers that Michael was ok before June 2009, then Katherine says papers execrated MJ's addiction.

I suppose I'm not the only one to find this whole thing bizarre! They are switching their mind faster than traffic lights changes the colours!

^ To be fair to mrs j she has never said she saw mj impaired. It was only on that oprah interview that she suddenly changed tack and said she had heard (from her children presumably) that mj was an addict, odd seeing that she was the only one who had much contact with him. As for the other siblings i can't keep up with their various stories, jerms for eg seems to hold 2 contradictory viewpoints quite happily at the same time - mj fine and raring to go on tii/mj dying on his feet on tii before 25 june.

Yes, but who cares about their case failing, apart from jackson family members - it's the further hurt to mj's reputation that's important. All the constant refs to his autopsy showing a healthy body, the eye witnesses of those round him saying he was doing ok will just be forgotten in the avalanche of bad publicity. The media will just eat this up.

So, if it comes to such a point, are the children going to testify to things that would indicate that their dad had a decades long severe substance abuse?

It is not up to AEG to protect Michael, but it should be up to his family to protect Michael from unnecessary media sensationalism.

Didn't Katherine tell Piers Morgan that Michael's drug use was exaggerated? She never saw him impaired or out of it and she would visit him out the blue sometimes. I have a hard time believing people who never saw him for years at a time and that includes his family. I am sure in these depositions they have to give dates and things like that. Don't they have to when these interventions and problems occurred?

I am just tired of the flip flop responses by his family depending on who they talk to. I can handle the truth because nothing will change my love for Michael. i don't know who to believe anymore about anything. It is frustrating.

You know what Katherine is the only Jackson could see Michael at any time, he literally distanced himself from the rest of the jacksons. It's no secret, everyone around Michael said so. So who the hell could know better than Katherine? Those deadbeat jobless brothers? They can't even see Michael. Michael said they always beg him to do something or give him trouble, reunion? Money?shady business deals? I am so so tired of the Jacksons. They don't deserve any of my respect.

Thanks Ivy as I thought Tito and Rebbie. It will be interesting to see what Jermaine has to say. And Las Vegas thing I wonder if this is when she ran or car or when Randy ran his car are when whatever took place. And Rebbie laughing during this whole thing shows you the kind of person she is. Remember her sipping on that smoothie with Tito next to her?

This is my take on the subject.

If you read the above 4 page summary, I think we can all agree that this trial will be a mess.

I think AEG will absolutely prove that they did not select or hire Murray on their own. Bodyguards testimony at Murray trial of how he was introduced to Michael, Murray saying he and Michael were friends and Michael's kids confirming they knew Murray from before establishes that Michael knew Murray long before AEG ever came into the picture. I'm pretty sure multiple people from AEG will testify that they didn't want to hire Murray, most probably they would also show communications among themselves - such as emails - in this regard.

For the second part of the claim that AEG coerced or dictated Michael to be given Propofol by Murray, they'll go with establishing a 20 year Propofol history. It seems like they'll go back to Ratner and History tour and bring in every doctor possible. 41 medical document requests demonstrates this.

Estate has no choice but to turn over the medical documents but it seems like they are trying to do their best to protect Michael's privacy by establishing confidentiality requirements to protects Michael's medical information from public and media.

Furthermore they will use Jackson's own words and claims of interventions against them to demonstrate that this was something present in Michael's life again long before AEG came into picture. So it seems intervention claims is going to hurt this lawsuit.

I'm not quite sure about how the financials will come into play. That's something that we'll need to wait and see.

Depositions - even the minimal parts that are filed - is quite interesting. AEG saying that all questions are relevant and needed to establish credibility is also very telling.

In my personal opinion this trial will be a mess both for Michael and the Jacksons. I don't think AEG is holding back and they'll defend themselves even if that means going the drug addict route and embarrassing Jacksons. Get ready for it.

Wow! :eek: This will be very exciting. :ph34r: I'm curious to know what will be revealed. I feel that the family will be put in a very embarrassing situation and we have lot of unmet informations and that will prove that they were not so close to Michael and did not know a lot about him how they're saying..... :fear:

That last bit .....of Rebbie laughing shows how seriously they took those "interventions". They were a bunch of amateurs trying to break into MJ's house for God knows what....and decided it would called an intervention.

An intervention is done with the help of professionals.

Can they really think that having people dig into Michael's personal life is worth it? I can understand that the prosecution had to "go there" in terms of putting out some personal things but that was for getting some justice for Michael. Are we suppose to believe that this is really about justice with this lawsuit?

If this becomes too embarrasing to the family, I bet this lawsuit is dropped by them. If Michael's name and image are the only things taking the licks, then I'm sure they will proceed.

I think what katerine means by "they" she means the other doctors that michael dealt with in his life

And something else if any of this were true and if the family really thought something was up with Michael why didn't Katherine go? IMO she did not go because she knew nothing was wrong. And they wanted her to go so badly why? Unlike the rest of them she had access to Michael she could show up unannounced. The woman when her son got sick in 1995 was in NYC the next day to be with him would not sit back and read her watchtower magazine while the rest of the family went to "save" him.

a friend of mine has pointed out that Katherine said she never met Murray on Piers Morgan interview and on deposition but she said Dr. Murray told her that Michael was dead on Oprah interview.

OK thank you. Frank said in his book Michael had hired a doctor to help him out and when he told his family that a doctor was helping him out his big sister did not believe him.

It's really heartbreaking. Either way it goes, Michael loses. The fact that all of this is at the hands of his own family... well it's just sad.

The Jack$ons couldn't care less. Throwing MJ under the bus for profit is nothing new to them.

At the same time they are also busy exploiting the Kids for profit. Selling them to the highest bidder such as Oprah, Melissa Johnson, Howard Man, Global Live Entertainment.

They're even plotting to parade the kids on stage to boost sales of the Jack$ons tour. and finally and not the least, Paris has been sold again to Oprah, the same person who staunchly believes that MJ is a molester.

Guys, this is just the beginning, it will get worse as time goes on. As Ivy said, get ready for it.

There you have it--Katherine and 2 of her children claimed that Michael had a drug problem and there were interventions. Didn't we say since this case was initially filed that all their drug talk would screw them. This also shows how stupid they are. If you are giving a deposition for a case you want to win, why would you give information that would hurt your case? On the other hand, I guess they had to say that because they have run to the media with the same information since 09.

I am amazed at how much of the procedures have not been met in this case. I mean, they have not even done a majority of the depositions, but I guess this was caused by the delaying tactics of the defense. We can expect that AEG wants to win this case and unfortunately it will take some major dirtying of Michael to accomplish this. However, we can't blame them because the dirt was provided by his own family.

I notice that the lawyers did not ask Tito and Rebbie about the dates/time frames of the interventions. If they have to show decades long drug abuse, wouldn't they have to show dates and times? Also, I would have like to see them ask about the circumstances that led to the interventions and have them detail the intervention procedure they took with Michael. I guess these will be explored more on the witness stand?

That i can guarantee you that the Jack$ons will give conflicting accounts. each of them giving irreconcilable versions of the so-called interventions. They will make things up as they go along. and that's how they will be caught.

Thank you Ivy for the wonderful summary, it is sadly just as I thought. It is hard to have compassion for a family (who had suffered an awful tragedy) when they seem to be slowly, but surely damaging the reputation of deceased sibling.

As someone else said, - when will it end?

Thats right, she did say that she never met Murray.
