Bad Tour DVD [CLOSED] Cont. discussion in The Estate Of Michael Jackson Re Wembley DVD Quality

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

That wasn't my point. My point was that the people were requesting LA89 after seeing the clips from it, those who requested Wembley wanted it because they heard it was good.

Yeah I got your point.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

Ugh. ONCE again. That clip was extremely compressed. You can't see Michael's feet at ALL. The quality will be much better. But honestly, the quality looks MUCH better than I expected it to. The Estate is not stupid enough to release that quality. It. Will. Be. Much. Better.

And again, there is no Blu-ray.

the picture is blurred and washed out. you dont get that from compression. dont fool yourself.
thats 3rd party copy. the worst this should have looked is like buenos aires tape.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

Yep, it's "compressed", because it's 20 something year old VHS.How exactly this reminds me when Breaking news was released - oooh, the quality is not good enough, Michael was singing in bath, Michael was sick... stop with the excuses. Sony are fucking up again.

LMAO, this reminds me of when Breaking News streamed. "OMG, his vocals are so compressed, you can't hear his voice. When it gets released, they will compress it less so you can hear Michael!!!"

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

That's not fair because those who wanted this Wembley had no idea about the quality. If they/we knew about this quality, I'm sure L.A would be a better choice. Or any other concert with better quality (second leg).

I agree, Plus, I don't think the Estate would choose to release this if they had a better concert, come on. They're not puppets.
But it doesn't make sense that this is the only concert they could get, just my op.

No. Not Sony. They are releasing what Estate give them to release! Estate should be blamed.

thats worst then all the bootlegs of yokohama sold officially. we always said, official release will never look that bad. who ever though, it can be even worst.

That is not true. Look at the reporter and then look at Wembley quality.

And the point is not just the shitty quality. The point is that there are many concerts filmed and those films exists, but the Estate is once again incapable of doing things right. They paid huge amount of money for 12 fake songs, but they are being cheap for this??

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

I think people are overreacting. They still have to remaster it and stuff first before they release it, I don't think this is what we will see on the DVD.

I don't see how this relates to the situation with the Cascio songs either, and I was one of the most vocal about those.

Even if this is the quality we will see, I really couldn't care less. I have waited years to see this concert so the quality won't bother me.

that proves its all about the money. else sony would have said "this is very bad quality. we can't release this". but does someone wonder. they put fake vocals and songs on official album.

boycott this whole release, else we will be screwd again and again. when its going to end? if you buy just the cds its like you accept that they fucked up us again.

It clearly relates to the Cascio situation where we had people saying "the final version of Breaking News will sound more like MJ and sound better because this one here is compressed". I'm not saying it's completly the same, because it's obviouslt two different situations (there's no impersonator here)

The problem now is we have fans hoping that Sony magically can "restore and remaster" this VHS. We now got many people who knows stuff about restoring, and they say it's simple not possible to make it look that much better. Pluss, remember that we're suppose to blow this picture up to TV size.

I just played my Destiny Tour Live In London concert, and the quality is even better.

If that's the raw VHS quality that was shown in snippets, that isn't restorable.

I'll buy a good product. So if the double CD turns out to be good I'll buy it. And everyone should buy it. Those boycotts are just stupid, because you are just hurting MJ. On the other hand if the product sucks like Vision or MICHAEL then I won't buy it.

I've seen the clip. But that was broadcast on a widescreen, which is 16:9. The DVD is going to be 4:3. They had to enlarge the image to fit the 16:9 screen, which is why Michael's feet aren't visible. Scaled back, I guarantee the quality is going to be good. Not DVD quality, but good enough for EVERYONE to enjoy it.

No boycotts, either. Many fans here just want to see Michael perform. Most (including me) hope the quality is good. Some don't care either way. But there's no need to get angry or disappointed about it yet. Wait until we get an official clip (not from a TV source, an OFFICIAL clip) from YouTube to judge the quality.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

So according to the experts here, it means this is going to look worse than Yokohama?

There's no experts here :p
But as I said, IF the raw VHS footage quality looks the same as in snippets, then the DVD won't look much better. That's not even enhanceable. So yes, it would look WAY more worse than Yokohama.

Well they have said it is going to be restored, not me. I'm just repeating what they have said.

It won't bother me if this is the quality, as long as we get to see it.

I have waited years for this, now people aren't wanting it because the quality is bad? Screw that, I've waited years and years to see this footage in any quality I could get it in and now people are going to try and prevent it being released because they don't feel the quality is up to standards?

The VHS fact itself is ridiculous, hilarious, mediocre. etc. And after waiting 25 years you are THAT desperate to take ANYTHING? It's an official release for Estates sake not BAD tour amateur video filmed by fan! That's about the same quality we're getting.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

Can't the Estate digitally remaster the concert footage to DVD quality? When old TV shows are released on DVD, most if not all of them are digitally remastered.

Even IF it's stretched back to 4:3, the quality won't be much better.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

Yes I am. I've waited years and dreamed of seeing this concert. Signed multiple petitions over the years, I just want to see it.

As long as it's pro shot and I can see and hear everything then I could care less.

It's clearly the only Bad Tour Wembley footage they have, or they would opt to use the better quality version. So yeah, I'll take it and be very happy that I've been able to see it.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

I guess there were taken masters and remastered to release those shows. In this case thye just take very very very very poor VHS tape and try to enhance it which isn't really possible.

you cant expect money for such thing. we know how it looks. the regular costumer will request his money back.

yeah, that will improve the demand of mj concerts.

who wants to bet that in the end it will turn out that this isnt mjs tape at all. they got it from some trader.

You'll see that the picture quality will not be much better. I'm not saying that anyone should boycott it, but usually I buy original DVDs and CDs because of picture and sound quality. Something like this I can watch on youtube if I want to, so I'll be buying just 2CD standard edition.

You can? I know I can't even see Michael's face..

Orly? Then where's the blu-ray. They didn't look hard enough for better source I guess. Cause there COULD be blu-ray.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

it definitely relates to the cascio situation. I think we're getting a clear picture of what's going on here: They don't have access to any of the good stuff.

Knowing michael, he probably hid it somewhere (sounds like the making of an awesome nic cage film, no?) So what do they do instead? They release whatever they have because they know they're going to make money off of it anyway because we're a totally rabid fanbase. Hence, fake songs, poor quality recordings, whatever.

A lot of people have been saying it's "better than nothing." i don't agree. i CERTAINLY don't agree, when it comes to fake songs, that's completely unacceptable in any circumstance. But i also don't agree on poor quality. I would definitely like to watch mj wembley in any quality, but it's NOT ok for a public release by the estate. If they have this and want to give it to us, i think that's great, but to sell it as a dvd? where other, non-fans will see it? it's embarrassing. it's also horrible PR on their part and they're ruining their already damaged relatonship with the fan base.
