Wish I could say the same about Jermaine, but I just can't. Those pants/tights he's wearing, gracious. He tries.
He must have heard you. For the glasgow concert i read that jerms wore a kilt. All the girls in the front row were apparently trying to touch his er.. sporran.

Their uk concerts got really good reviews in the press.

The Jacksons return to Rock With You
By Kirstin Lynn 1 March 2013 07:00 GMT

Unity Tour: Together for the first time since 1982.

Following Glasgow's two day affair with the biggest boy band in the world right now, last night, the SECC's little brother next door housed the biggest boy band of the 70's, bringing a combined age of 233 years to one stage, and dance moves with the precision of over 40 years rehearsal. Taking projectile shoes out of the equation, there might have been a higher chance of injury on stage, than off it, but together for the first time since the early 80's, The Jacksons, were far from fatigued.

A household name that has continued to feed the tabloids with equal weightings of success and controversy, last night the original showbiz family brought back the innocence of their early years, in a shined-up and squeaky clean show. Paving the way with a blaring introduction to Can You Feel It, The Jacksons' band were a bulked-up nine-piece capable of challenging their total age, and their combined vocal volume, the four remaining brothers ensuring all eyes were on them with a grand entrance embellished in more sequins than a drag queen disco.

Empty seats amongst the more modest than expected crowd were hidden as fans leaped to attention, with Jermaine Jackson aiming to please, neatly pressed in full kilt, though with the traditional 'man-skirt' and an elegant poise, looking evermore like Grace Jones.

With wider and more startlingly white smiles than a school of sharks, synchronised dance routines and wide-armed waves were effortlessly thrown out to their fluid crowd as Blame It On the Boogie took over. Neatly running from swooning Motown harmonies to floor-sliding disco classics, ecstatic fans hung on to the hits that have heavily influenced and shaped popular music today.

The show took a breather after its initial burst on to the stage, with a power ballad section that lulled, and nostalgic images of their childhood were protected above the band, where the biggest cheers were reserved for Michael. Building up to Good Times, where a line of 'I want to see you again' summoned a glowing image of their much-talked-about brother in the pale-faced peak of his adult career, superfans (also tending to sport the foil meet and greet laminates) publicly broadcasted their somewhat overwhelming love for the bizarre star.

Not dwelling for too long in their loss, The Jacksons took the crowd back to 1969, where their eye-watering strip lights turned the many shades of disco for a classic upbeat medley to bop around to, including I Want You Back and ABC.

With the band shimmying around the stage in pristine synchronicity, if One Direction had stayed around an extra night for a dance off, I know easily who would have won.

Throwing in some crotch grabbing tribute squeals that were more Leigh Francis than MJ, the four remaining brothers danced their way off stage, leaving the crowd finger clicking their way to the door. Reliving their early years before retirement, amongst many things, The Jacksons certainly maintain a finely tuned ability to entertain.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

Didn't that fool Brown state that Jermaine had lost pounds trying to be Michael. How come Jermaine still has "men tits" & a tummy?

On another note, glad the crowd is having a good time. I think he looks OK in his tights & kilt. I am sorry to say but I LOVE how men look in kilts. Something about a kilt drives me nuts because you can see the muscles in their legs.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

I'm going to see them today at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. My opinion on the group is mixed, to say the least. They're a pale imitation of their former selves, but at least they're actually doing something. Plus, I'm genuinely a fan of Marlon because the guy has some amazing moves! As for Jermaine and his... Er, eclectic wardrobe, he's there mostly for the comedy value for me.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

I'm so bummed that they cancelled Cincinnati, and then I never got the chance to see them. :( I had tickets, and did get a refund, but it was extremely disappointing that I didn't get to see the brothers live.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

Can't wait to see them today! I've never seen any of the Jacksons live (well except on the 1,000s of youtube videos i've seen) :)

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

I attended the concert in Stockholm! It was amazing, I was impressed by the energy, excpecially Marlon. I also managed to meet the brothers (!) and they signed my Opus and Jermaine signed his book (you are not alone) :)

How did you get to meet the jacksons?

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

I went to Manchester on Wednesday night to see the Jacksons and can honestly say I was really impressed especially with Marlon, his energy showed no bounds it brought back so many memories for me as I am of a certain age to remember the 1st time around in my home city of Liverpool 1972 I think it was at the Empire there, then of course later the Victory tour. I am not ashamed to say I shed a few tears during the show but I am glad after some debate with myself that I went, the brothers allowed photo's and signed autographs for at least 25 mins after the show I got my You Are Not Alone book signed by all the brothers the only one who didn't greet the paying public and just jumped straight on to the coach afterwards was Jermaine but Marlon took my book onto the coach and got him to sign it there, it says Thank You Jemaine Jackson (impossible to tell if spelt Jackson or Jacksun LOL) and completed with 2 smiley faces! My advice is if you do get the chance to go then do so, it's history and who knows if the chance will come around again.

That's the spirit. I'm going to see them on tuesday and can't wait. I was still worried that it will get canceled like all the other german dates.

"Empty Seats." "Modest than expected crowd."

That must break Jermaine's heart. Since, in his delusional mind, he's the SECOND coming of his brother Michael.

Answer to Moonwalker117:

First of all, I went to the building where the concert would take place later that night to do some research. I walked through a door (I could see members of the Jackson-crew inside, unloading equipment for the show) and an alarm started but I just walked, tried to look confident. When I met people, I looked them in their eyes and said "Hi". I met this guy David, who was the stage manager of the tour. We talked and I told him that I'm a huge fan of Michael and his brothers. He promised me to put me on a list for the meet and greet. And he did! Fans could pay 200 euro to access the meet and greet, but I didn't have to. And the brothers didn't sign anything (you could buy presigned posters for 50 euro) in the room, except for my things. I brought my big limited edition Opus and I think they understood that I was a huge fan. I also got Jermaines book about Michael signed by him. We had a nice talk, took a picture and I'm so happy!

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

i was yesterday at the munich concert. it was cool. not that much people, but they did a great job.
the first time to see them.
and i didnt saw a jermaine jackson performing like michael jackson. at no point. cant understand the postings of some people here.
better they should visit a concert to convince them self.

it was a special feeling to come back to the place where i saw michael the last time. to remember what happened in the past there, all the memories coming back. and now they were here. and that helps. give me a better feeling to manage the situation from the last 4 years. it looks like it comes to a close with this concert.
thanks for that to the jacksons! :)

In München yesterday they played for 2000 people. Olympiahalle has a capacity for 12000-15000 people. All other German concerts were cancelled.

"Thriller gehen anders"

So war das Jacksons-Konzert in der Olyimpia-Halle

München - Die Stones ohne Mick Jagger? U2 ohne Bono?

Thriller gehen anders.

So the Jackson concert was in the hall Olyimpia

Munich - The Stones without Mick Jagger? U2 without Bono? Herbert Grönemeyer without? Sounds impossible, impossible. The Jackson tried it anyway - and were also without luminary Michael guest at the yawning empty Olympiahalle.

The brothers Tito (lr), Jackie and Marlon Jackson give a press conference in Beverly Hills (archive picture). After more than 20 years of Michael Jackson's brothers to go back on tour together. The Jacksons give on 05.03.2013 in Munich, Germany, the only concert of their worldwide "Unity" tour.

Skepticism was appropriate to read shrill in recent years, the news of the weird family. Since 2001 were Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and not on stage - and they kept it fairly brave. Hits like "ABC" are indestructible, and for Jackson covers such as "Rock With You" gave it the most applause. Ambience before maybe 2000 fans was still sad, and finally the remaining Jackson reminded more of a capable cover band. Thriller go differently .

If only they didn't obsessively try to copy Michael's style (choreography, costumes, and Jermaine) or sing his songs, I'd say they would get more fans to see them, but as they go on now, it is just too iffy.

As far as I know, the surviving members from Queen don't sing songs from Freddie M solo albums if they go on tour, only what they recorded together. Jackson 4, take a note.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

In all fairness, if anyone has the right to cover Mj songs then it is the brothers. There shows have been great and the reviews have been great. They don't really copy Michael at all so not quite sure where that idea comes from.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

well this is a good review but pay attention to the very first sentence

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...5/The-Jacksons-Hammersmith-Apollo-review.html

Great music, dancing and a real spirit of fraternal togetherness made The jacksons' gig at Hammersmith Apollo the most entertaining tribute to Michael Jackson that Neil McCormick has seen.

It's not just the fans, even the good media reviews see it as a tribute to Michael.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

What's wrong with the brothers paying tribute to Michael? Surely they have more right than anyone to do so? I guess it is a tribute in the sense that they are doing all those old songs, including several that were never performed before. The actual Mj tribute bit consists of about ten per cent of the show.

No, they don't, but the members of Queen are not Freddie's brothers (also his solo songs never were hits, other than Barcelona). Also, all the Michael songs they perform on the show, except I can't let her get away (which is used as a groove to introduce the band) and Gone to soon (which is a tribute to Michael), are the songs they also performed on the Triumph and Victory tours. And really, so what? These are great songs. They love to play them and the audience loves to hear them. So where is the harm?? All the fans applaude all other kinds of artists doing tributes to Michael by playing his songs, but his own family is viewed as devils because they dare to play their little brother's songs. Seriously???

And no one is copying anyone. They are brothers, who shared the stage for the first 20 years of their careers. So similarities are only natural. But still, there is no excessive copying going on. Lot of the dance moves stem back from the time they were together.

I was at the show too and I enjoyed myself. I liked it. Obviously it's not the same as with Michael, but it was good nevertheless. Shame that only so few people came.

What's wrong with the brothers paying tribute to Michael?

Did I say there's anything wrong with it? No

the point was even the media doesn't see it as a tour of jacksons, they see it as a tribute to michael.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

^I never saw it as a tour of them either now you mention it actually..Esp since they play his songs, it's not wrong since they're brother and all what Prometheus77 just said, just a bit weird in my opinion(for them to see this as a REAL tou). I've never been to Michael's concerts since I wasn't even born(or just a few months old) so I guess they really are the closest I can get to him.

Geez. Some people. On a typical night they play 28 songs. Here is the setlist:

1 Can You Feel It
2 Blame It on the Boogie
3 I Wanna Be Where You Are
4 Rock With You
5 Show You the Way to Go
6 Lovely One
7 We're Here To Entertain You
8 Good Times
9 Lookin' Through the Windows
10 Time Waits for No One
11 Heaven Knows I Love You Girl
12 Push Me Away
13 Man of War
14 Gone Too Soon
15 I Want You Back / ABC / The Love You Save / Never Can Say Goodbye
16 All I Do Is Think Of You
17 I'll Be There
18 Dynamite
19 Let's Get Serious
20 Do What You Do
21 Can't Let Her Get Away
22 This Place Hotel
23 Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
24 Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough
25 Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)

Now, let me break that down for you:

10 Jacksons songs
9 Jackson 5 songs
3 Jermaine Jackson Songs songs
6 Michael Jackson songs

And of those 6 MJ songs they played 3 songs on the Triumph and Victory tours, 1 further song on their Motown tours and 1 is a tribute. So really, they are not out to play MJ songs, they are out to put a good mix of songs together, with the majority being none MJ songs (22 songs to 6 songs).

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

^I know, and Ive seen the setlist. Its just that while I think that it is not wrong to perform Michael's song, and more then half of what they perform is when they formed a group, I still dont see it as The Jacksons tour. They're incomplete. I may keep comparing like Destiny's Child performing without Beyonce or something, but it aint making sense to some.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

^^And what's the alternative for them? To lie next to MJ's coffin? For years they wanted to do something again as the Jacksons, but couldn't because Michael didn't want to. Now that they are finally doing it without him, it doesn't make sense for some and seems to be wrong. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

actually if they had started to do their own thing in the 80s when Michael left the group for good, now this wouldn't be an issue. As they never established themselves without Michael, now people have problem with seeing them on their own. They don't raise much interest and some even see it as a tribute act.

And again no one said it's wrong, it just isn't that successful that's all.

Re: Official: The Jackson Start Their UNITY TOUR in July

I agree with Ivy.
Basically brothers were playing dead for 28 years because MJ didn't want to tour with them, and after MJ's passing they got a new lease of life, and mostly what they do, is something to do with MJ. Have they got no identities of their own?
What I have seen from their costumes, choreography, its all Michael.
Jermaine, of course makes it even worse dressing identical clothing as MJ and posing as MJ.

24.1n019.Jackson1.c--300x200.jpg

to compare to original
24.1n019.Jackson2.c--300x300.jpg

Also, lots of Marlon's dance moves are directly taken from Michael's routines.

My recommendation to them is, lay off Michael stuff from their concerts and do their own thing, establish themselves as Jackson 4, not MJ tribute act.
