The below article has a slightly different version of the events, they say that when Paris called the suicide hotline , she had already taken 20 motrin pills
and cut her wrist.
If you click on the link, there is a video with what is supposed to be the 911 dispatcher (overdose), and the 911 call (overdose+ cut).
So if this is true , it is actually very serious, definitely not only a cry for help. Paris realised what she had done after the fact, and called an emergency suicide hotline.

Paris Jackson is “getting appropriate medical attention” after an early-morning apparent suicide attempt in which a police radio dispatcher indicated a girl of the same age at her address had used pills and a knife.
The audio of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio dispatch, obtained by ABC News, begins by stating the Calabasas, Calif., address where the daughter of Michael Jackson, 15, lives, and then explains that an unspecified 15-year-old female “ODd on 20 Motrin and cut her arm with a kitchen knife.”

The Sheriff’s Department released a statement earlier today that it had responded to an emergency on Jackson’s street and, “as a result, medical treatment was provided to a patient who was transported to a hospital.”
A Jackson family lawyer, Perry Sanders, did not specify the nature of the emergency in a written statement earlier today.
“Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are,” the statement said. “It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you [her father]. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family’s privacy.”

According to a statement from Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson – Michael Jackson’s brothers and Paris Jackson’s uncles – the teenager is “safe and doing fine.”
“Thank you for the outpouring of concern and support for Paris,” they said in their statement. “We truly appreciate you respecting our family’s privacy at this time.”
Debbie Rowe, Paris Jackson’s mother, also released a statement: “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts for Paris at this time and their respect for the family’s privacy.”
The L.A. Fire Department responded to a 911 call from Paris Jackson’s Calabasas, Calif. home at 1:27 a.m., KABC in Los Angeles reported.

An emergency at the same time at an unspecified home on Jackson’s street also included Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station deputies of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the sheriff’s department said in a prepared statement, and, “as a result, medical treatment was provided to a patient, who was transported to a hospital.”
Since the death of their father in 2009, Paris and her two brothers have been living much more public lives.
Late Tuesday night PT, just before the emergency, Jackson tweeted, “i wonder why tears are salty?” and in a tweet an hour later she quoted the Beatles, writing, “yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they’re here to stay”
According to People magazine, Paris Jackson has been seen spending more time with her biological mother, Rowe. The magazine reported that Rowe came to watch Paris Jackson in her school play, and Jackson has spent time at Rowe’s horse ranch in Palmdale, Calif.
“Paris has been going through a lot of teenage angst and feels a little bit unloved,” a source told the magazine in April. “Three months ago Paris reached out to her mother and told her she wanted to establish a relationship with her. Debbie was open to it and [Jackson's guardian and grandmother] Katherine Jackson is supportive.”
