Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

What Beyonce did was different but now what? To me she did it because she wanted her album to sell well. I am not trying to be mean or anything like that but it seems like its a competition out there. Her last album wasn't the big hit she hoped. I am not saying either she doesn't want to put out good music. Someday cds will probably be no more and everything will be on iTunes or whatever. I like Beyonce it's not anything like that.

If there is a new album for Michael coming. I would like to go to the store and get it. Why? We don't have Michael anymore and I would actually like to have a copy of it in my hands. That's just me. I know the times are changing.

What Beyoncé did reminisces a bit of what we've heard MJ had planned...

Side note, what I find interesting and I want people to remember this.... Now when we (MJ fans at large) become worry heads about a little album info leaking, and it not building the way we expect in a specific time frame.. Lets remember that promotion has not started, as Beyoncé "surprisingly dropped an album, it's only a surprise to us the general public. The die hard fans have known about her working on music for a while the same way we know an MJ album is coming...

Just remember that people don't really know about this album for the most part, 99% are specifically MJ flowerers that know... So when promotion ACTUALLY starts, it can get attention.

(I am saying this solely because I know a while back people were worried and complaining about how info is being leaked)

i think they should follow the trend set by beyonce and release the album completely unexpected on iTunes with the last photoshoots as a bonus! that'd be immense, and then when it's out they can advertise it EVERYWHERE & they'll have more of a chance to reach number one, especially having no leaks of the other song's to be featured! i would LOVE that, i know other people will also :D should also get it promoted on the itunes home page with a video montage and a snippet of a brand new never before heard song!
I think Beyoncé’s strategy was great for her album, and I think it could have worked for Michael if he was still alive and was the first artist to release a new album as a surprise. But I don’t think it would work for other artists as well as for Beyoncé simply because it wouldn’t be a new and innovative way to release an album anymore. Beyoncé was the first, and now others doing the same would likely be seen as Beyoncé copycats.

Also, I don’t think it would work for a posthumous release. Everything is totally different when the artist is no longer with us. Even though Beyoncé didn’t promote her album the traditional way, it’s not like she’s been nowhere to be seen this year. She has actually done quite a bit of promo - the Superbowl performance, a very successful tour, magazine covers, commercials etc. She has been quite visible this year, and people were excited to hear new music from her. I think it’s hard to get the public that excited about unreleased music from an artist who’s no longer here. I think a posthumous release needs promotion for it to be successful. Hardcore fans will buy it the week it’s released, but casual fans won’t even notice it’s out if it’s not promoted.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

how long that we know of have they been working on the album? Tidbits about producers working on the album started late 2012/early 2013 am i right??

IF Michael were around, and touring than I'd say GO FOR IT, the idea of unexpected music being released.. We've heard he planned to release singles while doing This Is It which is a very similar take on it all.. But without the artist even here to promote physically, it needs SOMETHING to hype it up.

Beyoncé is on tour, she is IN right now so it worked for her. Michael is sadly not here, and he's been out of the mainstream radio play for too long to get great sale attention with a quite release..

Michaels music would need a grand release, huge statement for all to hear.. Otherwise it would get overlooked!

Michael in the 90's, that would be a different story

If you mean if Michael's popularity in 2009 was the same as it was in the 1990s, then yes I agree - he could've pulled off a similar move through iTunes. Although if this was, say, 1991, Michael could not pull this off. The reason I say that is because albums would have to be sold physically through 'brick and mortar' stores and thus info about the unannounced album would've leaked WEEKS before it's release date (in a similar fashion to how employees at these stores are usually the ones who leak albums a week or two early).

It could only be done digitally (where news could actually be kept suppressed), hence one of the reasons why Beyoncé's new album was an iTunes exclusive for the first week or so :)

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

^ the popularity of the early 90's for today is what I meant of course.. I agree with what you're saying

Yup - Michael Prince tweeted his first hint that he was working on new material in November 2012, if memory serves correctly. His first direct hint, the picture with Brad Buxer, was uploaded in January of this year I believe. If we aren't over-reading this, that's a good year of work.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

don't know why but i've got a slight feeling they may do something on christmas day, bad25 was announced like 4-5 month's before release, it's entirely possible! especially if they're planning a release date at around march-april time. what do you guys think?

Absolutely not. Would make no sense. Christmas day is not a day when people are focusing on news or announcements. It is unlikely we will hear anything for at least a couple of months.

Mark my words. It will be released in June.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I don't want it in June. For some reason I feel not a good idea and I don't want to get off topic but that whole Wade thing is in June. I want the attention focused on the music this time.

I agree. I've stated that before myself. I also believe there will be a major motion picture release of some sort. History volume 2 is a possibility with mention of History tour 3D that Branca mentioned some time back. Whatever it will be it will be a big release none the less. Should be a exiting year ahead.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

LOL @ even thinking knowing what the Estate will do. No one knows, it's impossible to predict.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Love your confidence but seriously...

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Ok, I get it it.
The Wade thing in June may push the MJ Estate to avoid June, BUT I have been anticipating a big 5th anniversary celebration for YEARS and have repeatedly stated so on this board. I would be astounded if the MJ Estate don't do something to coincide with it, and I actually have real trouble understanding why MJ fans seem to dislike the idea.

Pentum: When it comes to dead celebrities anniversary celebrations are not just predictable but in my mind are a certainty. It's not a case of IF, but a case of WHEN. Wade is causing trouble at the moment so the MJ Estate may put off the 5th anniversary celebration, but if they do that the next big occasion will be the 10th anniversary which seems too far in the future IMO. I think they'll be planning for the 5th anniversary. I have stated that I expect the new album then., I have also said that I have hoped for anniversary documentary and tribute
concert etc. It just seems predictable and likely IMO. Judging from the recent registration of 'Michaelfest' it looks as though my thoughts are going to be realised..

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Maybe because they shouldn't be using the man's death as a cash cow? "Look he's been dead 5 years so buy this DVD!" It's just stupid. It should be released when it's ready and a time that has no relevance such as his death.

I don´t get the thing about celebrating on June 25.. it´s just not possible to celebrate that day.. :(

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I hate the damn negativity, I'm hoping michaelfest will be brought to fruition and Michael's art, his integrity & his dominant legacy will be celebrated the way it should be, witnessed with the heart, the ears in a sense of a mesmeric state of bliss, that catches you, and holds you right there in the moment.. one final glimpse. Michael deserves everything that will extend and support all he worked for In his life.

I don’t know what the whole Wade thing means for the album release, but I don’t get why fans would be opposed to releasing a new album on the 5th year anniversary. It’s not about celebrating his death, but acknowledging the fact that an anniversary like that means the media/general public will pay more attention to Michael than usual. I get that many feel like it would be more appropriate to commemorate his birthday than death, but usually when it’s been 5/10 etc. years from the death of a major star there will be tributes or articles about the star’s life work etc. in the media. Why not use that attention to market a new album?

It’s not easy to create interest for a posthumous release, but it would help if people were talking about Michael anyway. More publicity would hopefully mean more sales for the album, which means more people listening to Michael’s music. Isn’t that what we want? People listening to Michael’s music again?

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Whenever it is I just want the focus on the music and really look at Michael not just as a person but an artist. When Michael was here and had new albums out people were not doing that and that was not fair to all the hard work he did. I want him to be celebrated very much and that is my hope this time.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

No one gives a crapnaboit wades allegations..no one will take it seriously and it the estate is not going to plan around his little @$$... Sorry Michael is much bigger than this.. It will be just another mews mentioning about Michael that ppl will not give a crap about..

Unfortunately that's not true. I guarantee that if this album drops at the same time as the Wade trial, every media outlet will either report on (a) only the trial, ignoring the album itself, or (b) the album, but throw a mention of the trial in there somewhere.

the world should know wade is doing this to fill his wallet, he has no evidence and I'm sure Michael will be once again proved innocent within the first week.

They should doesn't mean they will.

I'm just waiting... any speculation just makes me more anxious in a bad impatient way.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I cant wait for this album to come out. I can almost taste it.lol. as for wade, the sick freak is a liar. the world should know that he's a lair, but you know how the media is and how stupid some people can be.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I want this album to have a real chance. To me honestly it doesn't have to be number one but I would like people to know about it and give it a chance. I would love to hear something on the radio with the current songs of today. When it comes to Michael I don't trust the media at all.

When releasing an album people involved try to pick a right time. Look at Beyonce, the way she did it right now was strategic and accomplished what she probably wanted.

I totally disagree here, there is a reason Wades allegations did not get much attention in the first place. If this was 4-5 years ago yesss news media would blast it like crazy.. After MJ's passing the news has been forced to be a bit more pro Michael due to the sensitivity of everything surrounding the fact he is not here.. Wades news will NOT get large attention, it will be mentioned for sure!! But its not going to be a drawn out daily fallow like previous allegations.. I will bet on that!!

Mentioning's will happen, that's a given - but it takes more than mentioning's to stop something like this. They (media) cannot and will not push the negativity so largely because they do what sells, and right now the negativity does not sell as well as jumping on the legacy bandwagon.. They call him "Pop icon", "King of Pop", "Legend" - these are terms they stopped using publically for yearsssss.. The tide changed, there will still be dips and turns, but its moving..
