The Estate of Michael Jackson enters partnership with Sony Mobile

song's by Michael that are released should be for the ages, song's of today are forgotten about, regularly a week after release.

there is no artist the last 5years where you can say "oh this song will last forever", nothing "classic" like billie jean, bad, black&white ie.
michaels vince album was forgotten too, maybe its cause of the different time or the societies different "taste"? i cant tell.

i wouldnt be so negative about the new songs, i hope we get to hear the demos and timbaland is indeed close to them.

fine, i'll wait for the announcement.. but if it doesn't include the demo's then i simply will not be buying anything. i plan on expanding my michael collection with official/sealed/mint memorabilia released by Michael anyways.

I actually wouldn't mind if Timbo's versions weren't close to the demos, as long as they're good! So if they release the demos, it would be like getting two albums worth of material.

This is a great commercial move!
I don't understand why some of you will keep on whining no matter what comes out!
Nobody asked you to buy a Sony mobile so calm down and for once in your life ENJOY a commercial attempt with Michael's music!
Geez!!!!

I can't believe there are people who actually like this. It's "elevator music", as someone on Twitter said. So far from what MJ did that his voice sounds out of place. Maybe it's ok for a commercial, but at this point I just want to hear the song that Michael recorded. We've heard 3 surrogate versions by now, just give us the real deal already...

Which 3 versions do we have? (I know Tricky's and Timbaland's)

The reason many of us are insisting on having the original versions as Michael left them the last time is because we want his vision, not someone else's. I've never liked any of those remixes he was subjected to do, (if I remember correctly, he wanted BOTDF released as EP) even less remixes he can't approve anymore. I bet I'm not alone on this one. It's true we can't judge the whole album based on an snipped but if we just get the retouched tracks, I won't buy it.

Now think about this. They're using a Michael Jackson song in a television advertisement that will be played on hundreds of television stations across the globe. They could have used any other artist, any other song that is hitting the charts right now, but they chose Michael. This is the best promotion you could ever dream of. So what's the problem here? I've seen so many fans consistently complain that Sony wasn't giving Michael's music the promotion it deserves, and now they offer an amazing idea that could very easily score Michael another hit, and you're complaining? Hell, Michael sold a Beatles song to be used in a Walkman avert in the late '80s/early '90s. I'm sure Beatles fans felt the same way as some of you do now.

Worth repeating.

My addition, all I can see is fans complaining this and that when there is a hint of possibility that they are not going to get their fav songs. What about Michael? It seems to me that what is best for Michael means next to nothing when it comes to what fans wants to themselves.

Maybe some fans have forgotten that last year Wade R accused Michael being pedophile, then there was AEG trial when all sort of drug use was brought up, so last year or so hasn't been great for his image. Despite of all the bad publicity, Sony chose Michael's music to their campaign.

But there are many fans on this board that are hypocrites. I won't call anyone out specifically because I don't want to get in trouble with the mods, but certain people have called for the release of Tricky's mix of Slave to the Rhythm, which is NOT Michael's vision at all. I can already tell from Timbaland's mix that he is much closer to the original recording. Just listen to the beat and the strings. THAT is classic Michael Jackson. Or at least as close as we'll get nowadays.

I will say that I acknowledge why some of you may not like this. And again, everyone has opinions. But this is the first true effort I've seen Sony put in to promoting a Michael Jackson release in five years, and the fact that you're complaining about it is utterly disgusting. I apologize, but certain people on here don't deserve anything if all they do is beg the Estate and excite the fans and then complain when something big happens.

THIS.

Sony has always been piss poor when it comes to promoting Michael's music, so I agree this is a good effort.

Michael never intended ad libs from other artists who weren't supposed to be there to be included on any of his recording's, especially his unreleased work. including other artists voice when it wasn't suppose to be there in the first place is distasteful.

You understand the meaning of "Demo" do you?

Meaning IT'S NOT finished!

MJ remixed his own unreleased songs sometimes several times till they made an album. If it's a demo it was not finished yet & he could have gone in any direction till it arrived on a future album.

MJ never released "Slave", so can you imagine he wasn't finished with it. Especially in '89 the la reid/babyface version wasn't to his liking, because if he would have been 100% satisfied he could have put in on either Dangerous or History. But it didn't arrive on Vince either...

Furthermore: LA Reid brought "Slave" to Timbaland, so he could work on it. So what's your problem? One of the original producers hands it to the man of his trust.

But i realize discussing with you is pointless, because you haven't got any real arguments. Your unfunded outbursts show a complete lack of maturity. The impression was already there from your unrealistic expectations regarding other themes, but today you proofed yourself.

thing is, these were Michael's choices. the demo of slave to the rhythm is how Michael wanted it obviously. with no other artists. written and co-composed by Kenneth Edmonds & L.A Reid.

So you're not okay with Timbaland putting barely audible ad libs over the song and being relatively closer to Michael's original recording (from what I can tell), yet you're okay with the Tricky Stewart mix, which I can promise you is absolutely nothing like what Michael left behind?

i'm not okay with either. i'm just stating which is better, the newly released version should be exactly like the original with polished instrumentals that are similar to the organisation & a demo also. like Freddie Mercury - Barcelona...

Shut the hell up Zakk.

This is suppose to be a good release, a surprise, a hint of awesome things to come and your bringing it down with negativity. Im sick an tired of all this crap about Michael's original vision. We will hear it sooner or later. For now there are other things to do and take care of. STTR was probably composed on a keyboard, with digital drums. Only 200+ hardcore fans on fourms want tracks in this kind of state.

For mass appeal songs must be completed and finished. ALWAYS THERE makes 100s of good points and I agree 100 and 10% with what he has posted. He is smart and thinking logically. LOGIC is key.
If you were the Estate would you please 200+ Forum Fans or The World?

We boycotted Michael and IT STILL has 2.5+ Million.
We Acceptted Bad25 and didn't even break half of what Michael did. Of course riding Michael's death wake helps...but this time lets suck up our balls. Be men and enjoy this release because god knows how many more of these we will have with Michael 6 feet under (figuratively, he is actually resting above surface I believe)

Freddie Mercury also said, "once im dead, I don't care what you do with my music...just don't make me boring"

So let me ask, how do you know that Timbaland's isn't like the original demo? You don't. I don't. None of us do. As far as we know, this COULD be the original mix, just embellished here and there. Slamming it and calling it "against Michael's vision" isn't justifiable when we haven't heard the original version (i.e., Hollywood Tonight).

Difference there is that when those songs were recorded Michael was alive and he approved of them

Michael also allowed the release of Carousel, Got The Hots & For all time. 3 brand new song's that were left unedited from the original sessions. at least when Michael was here, he didn't let people deface his music with there cheap productions on what they think is art.

Carousel was released in 2001 on Special Edition. Got The Hots was released only in Japan. So globally it was only 1 unreleased song.

Timbaland production is not cheap.

We Be Ballin' wouldn't make a dent. If Sony really wants a CHART HIT, they need to release a modernized song. Not Tricky Stewart modern, Timbaland modern.

One thing everyone needs to remember is that no matter how many new albums we get now they will never be as good as the albums that MJ made when he was still alive. The albums could be good. Really good but if you're expecting something like Dangerous album standards then you're gonna be disappointed.
