I don't know what are they doing! They also need to hire someone to delete leaked songs from youtube!

I hope the official VEVO will have a MAJOR make-over when the first single is released! - Maybe the music video will then replace the BAD25 commercial!!

But it should have been changed already the day they announced Xscpae IMO! - But I just hope they update VEVO - and any official MJ site soon !!!

Eh.. I guess I'm one of the only ones against this. I just feel it's wrong... Put it this way, if Michael had wanted these songs to be released, he would've a long time ago. I'm not going to buy any.. well, I'm going to try not to.. it's so tempting!!! And that's another thing, are they going to have these sh*tty colabs with Akon etc.. included in this one?! I just.. I'm torn. I really want another Michael CD and then I just feel as if it's going against what he would've wanted...

They have to make an ALL NEW webpage dedicated to Xscape - and make it possible to pre-order.

In the MJ Store you can't even buy/pre-order the album yet.

for me it's available at MJ Store and I know people who have ordered from MJ.com

I forget offhand, but wasn't William Orbit involved? Or is he doing the Freddie Mercury/Jackson track(s)? And those will appear in a future Freddie/Queen release?

We have not heard confirmation on where MJ.com sales are tracked. It would be preferable to use Itunes or Amazon until then.

That is beautiful and is very similar to the Prince one. Those are not Michael's lips on the Xscape cover.

I'm in Canada and can't order it earlier. Oh well. I'll order it elsewhere anyway. I don't trust Sony with pre-orders since they screwed up my pre-order for the This Is It CD/Poster set and 4 Vinyl set.

that's sony/mj estate, they have been this way since 2009. I once tried to order bad25 box from the website and had trouble going through the process that i gave up buying that stuff. Good it helps me save money.

You do have a phenomenal point. I'm working on an article of this as we speak, approaching whether or not Michael would have approved of this release. Of course this shouldn't stint your enjoyment of it, but it is true that nothing on this album represents anything Michael would have done.

You say had Michael wanted to release these songs he would have done so a long time ago, but that does not work like that. Often he shelved songs not because he did not want them to get released but because they did not fit on a certain album or he wanted to work on them some more. What you say can easily be reversed: had he NOT wanted any of his unreleased songs get released after his death he would have stated that in his Will. He was not stupid. He knew how things worked in showbiz. He saw all the posthumus releases with artists such as John Lennon, Elvis, Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix etc. If he was against it in his case he would have stated so in his Will IMO.

That's a different project, yes. Presumably those songs will get released by Queen.

I feel the question would Michael have appoved all the releases since 2009 has been gone over many, many times. IMO there is a strong argument against remixes of his work. However the demos have become historical documents in the same way sketchbooks are for famous painters. The world of popular music should study his genius and learn from it.

Biggies rap was just sampled. Sampling isn't an unusual method in music business.

No, it's not sampling. He took full verses from the original. Also he used Rod Serling's voice on Threatened. He edited and reconstructed his sentences to fit the song. I love Threatened to pieces and I think the use of Ros Serling's voice as a rap is genius, but how do we know Rod would have been OK with that? We just don't.

People can say Michael would want this or would want that, but the truth is we do not know what he would want we can only project our own thoughts on him.

I think the Estate/Sony should start promoting it already via social media. Or is it too soon?

It is certainly not too soon.
Social Media is (one of) the most important instrument to promote the album. Especially because the younger generation is active there 24/7.
They really need to upgrade MJ.com. ATM i can only see a link to pre order on i-tunes. thats not enough. People will first check out a webpage when they want to inform about it.
The album should also be available on Facebook. Many firms make it happen that u can purchase products directly via FB. < Also possible for a musician of course.
Generally, they need more promotion. Something innovative. But the latter is not so easy of course.

I remember when fans were asked to post pictures of themselves which were used for a huge Michael portrait. Although i dont remember when it was and what it was used for. But i liked the idea. It mobilized people.

Theres a lot possible via Social Media
The only good thing is the Xscape teaser imo.


Edit: Is this MichaelJacksonVEVO channel on youtube an official one?? Its the first it pops up when u search for MJ. Obviously, they should remove all leaked songs that are on the new album.
If its not official (what i doubt somehow) they need to invent one :S I can not believe that there is no MJ youtube channel Maybe Im too stupid to find it

I was thinking various way how to promote this album and I was thinking that would it be cool if they have 3D image of the album cover projected to the sky (evening time)?

Seeing something like this in the sky would definitely make stir

Of course its promotion via social media. but if i can see it correctly its simply a shared post. this will be seen in peoples newsfeed for one day.

so far i personally did not come across any kind of promotion, except this teaser.

Out of home advertising would also be helpful. posters on train stations or parking lots of supermarkets.

About ordering the album from the mj.com store - has it been confirmed that those sales count towards the official album charts? When Bad25 came out there was some uncertainty over whether the sales from mj.com were reported to Soundscan/OCC. IIRC, it was the same thing with Thriller25, some people thought that mj.com doesn’t report the sales to chart compilers.

If it’s true that mj.com doesn’t report the sales, and lots of fans order their copy from the mj.com store, it means that the album will have a lower chart peak and lower sales numbers than it would have if people bought their copies from some other store. Unless it’s confirmed that mj.com will report Xscape sales to official album charts, why not buy your copy from somewhere else? I think it’s a shame if the album looks less successful than it actually is.
