Talking about Thriller. A friend of mine told me yesterday: "I heard that song from MJ 'Springeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!' Springerrrr niiight!'".

WTF?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

It amuses me how angry fans get that Love Never Felt So Good is the lead single when (a) it hasn't been confirmed by Sony/the estate, or (b) we haven't heard any part of the reproduced version.

Don't take the word of those who were in listening sessions; Sony doesn't tell them as much as you may think they do. After all, two people testified that Chicago and She Was Loving Me were separate songs, when they're really one and the same. Let's wait for an announcement before we start complaining.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I love the song Xscape. It is better than I thought it would be. Even though I am happy, a part of me is still sad, hurt, and I feel like crying because I miss MJ so much.

That's clearly the Italian version

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I think they should try to release as many singles as they can, just like Bad (where almost every song was a single). This will be my list from all the leaks (if it all goes well with the releases of singles):

1. Slave the the Rhythm (It should be the most heard track in the album since it was used for the Xperia Z2 commercial)
2. Xscape (Title track, and it can be released along with the album)
3. Blue Gangsta (The leak sounds very good for a first-time listener)
4. A Place With No Name (The leak sounds nice, but it took me a few listens before I actually loved it)
5. Do You Know Where Your Children Are (Controversy might spread resulting in a bad image for the album, but it's an amazing song)
6. Love Never Felt So Good (Weakest leak of all, so it might not gain that much attention)

I wish that the other 2 songs will sound amazing and could be killer singles. I did not add them to my list because I have not heard them, hence I cannot judge them.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

YAWN.. sony and the estate aren't building any hype and doing anything in between the day of announcement and release date, are they?
living singers announce the album release so they can build up hype and generate some interest during the period leading up to the day of album release. For MJ, there is no tracklist, no singles. If they aren't going to do anything, they might as well don't make the announcement at all.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

The "leaked" Xscape track is everywhere right now. People think it's the new version. Such a shame Sony doesn't release the single ASAP with a bunch of killer remixes.

The first single needs to hit really hard and fast for the album to be relevant.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I'm going to assume most of you guys never listened to a lick of top 40 radio over the last 2 years?

Because 'Love Never Felt So Good' seems like an excellent choice. Look at the number one single in America right now, hell, look at the number 2 single in America. http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100.

Pharrell's 'Happy'. Strong melody, retro vibe. Its what people love at the moment. Best music trend in years. John Legend's 'All of Me' is a sultry piano ballad. Sony studied those charts and the current vibes people are leaning towards. Michael will fit right in.

Pharrell benefited from Despicable Me 2 success. Also he has huge promotion with 24 hours Happy video. LNFSG will fail on that chart. Music style is not important, the quality of the song is. The first single should be the best song, no matter what style.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

The first single should be uptempo, but what does a fan know. The suits know it best ;-)

It's the song from the 1983 (Thriller era). It's obvious. Why not Dangerous (DYKWYCA or Slave) or Vince (Chicago, Blue Gangsta, APWNN, Xscape) song? Because Thriller is in their opinion good Michael Jackson.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I hope sony don't release STTR as a single since it's now a music for sony mobile advert and it's been made to sound like a poor advert song. LNFSG is going to sound like another TII average at best and will not do well on charts, guarantee. Xscape/DYKwyca looks like the best choice of songs to release as single.

When I see some people whining over everything I hope they don't release the album at all.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

They should release two singles practically at the same time, which are different in style imo.

Like STTR + Xscape (or Chicago?), or an uptempo track+ a ballad.

To not release STTR along with the commercial would be stupid from a commercial point of view (unless they want people to buy the album and the track isn't available separately)

Then mid of summer "Hot fun", in autumn midtempo song like PWNN, a ballad in winter

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

How about releasing 8 singles at the same time with 8 different animated 3-D holographic videos, a video game Xscape on Playstation 4 and a trilogy 3-D movie alongside with a tribute promotional concert with hollographic MJ singing 30 never heard before tracks?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

You act like there is something to hide in those lyrics.

Exactly my point. The lyrics are pretty understandable and easy to hear to the average listener. And none of the lyrics in the song are incriminating to Michael nor do they have much to do with what he went through in life, other than the theme of child abuse.

It just makes no sense to me that some people are like "oh I hope the Estate doesnt push this song too strongly, because of what the media will say.."

The album was announced 6 weeks ahead of its release date and 1,5 of those 6 weeks have passed now, so that *of course* has to mean they're doing "nothing" to promote the album until it is released.

I'm sure that I am not the only one who is getting tired of your constant negativity -- can't you take it somewhere else? Start a blog or a Facebook group or something, where you complain about Sony, the estate and how badly they're mismanaging MJ's legacy?

It is too early for tracklist. There is more than a month to go. I agree they should have released 1st single already.

It's not that they aren't doing anything - listening parties in London, Paris, Germany and New York. That is good promo.

It's been made to sound like awesomeness! Timbaland did an amazing job. Too bad you can't hear that. I hope it will be the first single with music video/commercial. First you complain that there is no promo and now you complain that they ARE promoting the new album with the phone?? Decide on which side you are? You contradict yourself. Sound like a troll to me.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I think everybody (including me) is just "concerned" if they are doing the right choices and don't screw it up, because as a fan I want this to be successful.

a recent positive marketing example: Katy Perry Teenage dream album. (I am not comparing her to MJ in any way, just from a marketing standpoint).
They made this album successful largely by choosing the right order in which they released the singles imo, and they really DID milk it. Half of the singles weren't even "single material" imo.

I praised them for everything they did on this project. But allowing the leaks on youtube and douchebag internet pages is just idiotic.

They're trying really hard to get them offline.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Sometimes some reworked/alternative versions sound better than what we get on the album. Of course, what sounds better or less good is subjective. But I can't stop thinking of the alternative/remix version of "You Are Not Alone" (R. Kelly Remix). To me it sounds better than the album version on History.

So, I am not really worried about the reworked versions of Xscape. Let's trust them. And the positive thing anyway is that the DELUXE version will contain the original recordings, which indicates that they are trying to please everyone (which doesn't seem to be an easy task when I see negativity from some fans).

Here's the R.Kelly Remix of You Are Not Alone that I fnd better than what we have on the album. What do you think guys?

yeap that was a top notch remix

Bullcrap. Upload Water or Ready 2 Win or any other C. track and I'll hold the breath. Let's see who can last longer, me holding the breath or that song on youtube. That is a FACT.

It was Jab Me Music that took them down, if I'm correct.

I know. But if Jab Me Music can do it that fast, Sony can do it to.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I just wanna say hello to you all. I'm from Germany (so sorry for my bad english :D) and new in this forum.

My favourite MJ album is dangerous, because it just sounds new still today and i'm one of the younger fans. In my opinion every MJ album has its own sound and I'm very happy that Xscape will be more contemporary. All leaks i've heard sounds great and i'm looking forward what Timbaland and the other producers did with them.

Sony try to remove all the leaks, but it's just impossible. So many fans have allready downloaded them and will load them up again. And i don't think the leaks we have for years are bad for the release in any way.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Overview:

(1) In any sense, I'm excited for Love Never Felt So Good. Yes, the demo isn't the greatest, but Michael's vocals are top notch and reviews have praised it. Let's give it a chance.

(2) The only agreement Paul Anka made with the estate is to receive fifty percent of royalties for This Is It, which he is entitled to given that he cowrote it. There was no agreement that any more of his songs would be released in any format; they are being released solely because McClain/Branca like them. It's silly that anyone thinks otherwise.

(3) Paul Anka had a right to say what he said about This Is It. If Michael screwed up, I would expect someone to admit it rather than sugarcoat it and act like he was perfect, as most people tend to do.

(3) Everyone just stop responding to bad25. I don't mean to personally attack anyone but he's only entering this thread to complain. Being negative and having a negative opinion is fine, but when it's the basis of every post you make, it's annoying. I never see you post in any other thread to be honest; just this one. And we're getting fed up with it.

I know. But if Jab Me Music can do it that fast, Sony can do it to.

But to be fair, Jab Me Music is a much, much, much smaller division than Sony is. Sony has hundreds of artists; they surely can't handle everything at once.
