Love Never Felt So Good - share your thoughts

Both versions are nice. The solo version is not mastered very well at all though unfortunately. Very distorted. Hard to believe they let it be released like that. Hopefully everything isn't clipping on the album versions. I like hearing the 2nd verse on it though which isn't in the duet version because Michael adds some extra little vocal inflections in there. JT does a decent job. Little weird to have him just thrown on the song though. Both versions have hit potential. Can't quite get over the mastering of the solo version though.

Finaly, after hearing both versions I can add my piece of apple to this discussion :D The solo version fits much more the 80's style. It has "the vibe" and soul of OTW/Thriller era :) Though, I don't really like the BJ beat in it... same thing as with the HT music video version. And ofc, as many of you pointed out, the distortion of the track makes me ask "Are you f****** kidding me?!" Anyway, I like it mainly because of the MJ's vocals and earlier mentioned soul.

And what about the duet with JT? To me, it sounds much more modern and Timbalalns' hand is very easily hearable :) I like the way MJ's and JT's voices fits together and creates something that sound really nice. Many of you don't like WDAN and DSTYGE sampling in the song, while I think it makes it sound even more MJish :D Plus, they're not that well hearable if you don't carefully listen to the song :)

This first single gives me a great hope that the album will be something that we're waiting for. With many more great tracks to come and demos! As for now I'm excited as hell and pre-ordering the deluxe version!

Can't wait till May 13th folks!

Love Never felt so good is also getting a lot of airplay here everywhere in Curacao, (Dutch Antilles)

I really prefer the "simpler" approach in the solo version of this track, just feels more fitting to the material somehow. And I can't stand the deadpan "move your body" comments in the duet. I hope the rest of the album won't have any stuff like that (I seem to recall Timbaland featuring himself in many songs he produce). JT doesn't do a terrible performance, and while it's nice MJ still gets a lot of spotlight, I feel that JT just doesn't add anything to the track. While I think Hold My Hand featured too much of Akon vs MJ, on that track I at least felt like Akon sorta added another dimension to the song.

That said, it's a bit of a shame what others have said, that the mastering of the solo version is so loud. It makes it slightly hard to listen to in my opinion. It's just such a good song otherwise, it's a bit of a shame.

But yeah, it's definitely a strong showing for the rest of the album. Just hope there won't be clipping all over the place. :)

Glad to see it doing so well also!

Agree about the mastering. Finally got to listen with headphones and the solo version is awful. Distorts, heavy bass - something isn't right there.

Love, LOVE this song. BOTH versions. I have no problem with the "duet" with Timberlake. It lends to the FACT that this will get more airplay. The airplay will be added together. It doesn't matter WHICH ONE is played. If this helps get the single to number 1, I don't care if the MJ/JT mix is played. I have heard the MJ solo version played on stations and people seem to love it. Let's not forget that it was the SOLO version that was premiered on the iHeart radio awards show. Usher and the other dancers did an AMAZING job with the tribute and that was with the SOLO version of the song.

I really don't want to hear the negative crap that some fans are starting to do. The promotion for this single AND album is TOP NOTCH and the media reactions are the MOST positive that I have heard in a LONG TIME for Michael and it is refreshing. I just want it to continue and and I am not going to let anyone dampen my enthusiasm for this single OR the album. I am looking forward to the release and can't wait to BUY and HEAR it!!

I just heard the song on Danish radio. - They really liked it!!

AND - it is still #1 on Danish iTunes !!!

i finaly heard both in full. the jt remix is the way to go. the problems in the solo version are painful to listen.
the jt remix should be official single and we will have the first postum #1. not just because of justin, timbaland did great with this.

Agree, love the song but the production once again isn't up to MJs standards. Tim did a much better job and I think Justin's vocals are spot on.

No feeling the solo much I have to say. Way too many errors and that mastering is terrible! A song like that should not be distorting. MJ wanted things loud! Haha

Did you guys noticed that the solo version of LNFSG was deleted from youtube? Now only the version with Justin Timberlake is still available to watch on Michael Jackson's VEVO channel.

I don't think it's deleted--you have to put the word 'solo' in the search bar. 'solo version' --it's hard to find but it's there, at least it was last time I checked, but it had only 600-700 views b/c you search MJ LNFSG and if you don't put 'solo' in there, you will go to JT duet.

Just checked--It's there--with 8k views vs. 500k views for the duet.

edit: whoops--the one I thought was Vevo wasn't Vevo!! I think it's up now with the real Vevo. OMG.

Other than the hissing in during Michael's vocals in the LA Reid mix, I don't know what these other "mastering" blunders are. Even with the issues, I prefer this one to Timbaland's mix. After listening over and over again, they're both good, but Justin's verse seems flat in comparison to Michael's, it throws the song off a bit. And they could've done without the excessive sampling in both mixes.

I love this song  It's been getting a lot of airplay here in The Netherlands.

I don't like the "let me see you dance" part though. Adds nothing to the song.

Just in case anyone missed this earlier on in the thread (I think it was this one I posted it in...), I put this together yesterday and thought I'd share it with you all:

Hope you like it. :)

I love the solo version, but I'll admit, listening again, I do hear quite a bit of problems with the mastering. There's quite a bit of treble over the piano/vocal track; right as Michael says "love" during the very opening line, his vocals cut out briefly, as if the track skipped during production; and the claps in the second verse are majorly off. Of course I can say that the transitions between the complete stops and the continuation of the music sounds a bit odd but, given the fact that there probably aren't any multi tracks available, they did a fine job.

I have come to absolutely love that orchestral bridge section; it sounds like something Michael would sit and smile and throw his arms up in the air during. Very bittersweet, and absolutely gorgeous.

It's 50/50 for me. Each version of the song is set for different moods; I listen to the solo version when I'm in a calmer mood, the duet when I want to dance. Whatever the case though, these songs were completed beautifully.

While I love Justin, I now wish more that Usher would have been on this. I think he would have fit better.
But of course, Timbaland was involved so the connection was obvious to do.

Not that JT isn't bad on it, but Usher would have been ace.
Hopefully in the future, they put him on a track with him as well.

After having a few days to really dig into both versions of the song it's 50/50 for me too, I think. I like how prominent the piano is in the McClain version, and also like the guitar riffs during the chorus and love the instrumental bridge, but I feel the bass and especially the percussion leaves a lot to be desired in terms of mastering and bring the overall quality of the production down.

The production on the JT version is a lot cleaner, with a strong bass-line and strings and much crisper percussion / snare, but I'm not a big fan of the bridge and in particular the Workin'... sampling, and kind of miss the prominent piano and guitar riffs. What happens after the bridge though, is much stronger than what McClain did IMO, especially the transition into the final chorus at 3:16.

So yeah, maybe not so 50/50 after all -- I guess I'm leaning towards the JT version, mainly due to the "muddy" sound of the production on the McClain version.

The Billboard article has me wondering though... If Reid and his team had this rule where they'd only use songs that had completed vocals *and* of which the vocals were recorded multiple times by MJ, then why did LNFSG make the cut in the first place? I don't mind having these versions and it's a great song (I love the demo) but clearly having only the one demo -- which doesn't have a bridge -- with vocals, piano, claps and finger snaps all on one track was a bit of a handicap here. Again, I'm happy with these versions and I'm very glad to see how well the song is doing, but it's maybe not the best representation of MJ's capabilities and what he left behind in terms of unreleased work? Did Reid & Co. just love the song so much that they simply *had* to include it, or did McClain push for it because it was kind of his baby? It's just a bit puzzling to me... I can't wait for the rest of the album though -- I think minds are gonna be blown when STTR, BG, APWNN, DYKWYCA and XSCAPE hit the airwaves :D

Was just thinking, actually: has anyone in the UK noticed ANY promotion for this song OR the album yet? Because if I wasn't a hardcore fan I don't imagine actually knowing about any of this. I've seen so many pictures, etc. of promo elsewhere in Europe and in the US, but I've not heard or seen anything in person. :/

It's a good song, but far from being a masterpiece. I prefer the JT version, despite of not being a fan of him. It sounds cleaner.

Does anyone know if/when this is going to be available on Spotify UK? It's annoying not being able to listen to it when I want.

I'm very late to this topic! But wanted to share my thoughts too!

I love the solo version much more than the remix mostly because of the guitar during the chorus and the drums. The orchestral bridge is a fantastic addition because when the vocals re-start, it makes them all the more effective. I do like the Justin one too though as it's more modern and percussion heavy.

Ok so it's not the most perfect song, but I know one thing: When I listen to it I feel happy. Michael's voice is so infectious it's hard not to smile. It's great that such an old demo that no one really cared for has been given such a new feel to it.

The other tracks on the album are undoubtedly more stylish, edgy, vocally, musically and melodically superior, but I think LNFSG definitely deserves its place on Xscape, simply because it's NOT all these things. It's simplicity is what makes it brilliant.

This song always on my mind even when i sleep i hear in my head " baby love never felt so good ...

I know some brows will be raised but I believe Justins background vocals on the chorus meshed perfectly together with MJ's. I'm a big fan of Timbos version.

I think both versions are very good. :) But I listen to Michael's music with my heart and so im very drawn to Michael solo version. It really speaks to me
