just heard do you know... and

deary me. its a shame these producers didnt try to update these songs with an mj feel rather than trying to make them sound like the flavour of the month which will be outdated in two minutes. seems all they cared about was trying to put mjs vocals to their music rather than trying to do what mj would do.and try to recreate his style. just shows how great mj is. still havnt heard xscape but so far other than love.. and loving. the album is a big disapointment. nothing touches the previous leaks/demos that we have had over the years.just a bunch of sub standard remixes.that shows why i love mj so much and dont like the supposed big producers of the day

Just some info on the poster - Its doesn't come in the Deluxe plastic jewel case because it won't fit.
It is offered in the Deluxe digi soft pack ..

Just some info on the poster - Its doesn't come in the Deluxe plastic jewel case because it won't fit.
It is offered in the Deluxe digi soft pack ..

That is such a f**king awesome photo I hope we get a high-res digital copy of it soon!

I'm glad they didn't really try to recreate an old style though. Michael's style changed every single album - no two albums ever sounded the same. Xscape is no different

I'm glad they didn't really try to recreate an old style though. Michael's style changed every single album - no two albums ever sounded the same. Xscape is no different

And Michael was heading in this direction, anyway. If you followed what he was doing in 2007 and 2008.

I agree they can't all compare to MJs own work. But what they were suppose to do was use MJ's vocals with their own creative efforts and style. Not try to copy what MJ had already done. They are not MJ and MJ is not here to tell them. Fans need to understand what this album is and what It isn't .The producers were to give a nod a tribute to his songs and contemporise them with their own creative juices and their OWN style, keeping the integrity of what MJ might have done today if he was working with them. but not copy or be MJ. That's impossible. They were not arrogant in saying this is what he would have wanted either... LA Reid stated No one knows what Michael would want done with his songs today but they only hoped he would be happy with their effort. .. He feels he would .

The demos were not meant to be replace by these new songs either. They are their as well in all their glory for the world to hear. If fans would quite trying to compare the new songs to what MJ would have done or MJ did it better and just appreciate the songs for what they are. Im sure they would enjoy this album a lot better. IMO Just celebrate the music, play your own favorite tracks and be happy that Michael is being celebrated and hyped all over the world because of the effort of these producers.

Whether you like all the songs or not doesn't matter. The ones you don't like someone else will (right in this forum) and be very happy because of Michael's music. Opinions differ. _ But What is happening right now all over the world for Michael is EPIC and may never happen again anytime soon. so please don't anyone miss out on enjoying it to the fullest. :wub:

Just got the cd in the mail, and was happy to see that I got the cardboard/softcase version with the poster. The place I ordered from obviously did not know there was 2 different deluxe versions. I love cardboard/softcase because it is not smashed to pieces when you receive it in the mail!
Off to lisen !!

I've been in a really good mood about this album and honouring MJ's legacy but... I can't help it, this is my personal opinion; most of the modern mixes for these songs I cannot enjoy at all. In fact, some of them completely mutilate the song. What happened to DYKWYCA? It's awful. It has no rhythm at all. The music clashes with the groove of the vocals. Why did they dilute the chorus of Slave and Blue Gangster so much? Why did they take the weight and punch out of Xscape?

For me, the album peaked at Loving You. I look forward to hearing the original versions on the deluxe edition far more than the new songs...

Regardless of that, I am very happy this album is receiving good reviews and reception from fans and critics alike. It makes me proud of Michael. I just feel most of the modern mixes are badly executed.

I'm happy to have the demos!!!! I like them much more than the remixes.

I am deeply disappointed what they have done to DYKWYCA.

As a hardcore fan of Michael's original creations, nothing will ever top the demo's for me.. especially Slave, Chicago, Do You Know & Loving You! they're purely sensational and gorgeous :heart: but, as with any projects.. i have an open mind. I have been enjoying these new updated versions a lot, especially Loving you! Darkchild worked wonders with Xscape also.. overall, the album get's a 9.9/10 from me. *joking, it's 10/10

In my opinion original versions are just great, I'm feeling my heartbeat when I'm listening to them.

1. LNFSG - original version and new one are superb (10/10 both);
2. Chicago - original version is so mysterious and hipnotizing, just wow! I love it! (10/10); new one is ok (7/10);
3. Loving You - I prefer the original piece (8/10 - 7/10);
4. APWNN - the song is simply brilliant (10/10), but the Stargate version is good enough (8/10);
5. STTR - thank you Michael! It's wonderful (original 10/10):chillin:. I can't get to used to the remix.
6. DYKWYCA - yeaaaah!:woohoo: I can't stop dancing:th_rogerfriedman:, I'm feeling it (10/10); of course the version from 2010(?) is cool too:yes:, however I can't get to used to the remix.
7. Blue Gangsta - old one 10/10, but I can't get to used to the remix.
8. Xscape - both are good, but the original version is better (9/10 - 7.5/10).

The whole Album is GREATNESS!

I especially like the more daring, more experimental & cutting edge tracks.
What Stargate did with 'Place' i'm lost for words - that's how great it is. They made this track so much more interesting, i never thought 'Place could become such a deep & interesting song, because the OG is almost as simple as LNFSG demo (IMHO).
And the job Timbo 'Da Badman' did on the whole album is really monumental.
Though i understand why some will enjoy OG 'Children' & 'Gangsta' more, i LOVE what he did.
This Michael Jackson 2014.
MJ was always about being ahead of time, speaking to the youth & have a current sound. That what these producers gave him. I really believe he would have liked what they all did.


Dangerous - sounded NOTHING like his past records.
HIStory - was completely different from Dangerous (I remember hearing 'Scream' the 1st time. And i was like "This is what he is doing NOW? Crazy. Crazy good. F***** this is the new sh*t!"
Invincible - Once again completely different to everything he did before.

Do some here really believe he would sound anything like he sounded earlier in his career?
(Or do you belong to those who started already screaming with the release of Dangerous, that he isn't himself anymore? Those voices grew louder with every new album i remember it exactly. Many fans never wanted MJ to change. And with Invincible it culminated. I believe thats one (i repeat ONE) reason why we never got a new album while he was still here. Some are just NEVER satisfied!)

Once again, try to open your mind. As we always had to open our mind with every new MJ album.
MJ always opened my ears to different music, to enjoy every genre & every style.
This is what's happening with this album. It's current - yet classy, stylish, full of pure art & heritage. It's worthy of THE KING's NEW 2014 album.

Please take into account that some of us who don't enjoy some of the new songs aren't doing so because 'our minds aren't open' or we're against the new album and other reasons. I like the new album idea, I like how they're treating Michael... I just don't like some of the new songs. In the way they sound, the way they feel. I gave them an honest chance and some of them just don't do it for me. I have no motive or bias - I just don't really like 'em. I don't appreciate reading posts that tell me I'm not opening my mind enough, it's very open, thank you.

I think Timbaland did a fantastic job on DYKWYCA... sounds brilliant to me. Also really love the new versons of Chicago and A Place With No Name. But I think the newer versions of Blue Gangsta and Xscape detract too much from the originals.

Am very disappointed by Rodney's new version of Xscape. The verses work really well and give the song a darker edge and I particularly like the fact that you can fully hear how low and guttural MJ's voice is on this version... but then the chorus comes in and he ruins it. And the middle eight section is no way near as powerful as the original version... big fail from Darkchild on this one IMO.

I think I prefer the newer mix of Chicago, but I do really love the demo as well. I was actually surprised by how different they were. I think I prefer Timbalands mix just because it sounds more like a finished song.... the original sounds very much like a demo.

I also like how he's turned up the "she was lovin' me" parts... they're too buried in the mix on the demo.

Michael was too much focused on Teddies stuff. Same with Rodney on Invincible. SWLM (original) could have been the "who is it" of Invincible.

What I love so much about the way this album was handled is that there is something for everyone on it, so much to choose from. Original, raw versions, and new fresh productions. You can go back and forth depending on your mood or whatever you're feeling that day.

Great promotion and you can just tell they are trying to make the fans happy as well as covering their bases with the general public. It's a win-win.

What really more can you ask for? It's a bangin' album, that's for sure

Original versions of MICHAEL!!! I need'em immediately!

Just heard Blue Gangsta on a danish radio station - they said BG was one of the best songs from the album... (I actually like the song more and more!)

How are the lyrics in the booklet? - are they correct or are they a mess? :lol:

even if the demos are very raw (e.g. Loving You or Don't Be Messin' 'Round) one can easily hear out the (final) direction of each song. I really would like to hear the original demo of Best Of Joy.
