Xscape General Discussion

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

PPL are embracing this album, it is HUGE. Just because you have a handful of fans that can't see the big picture of how great this is, doesn't mean this is not a huge critical success.

Can't you make your point without the condescending tone towards fellow fans?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Gosh, the documentary was too short,
And there wasn't any studio footage (of Michael)

BTW the Matt Forger-Interview wasn't present in the Documentary. Maybe it's in the
XSCAPE-TV Special.

Uhm....what Xscape Special are you talking about?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

If you do not contemporize them then Michael's legacy will not pass on to new generations. This is the best way to keep Michael alive to future generations.

I loved BAD25 demos, but frankly they were dated, and I wished they had contemporized them too.

And the way they presented this project there is something for everyone, and a big bonus, it will have Michael upfront and center again around the GLOBE!!

They did a crap remix of BAD on BAD 25, but a hellova awesome remix if Speed Demon (nero remix). It is true that they could have contemporize Al Capone, Abortion Papers, ... because MJ's voice is quite powerful on those demos, and also leave the demos as they did.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Yes. Before tha he said "after awhile,... the first 3 songs i heard original, i said this going to trow/turn/torn (***can't make it out, what exactly he is saying****) me off. so just play the acappelas"

Idk it's something about timbaland, he says he's not cocky and all but yet he still has that IDGAF look throughout the doco. Oh well he still did a great job with Loving you, Chicago and LNFSG :)

I don't wanna complain but please, please can anybody give me a valid reason why they didn't show any footage of MJ in the studio? They have over 100 of hours of footage they could have inducted, show a video of him eat an apple for all i care but comeon! the dvd was unnecessary imo.

Here is an interview that Stargate's Tor Erik Hermansen did with the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten:
"It has always been a dream for us to work with Michael. He is one of our very greatest musical rolemodels. Mikkel and I were 11 years old when Thriller came out and it made an indelible impression. When we met Michael, we came much closer to realizing that dream, but when he died we figured that it was never going to happen. Therefore, it means a lot that we finally got the opportunity. And we think that Michael would have been satisfied.

It is a little special to make music with someone who isn't here to approve the end-result. Therefore,we were extra respectful when we made creative decisions. The legacy after Michael is timeless, soulful pop songs that are at the same time contemporary songs. We are first and foremost fans and tried to make something that we want to hear ourself. This is something we have done with the heart. We are proud of the song and we think that Michael would have felt the same way.

Michael has a universal appeal. I have myself two children at 4 and 8 who have played the song we have produced ten times each day the last month.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

And that is why we have the demos.

I always said that the demos have more historical/artistical value. But as long as we are getting them I do not mind new remixes even if they will probably get outdated in a couple of years (like the remixes on Thriller 25). It would be different if we didn't get the demos, but this way I'm OK.

People should accept this project for what it is. It's not a new MJ studio album. There will never be a new MJ studio album again.
I'm aware that there won't be any other new MJ album. I don't like the remixes on T25 & BAD25, but I have no problem with them as they're labled correctly as REMIXES. Why don't the Estate and/or L.A. Reid call the child by its actual name? The 2014 versions are simply remixes.

Why not re-releasing MJs albums from OTW to Invincible "contemporized" by the same team that had worked on Xscape?

It's been communicated properly what these mixes are whether you call them remixes or "contemporized" versions - it's just semantics. The demos are also included, so people can check out how they differ from MJ's version. I don't know what more you want.

Because those albums are NOT demos, they are finished songs, finished albums, with chart history. They are uncomparable to the unreleased demos.

NO!! You cannot improve in perfection imo. That would be horrible. That would be disrespecting Michael's work. That would surely cause a riot in the fan base worst than MICHAEL project.

The best thing to do is what they are doing now. I know millions of fans want to listen to the unheard of songs Michael worked on. But why not contemporize them to help him with the new generations? and still keep the demos. They did the perfect project. You don't like the new mixes, then listen to the demos.

who said that all left behind songs e.g. xscape, Much Too Soon are demos?

Beside of that those new created / "contemporized" are IMO not representing MJs innovation as you've stated in your earlier posting. Just take a look onto some of MJs later released tracks.

E.g. BOTDF / Superfly Sister / For All Time, all were recorded during the Dangerous sessions. He did NOT recreated those songs in 1997/2007. He just did some overdubs and mixing. IMHO at least a few songs on MICHAEL & XSCAPE could have been treated the same way.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

xscape new mix @1:39min....
damn, MIKE SOUNDS BADASS.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I don't understand how people don't like the new Xscape mix. To me it sounds like the best improved, I never really liked the demo much. It sounds fresh and still very Michael. It's just full of energy, waaaaay beter.

I also think Blue Gangsta sounds fantastic, and it's one of my favorite MJ songs so I had high expectations for it.

They might have not been all demos, but the point is they were unreleased, which means that before deciding to release them MJ had the opportunity to rework them, except that he died and has no more that opportunity.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

The mastering by Bernie Grundman captures the raw studio magic, the album is on another level with these sound productions. New mixes have pleasantly shocked me.. didn't expect them to sound so good! I keep saying this but it really is a masterpiece.

Lovin You = THRAD vocals ?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Do not know if already posted. The page on facebook Billboard Brazil confirmed the hologram of MJ for 18th. Hours after the post was deleted.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I just saw the xperia z2 ad on the t.v!!! :) mentions the album and shows the album cover

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

The remixes are proper album, the originals are a selection of random songs. I'm glad we have an album

I have to say I never warmed up to the Xscape demo. I truly did not understand how so many fans liked it. So I am looking forward to the new mix. I'm glad to hear good reviews on BG I just love that song. Can't wait for Tuesday. I haven't caved yet.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I am not happy with the reviews on amazon.de

just an average of 4/5 stars
Worse than Michael? (4,5) :busted:

EDIT: better reviews now :)

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Listening to the originals at the moment. The first 4 consist of some that are unlistenable again (LNFSG, loving you), dated(Chicago), copied(APWNN)

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

To be honest what makes this album so good is Michaels vocal's, and I wish we could just have acapella versions of all the tracks, that would make my day, they are just so good, especially STTR and BG.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Listening to STTR (original), best original version so far for me, would select it above the remix. Sounds dated.

That's why I like some of the remixes as the instrumention is sparse at times and MJ's vocals are dominating ( in a good way)

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Listening to the original version of DYKWYCA, it's on par with STTR. Sounds dated, at least the remix is different and a bit current.
