MJ and Queen world premiere!!!!!!!!!!!

According to information pertaining to the Victory album that I read, MJ's collaborations with Freddie on State Of Shock and Victory were intended for the album.

MJ wanted to put State Of Shock on it. That's it. But when they recorded it in the summer of 1983 it wasn't aimed specifically for a Jacksons project.

Actually the song and the mix are amazing. Again it's our own fault that we expected something else because we listened to the stolen leaked versions. Imagine if you were hearing this for the first time! You would all be crying! That's it for me for the leaks, I'll never ever listen to another stolen song!

No. For me, this isn't a case of having different expectations. By the time I heard about the unveiling, the radio show had already started so I barely had time to get hyped. I wasn't expecting what we've had for the past few years either. In fact I was pretty open because I didn't really know what to expect.

If I was hearing this for the first time, I would still be disappointed because the mixing is horrendous, it's too country (I don't like country music so that's just my personal taste) and, for a duet, MJ comes in a bit too late. You think the mix is amazing? There were times I couldn't even make out what Michael was singing, despite being the only person singing at the time. That's just shit and even the members of Queen themselves agree.

It's not terrible, it's just below average in my personal opinion and I feel the song has much more potential. I'd certainly be keen to give it a few more tries if they at least fixed the mixing and I'm glad to see it getting some positive feedback, even if I don't entirely enjoy it myself.

I have a feeling the record label is behind making Queen do a ridiculous 2-disc compilation for 3 new songs and making Orbit come in on the track. Thank god for iTunes. I'd love to hear Brian Mays and Roger Taylors original updated mix of the song!

First of all it's not country. At all. It's a classic rock ballad. Please go listen some country music before you say this is country!

I misspoke when I said "the song and the mix are amazing". What I meant is that the song is amazing (obviously) and that the new music/instrumentation/production/arrangement is amazing. I agree with you and with Roger and Brian of course that vocals should be louder in the mix. Mixing is not great, but I'm sure they'll fix that until 10.11.2014. when it will be officially released. But the new version (that's what I meant) is amazing.

And when i said "different expectations" I was talking about stolen and leaked demo/fanmade version. If we didn't hear that version we wouldn't know the version with Michael and Freddie each singing one line and duetting.

I don't know why it would be a good thing not to know that there exist better versions of this song. The demos and fanmade versions show that this could have been done a lot better. That's not the fault of the leaks but Orbit's version. It's not amazing to me at all.

I don't think the leaked demo or fanmade remix has ruined the new mix for me... I didn't have big expectations for the song mainly because Michael's version sounded like a very rough demo and it lowered my expectations if anything. I think Michael's voice sounds amazing on the new track (it doesn't sound demo-ish and it's different from the demo) but there's nothing to it other than that.

I was so excited when the song came on. I was driving my daughter to school and telling her this will be great and then I heard it. I can't comment on Michael's vocals because Freddie's were so bad that I assumed there was a fault and just kind of glazed over. Then Roger said what most of us were thinking. The mix was horrible. I would like to think they will fix it but given their comments that they do not seem able to release their own mix I think what we heard is what will be released. Such a shame as I had high hopes for this song. I fully expected it to be a christmas number one contender.

if someone missed the two episodes from september 18th and 19th. the two songs 'thriller' and 'there must be more to life than this' are cutted out due to possible copyright claims.

2014.09.18 - There must be more to life than this - Debuts first on 'BBC Radio 2'

2014.09.19 - There must be more to life than this - Premiere - Brian May & Roger Taylor-Interview

It's the same vocal take from the demo.

I am yet to encounter a single MJ song which was improved by a modern producer.

It was horrible.

I saw no purpose in making this song a duet except to capitalize from the passing of FM and MJ. The production is unfortunate and I hope the other songs on this Queen cd will fare far better than this.

I would have liked to have seen the Estate at least a release statement to fans that Michael was on the duet. Although this is not an Estate/Sony product, the man the Estate represents is on the duet. Michael’s estate will be enriched as I believe Queen is a part of the Sony/ATV catalog. They do not have to encourage Michael’s fans to purchase a competing label’s cd however; an acknowledgement of Michael being a part of this duet is logical and would be appreciated.

There are a number of songs on XSCAPE I like more than the demos and think are improved over the original (even then the demos are still solid). I think the updated versions of LNFSG and Loving You are better than the demos overall, for example. STTR and XSCAPE too, depending on my mood.

Personally, I find both versions of APWNN to be on par with each other but, once again, it depends on what my mood is. Do I want to be transported to the desert? or to some future utopian city? (as I envision when I play the respective songs) :p

Where the hell are some fans getting there are going to be released 3 versions of TMBMTLTT? :wtf: I checked the track list on Amazon, Wikipedia and it's just mentioned the Orbit mix. I'd love there was included the original version but if that was the case it would be specified, wouldn't it?

If this list is accurate then no, they aren't: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sony/ATV_Music_Publishing_artists

It seems to me it was hard for Queen to get the permission of the MJ Estate (they complained about it a lot in the past years) and to be honest, hearing the end result now I kind of understand why. It's not a very good job done on these songs. The fan made version on YouTube is better. What does it tell about this?

D.amien S.hields said Orbit did not mix the other songs, so these must be fake.

The song is just ok for me. The song is so short and Mj is only in there for about 30 seconds it seems. Have never really listened to that much queen stuff. I might check this album out tho. Freddy has a very unique voice for sure. I had heard the song before so I wasn't expecting much. Glad it's out tho. 2 icons together.

I recommend (surprise surprise) Greatest Hits and Greatest Hits II. Those two albums are what got me into Queen :)

Queen are among my top fave artists but I agree that anyone who wants to get into them should start with their GH albums. On studio albums often they had one or two great tracks and there were a lot of fillers, so it's not like they have a single "go to" studio album, nor do I think their studio albums are as strong in themselves as Michael's for example. But they had a lot of great songs over the years so yeah, I think GH and GH II are the best choice from them. And I think they were an incredible live band mainly thanks to Freddie's talent as a great live singer and great entertainer.

BTW, Queen had two Nr 1 hits in the US and one of those they had thanks to Michael, basically. It was Another One Bites The Dust which the band did not intend to release as a single first but Michael convinced them they should because it would be a great hit. The other band members were still reluctant but Freddie said if MJ said it was gonna be a hit then they should release it and the rest is history. It became one of their biggest hit in the US ever.

I see no logic for the Estate to promote this not that big of a project [you seem to agree with me on this] even just a bit - I think they were kind of forced into agreeing to release it, anyway. Like I said even before the song was released on the radio, I would rather them to focus on APWNN promotion and Xscape in general. Queen has more than enough living people that can push this forward and they just got the MJ brand on board.

To me it sounded like BM and RT didn't have much say in this production, let alone involve MJ people in this pre-release job... So, they're not really behind it.

Does sound like a classic Queen song. This is their song. If it were to be Michael's, they would have had class A producers, Timbaland, agreed by many to be a very respected producer and made a massive change and modernised songs from Scape for chart success. It clearly worked #dealwithit
