Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie 'Searching for Neverland' from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

I doubt this will be any good. I will wait and hear what others think - if it is all garbage and negative I will not wanna waste time on it.

Should it be just neutral I will give it a chance I think. Hope it will be on youtube or something so I can watch it - should I want to.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

I wonder when the first promo will be released.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

Looking at the short clips and pictures - this is going to be rediculous.
Navi sounds like a duck with a cold and even though the makeup looks better than what he normally has on- he looks like a woman more than anything else.
This is so disappointing.

I checked out his facebook page and saw that he found it nescesarry to promote his own movie by bashing the one with Earnest Valentino. That can only mean his movie is far worse and he is trying to do damage control beforehand.

Lets hope this movie blows over quickly and we can all move on soon.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

^ I don't think dogging on earnests film means he's doing damage control.. I see it as actually the opposite.. He feels so proud of his protrayl that he's confident is on a level he can talk trash knowing his is coming out..

In no way does this speak to the actual quality, but just says he's proud of his work

Hm. Maybe youre right. However isnt that being cocky rather than confident?
Either way talking trash the way he did was really unprofessional. Im sure it will eventually backfire on him.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

we will see, I mean... I really don't know what to expect, I'll say what keeps me optimistic is the face De Passe is behind the film and by pictures and clips it seems Navi at the very least tried (and crew tried to make him look as MJ as possible)

what the result is, we will have to wait and see.

Yep. But we wont know for sure its no good unless we watch it.
Personally, I'm not feeling Navi in the role.

Nevertheless, Imma set my DVR.

Thank you for the info.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

Omg are they for real????? This is gonna be just horrible

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

We seem to always assume the worse... for understandable reasoning, but there has been times we've been proven wrong. If this comes out anywhere between mediocre to good, I'll get something out of it.

Has anyone here read the book that the film is based from?

The film is based on Remember The Time: Protecting Michael Jackson In His Final Days.

In my opinion it was respectfully written. I liked it.

Lifetime’s Michael Jackson biopic will knock fans off their feet.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive first-look clip from the upcoming TV movie, fans will find out that Jackson had little interest in being the King of Pop. Instead, he just wanted to be a good dad.“People had no idea the kind of stuff Mr. Jackson’s been through all his life,” Chad L. Coleman, who portrays Whitfield, says in the trailer while talking to Jackson’s other bodyguard Beard, played by Sam Adegoke.

The biopic is based on Whitfield and Beard’s 2014 best-selling book Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days, which the duo penned about protecting the King of Pop’s family as he picked up his life and moved from city to city in the wake of his 2005 sexual abuse charges. Until his death in 2009, the bodyguards remained by Jackson’s side.

Searching for Neverland will narrate the final years of Jackson’s life through the perspective of two of his personal bodyguards, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard, and will include his time as a father to sons Prince and Blanket, and daughter Paris.

That's exactly what I've said on the trailer on YouTube, I'm gonna give it a whirl and if it isn't what we expected, then no. I hope it's on YouTube too, because I'll know it may not be on LifeTime Canada and my family just removed the channel off their Bell satellite.

I bet it will be better than what man In The Mirror "Biopic" was... lol that was beyond horrible

I guess the screening date for the UK was inevitable :(

Britney didn't deserve this and neither does Michael.
I'm trying to be positive, but I just can't get over the fact that this is a LIFETIME movie/production.

I just cannot.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

Trainwreck written all over it..same themes, same narrative

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

I'll be watching it. I'm still holding out some hope, because of Suzanne's involvement, but I'd feel better about it if she was doing some press for it. I've liked the scenes they've teased with so far, but they've been teeny snippets. Can't really tell if Navi can act and that and the script can make it or break it.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

the very first thing about this whole situation.......that concert show should have never been scheduled or agreed upon...never should have happened.....Michael Jackson hadn't performed a concert tour in 12 years.......he was not prepared to do them shows, the last performance he did was back in 2002 during that American Bandstand anniversary show......but he was in a situation where he had to sign up for those shows.....

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

^ I think you thought you were in another thread!?!

... lets just see what happens, of course I have reservations but I'll stay open enough to tune in and make a fair judgement after the fact.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

"LOL" at the pic or?

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

I caught the trailer during one of those trash Lifetime flicks last weekend and it left no kind of impression on me. Intentions might be good, but, this is Michael Jackson. There was absolutely no spark in that scene to make me want to sit down and invest an hour and some change to watch it.

Re: Exclusive: Michael Jackson TV Movie Coming from Emmy Winning Motown Veteran

Rolling Stone just published a longer trailer tonight: It blocks the actual trailer so I'm adding the link.

Lifetime has released the first trailer for their Michael Jackson biopic Searching for Neverland, starring the self-proclaimed "world's greatest" King of Pop impersonator Navi.

The movie, based on the 2014 book by Jackson's personal bodyguards Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard, follows Jackson in the final years of his life, with the pop legend trying to balance parenthood with fame.
"He doesn't want to be the King of Pop. He just wants to be Mike," one of the bodyguards says in voiceover. "A normal American dad."
However, the trailer hints at the darker side of Jackson's final years as investigators question the bodyguards about Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor who administered the deadly dose of Propofol in the hours before the singer's death.
Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland premieres Memorial Day, May 29th, on Lifetime.
Whitfield and Beard's book detailed their experiences working for Jackson and protecting his family from the aftermath of his 2005 sexual molestation trial to his 2009 death. In the biopic, The Walking Dead actor Chad L. Coleman plays Whitfield.
Jackson is the latest celebrity to become the focus of a Lifetime movie, following the network's campy biopics for Brittany Murphy, Anna Nicole Smith, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston and, most recently, Britney Spears.
Jackson's pet chimpanzee Bubbles will also soon be the recipient of his own biopic thanks to an offbeat stop-motion movie co-directed by Taika Waititi.

I think the last paragraph is hilarious-network's "campy" biopics.
