Can’t Get Outta The Rain

…it looks like these will be the last 4. If not then they got some ‘splaining to do. Can’t Get Outta The Rain should be on the digital edition to make more room for a song like Starlight but at this rate I can’t see that song on this…unless they couldn’t clear something with a songwriter for some oddball reason.

if we don't support this reissue the estate won't give us any new material and that would be the worst thing so support the reissue i'm honestly glad that we finally get new material at all because for a long time it sounded like the estate would not releasing anything new at all, so I'm really relieved and happy that they're feeding us unreleased stuff again and it would be a mistake not to support the new edition because if it doesn't matter, nothing new will be released at all and that would be really depressing and you can really say that they don't do this reissue badly they said from the beginning that there will also be rarities with new stuff so i'm happy we get the toy, behind the mask original demo and what a lovely way to go a completely unheard song and 4 songs are still to be revealed

Disappointed. They better release some info in the booklet to back up that recording date.

Also, Bill Bottrell said that the first track he ever did for Michael was State Of Shock Demo with Freddie and we know and it's been confirmed that that demo was recorded in 1983! So how can Bill mix something for Michael in 1982 if he did his first ever job for him in 1983! They are lying about this one for sure!
Songs get mixed after they were recorded. It’s entirely possible that the mix Bill did was from the Bad sessions.

I’d also like some concrete answers regarding its recording date, but I’m a little amused that the burden of proof isn’t on whoever is claiming it isn’t a Thriller outtake. I’m not gonna blindly follow the estate, but until contrasting proof emerges, I’m gonna stick with the 1982 date.

Just re-listened Sunset Driver after a very long time as I don't like the song (much better song than Got The Hots though) and it screams Off The Wall/The Wiz era all over it. Maybe Triumph. But doesn't sound like anything on Thriller or worked for Thriller.

Also, Bottrell mixing it in 1982 is impossible.

I’d also like evidence of its recording date, but not just from the Estate—from everyone who is insisting that it was recorded earlier. The burden of proof is on everyone here.
I believe Bill mixed it. But for sure not in 1982. For Bad, maybe yeah. It was also worked on for Dangerous and it became Blood On The Dancefloor. But the version on TUC doesn't sound like Thriller, Bad or Dangerous era.

No, absolutely not 1982. Likely later.

People were convinced that “Slave to the Rhythm” was from 2003, that the released vocal on “Best of Joy” was recorded in the 1990s, that the released version of “Much Too Soon” was from the Thriller era, that “For All Time” was written during the Thriller sessions, blah blah blah. What a song “sounds like” isn’t a good indicator of when it was actually made.

Also, you’re mixed up here. MJ only allegedly sang a couple lines of “Sunset Driver” on a “Blood on the Dance Floor” demo. They aren’t the same song.

Really weird they're trying to say it was written for Thriller when it definitely wasn't. As someone who feels accurate history is important it's incredibly disheartening to see them lying about small stuff like this, stuff there's not even a reason to lie about.

whats really disappointing is that we will very likely NOT get both Hot Street and Niteline onto this release!

but: CGOTR
i wish there was at least a less annoying Early Demo version of this Wiz song
Oh my God why are some of you craving the inclusion of HS and NL so much? They've been heard by us for countless years, just do a YouTube search and you'll easily find them. Give me NEW, unheard stuff - like Chicago 1945 or some other song we have no idea about their existence. I can't understand you who like to pretend that some songs have never leaked.

Has the Estate ever told the truth?

So we should just buy something to make the Estate happy and make them more money? That makes zero sense. What have they done for us the last 10 years? Nothing. We did the job defending MJ over LN they did shit. I will buy the unheard tracks only. The leaked songs are not that good and I’m not paying for them. Starlight in particular is only worth giving a second listen. Hopefully they read this forum and add some more unheard demos. We always make excuses for the estate holding tracks back. If they want to make money release something worth buying. I mean they should be releasing Thriller in HD next week and gearing up for Halloween. If they don’t they are fools.

because my expectations are lower than yours, and probably not even mine will be met by the final tracklist..

of course another unleaked song would be even better. but I am just wondering why we get sunset driver and CGOTR instead of Niteline and Hot street.. anyway lets wait and see..

probably next week: Carousel (incomplete version) :D

I try to be simply happy with Behind The Mask Demo. That will be awesome regardless of the rest! And I am already happy enough with that one.

I'd like to have Hot Street & Nightline on cd. The leaks are sourced from a hissy 2+generation cassette. In addition it is possible we'll get different mixes.

Set aside your feelings towards the estate for a second here. The only source of information for this song comes from the credits, which have been available for nearly 20 years. Only two men are listed as contributors, neither of whom met Michael until the early 1980s. Literally no other evidence has arisen to discredit or challenge this, other than people saying, “Well, it sounds like an older song.”

It’s just crazy to me, lol. Even when you consider the estate’s unreliability, this is nothing more than fans looking at long established facts and challenging it just because it’s easy to complain about it. I’d love to see some evidence that it was done earlier than the 1980s, but the burden of proof is on everyone who says it was.

There's clean lossless copies of both, have them on my PC. I don't really have a problem with them including leaked tracks, though. Just already released stuff I'm annoyed about.

the only song i just genuinely do not want is cant get out of the rain, else i couldnt care.

getting the finished version of She's trouble in HQ, the demo to Behind the mask, the infamous The Toy and the extremely elusive Lovely Way is more than enough to justify 14 euro + postage, anything on top of that is a plus in my eyes.

On The Ultimate collection, Sunset Driver clearly falls in the Off the Wall era if the track order is anything to go by. Is it possible we will get a different "Thriller" version of the song?

Personally? yeah, i agree with this a 100%, the only things i REALLY wanted out of this anniversary release was a finished version of She's Trouble and the original Behind The Mask, and guess what, those two tracks ended up being announced first haha

So which version we getting? the Ultimate Collection or a different version?

longer text from official instagram:

"This was another song Michael originally wrote for the “Thriller” album. Although Michael also considered it for “Bad”, he never finished it but released it as a bonus track on The Ultimate Collection in 2004. It was also one of the songs featured in the Ubisoft game, “Michael Jackson: The Experience”. The mixer on the original 1982 demo was Bill Bottrell who would go on to co-produce tracks on Michael’s Dangerous album."

Chicago 1945 doesn't have anything to do with Thriller.

On the other hand Nite Line and Hot Street are the songs that were on the actual track list at some point. They should definitely be on this album!

If you like YouTube quality and stolen material being illegally shared - ENJOY IT! I want official release and CD quality.

Lossless copy yes, but from what source. Sound quality will be better on the official CD for sure.

Eh, it's kind of a trade off really.
You get = better quality due to a better transfer from a better condition tape? hopefully?
BUT you also get = terrible mastering, so bad that it gets to the point that you might wanna check out that old lossless copy again.
