How do mistakes like this get through quality control?
 
What a disappointment on the mixing front. At this point, I'm just convinced the estate's executors are utterly incompetent buffoons, from the rollout to how bad certain tracks sound. The leaks from earlier this week unironically sound much better. Though it'd be too much for me to expect the Estate to act like a proper estate.

(Also the song selection kind of sucks. Everyone else and their dog has already brought it up, but was there really a need for Outta The Rain to be on the second disc rather than the third? Hot Street and Nite Line could easily take the two slots CGOOTR and Sunset Driver have, and nothing substantial would be lost.)

P.S: Something tells me that Quincy's repsonsible for holding up the remaining 10-15 songs in the vault out of the thirty recorded for the album. We've barely gotten anything from the actual sessions on Thriller 40, and we were lucky to have the songs cut from Thriller 25 leak onto the Internet a year or two after its release. The Estate really needs to patch things up with him and Rod's estate, and fast.

Pity there is nothing we can do about it. You would think Michael's children would be more concerned about how their father's estate is being handled.

The melody of The Toy is so strong. That song was ahead of it's time. IMO, MJ and Quincy should've changed the lyrics a bit and made it fit on Thriller. It's that good.

You guys aren't making me excited for this lol. I came close to getting Thriller 40 at Target today. I asked if they were out today because they had a place labeled with a sticker for them. The Target employee said they had 7 in the back and would see about getting me one. Unfortunately, she asked her coworker for help who told her they won't be here until the 18th. I just had to say thanks anyway and walk away politely.
 
When the songs get remixed you all complain because they’re messing up the original take, when the songs are left in the original demo state you all complain because the songs sound bare and unpolished.
Most of these songs were never finished, it is unfair to expect otherwise. Just stick to the released albums if you can’t properly set your expectations.
 
Do we know if Sunset Driver is a different demo than the one on Ultimate Collection? I assume it is.
 
Why does Starlight have some type of traction noise or something weird in it... thats weird & niteline is cut short. Smh. I just want who do you know & the 4k at this point

That is tape distortion on Starlight. It shows a lack of quality control by the estate. I’m hoping it’s just a faulty cd rip but considering what they did with the originals on Xscape…I don’t know…

When we say that we want MJ's music released in their original state we don't mean it literally and it's unfair of you to assume so. They need to be given a proper treatment so that they're presented in decent quality. It's just ridiculous how for example in Xscape the released demos of the title track and APWNN sounded worse than their leaked versions and the original version of Chicago sounded so muffled. Now we're facing similar issues. The Estate doesn’t bother cleaning and mixing the tracks properly and I highly doubt they did everything they could to restore the demos to their full potential, it's just laziness (as also seen in the booklet with names written incorrectly and those poorly written notes about the songs).
