To me the worst era of outtakes would probably be Thriller, most of the songs are mediocre at best and you can tell right away why they were cut from the album. There are very few songs that stand out.

Yeah, the Thriller outtakes are very stale. They’re mostly very safe and middle-of-the-road synth-pop that anybody could’ve pulled off.

Yeah, the best stuff was almost always chosen for MJ's albums but Thriller is probably the most obvious example to point to in that regard. Most of them you can instantly see why they didn't make it lol.

The only Invincible outtake left we know for certain has vocals is Monster, it could be that or it could be an entirely unheard song. Or the leaker got the era wrong and it could still be a song we know about.
