Invincible was not only better than Off the Wall, but well deserving of it's "Album of the Decade" award, people need to acknowledge how GREAT it was

The reported posts are all deleted. The post was perhaps edited before.

The thread has been cleaned up, lets get back to the topic.
Ok but you are being pretty dismissive of reports about racist posts from several users, no? I realise you aren't paid as a mod but I don't expect to see that kind of stuff dismissed on a Michael Jackson forum.

He's said he's black as well, and me personally, I've heard worse from friends and family, tbh. So obviously while it's offending To many of the members here and is obviously not okay, I personally am not that offended.

I severely dislike him still. And watch him reply to me now

He also said he’s 20, I believe. It doesn’t really show, does it? I have my reservations.

I believe he's also homophobic and I've noticed the way he talks to younger members in the chat rooms , it comes across as a bit creepy.

He never apologizes for his antics and acts as though nothing has happened.

This is top 5 all time album material right here. That's how good it is.
24 tracks is way too long for an album. That's like 2 hours of music there. Split it into 2 separate albums.

I'm just glad I enjoy and appreciate all his albums. For different reasons. I consider them all like the franchise of a film, part of an ongoing, necessary story. If only we had just gotten one more album at least.

Off the Wall is generally considered MJ's best album, but I don't really agree. I think Thriller is definitely more cohesive, and Dangerous seems to strike the perfect balance between being sonically innovative, creative, and vocally gritty but still bright in some spots. As for Invincible... I don't know, it's not as crazy of a take as some people are making it out to be. Invincible is still a really good album that gets shit on unfairly, I think. It probably really boils down to if you like disco or not. Someone mentioned that Michael's vocals are better by Invincible, but objectively that's just not true. The autotuning on the beginning of Butterflies wouldn't be necessary for Off the Wall era MJ.

Off the Wall, Rock With You, Girlfriend, and It's the Falling in Love are some of the best songs Michael ever recorded. On the flipside, Invincible was a super innovative album with a very unique sound (industrial r&b?). Heartbreaker is something like glitch-pop and a precursor to what would become dubstep--whether that's a good or bad thing on the other hand... Anyway, I think Invincible's mainly bogged down by unnecessary tracks. Songs like Unbreakable, Break of Dawn, You Rock My World, and Threatened are some of the best songs in his catalogue, while songs like Speechless and the Lost Children are among the worst (Cry isn't that great either). But then, then the outtakes make up for those: She Was Loving Me, Escape, A Place With No Name, Blue Gangsta... Seeing Voices, all of these are amazing.

To me dangerous is better than all the other albums but thriller had that special magic that made it thebiggest selling album of all time. I wouldnt say invincible was album of the decade material it was lackimg that special touch thathes late 80s/ 90snmagic had

It's just a typical early 2000s pop sound. Highly futuristic, upbeat, and digital. Invincible basically sounded like pretty much any other pop album at the time.

If "Heartbreaker" is anything remotely like dubstep, then you may as well be saying the same thing about "Pop" by 'N Sync.

I don't hear the similarities between Pop and Heartbreaker. The latter seems to be a genuinely unique and ahead of its time song. But I'm totally open to hearing other songs/albums like Invincible to evidence that the whole project wasn't very innovative/unique. What'cha got?

Also, as an aside, I believe Janet's All For You was infinitely more creative and innovative as it released the same year. Janet tended to be ahead of the curve on music with each album. It's interesting how it sounds nothing like Invincible at all, while the Rhythm Nation influence proceeded into the late 90s for MJ.

Guy III by Guy (2000)
Home by Monifah (2000)
"Grinch 2000" by Busta Rhymes
Have a similar sound to "2000 Watts", at least.

"Heartbreaker" is Darkchild ripping off Timbaland. Compare to "Pony" by Ginuwine, "Are You That Somebody" by Aaliyah, "Jigga What, Jigga Who" by Jay Z, etc.

Michael Jackson's 'Invincible' album is just the male version of Brandy's 'Full Moon' album.

Rodney Jerkins was working on both of these albums at the same time:

"... [Working on Brandy's 'Full Moon' album] was simultaneous with Michael Jackson! I was working on it in the next room. I was doing 2 projects at the same time. I was bringing a lot of what I learned from working with Michael to Brandy..." (Rodney Jerkins, 2020)

Absolute rubbish! Sound nothing like each other.

I just got around to listening to these.

Guy III: Sounds nothing like Invincible. They share some r&b, but not much else. It's largely the neo-soul style that comes the closest, but it's muuuuch more contemporary than that. Also nowhere near the industrial vibe of other tracks like Unbreakable.

Home: There are similarities. I hear the industrial r&b elements. I hear the neo-soul elements (Peaches and Cream). Great album, but it only overlaps on the r&b section, often veering more off into hip hop fusion than anything.

Grinch 2000 has an industrial hip hop sound to it, which makes it adjacent to songs like Unbreakable. There's really not much to say about it.

Pony: Sounds nothing like Heartbreaker. The Aaliyah track sounds nothing like Heartbreaker. The melody in the Jay Z song is similar, but it's not even close to the same genre.

My take after hearing these is: Invincible had a contemporary, but unique sound that was sonically innovative, especially with its blend of genres. It's similar to Dangerous. Dangerous had new jack swing, but it was a very unique, melancholic, polished new jack swing that had not really been heard before.

You can hear many of the same beats from "Spend Time" and "Tellin' Me No" on "2000 Watts".
Pony: Sounds nothing like Heartbreaker.
"Heartbreaker" has a similar "burp" in its beat.
The Aaliyah track sounds nothing like Heartbreaker. The melody in the Jay Z song is similar, but it's not even close to the same genre.
All of them have elements of "drums n bass". While Jay Z's is the only one that's bonafide hip hop, the others are hip hop-influenced.

Brandy's "Anybody" is similar to "Heartbreaker". "What About Us" is also similar to "Threatened".

To say they sound nothing like each other when they both have songs produced by Darkchild is silly. His style is identifiable.

I'm not hearing much with Guy. It sounds like generic r&b. It doesn't really veer off into the direction of 2000 Watts, which is very industrial, and something of a spiritual successor to the Rhythm Nation sound.

A "burp". That is far, far from making it a similar song, let alone within the same genre. It's like saying the James Brown sample in Can't Let Her Get Away makes it a similar song, and that's direct with similarities.

Yes, a lot of songs have drum and bass. I know you're referring to a specific style therein, but it's just not similar enough. Listening to all these has only made me regard Invincible higher. It's been a long time since I've listened to the Brandy album, but I do remember that one in particular being similar. The others here though, not at all.

"Celebrity" and "The Game is Over" by 'N Sync.
"I Ain't the One" by Tyrese.
"Overprotected" (Darkchild remix) by Britney Spears.

Are also fairly similar to Darkchild's cuts on Invincible.
