i dont thoink so history did sell and he had sold out shows for history tour
 
I seriously doubt that there will be any anniversary release of this one….sadly.
Not talking about pointless releases like color vinyl edition or reprint of original cd…..
Thriller40 was a disappointment but I dont regret buying it….not at all.
 
I seriously hope they give the album a second disc, there isn't a lot of outtakes left from the HIStory album but if they include the Hayvenhurst demos of some of the songs on the album along with a couple of extra new songs like Innocent Man and Changes it would still make for an incredible release.

If it turns out to be a bland re-release with nothing new added like the Estate did with the re-issue of OTW it's gonna be a massive let down.
 
will only be about the calendar a new release would be a surprise but I would also be very happy about a new vinyl pressing

It sounds more like an excuse on their part.

The real reason appears to be the 'Leaving Neverland' documentary (2019).

Releasing, right after that documentary, an anniversary version of the 'HIStory' album (an album which was linked to such accusations) would have been an unwise move.

Yeah that's seems logic. But I do believe that they wanted to do a proper anniversary this time around. Maybe by releasing the history tour in HD ( we have proof that it exists with that leak of Billie Jean, and 2 years back Wbss and Earth song were shown at an event.). If it's a good convert is another question, but if they do release it, I won't complain.

For unreleased songs, I don't know what they could release to be honest. There are not a ton of HIStory outtakes.

To be honest I would be happy with a properly remastered album, History tour HD, and the music videos in 4K
 
I might be wrong, but haven’t they commemorated HIStory with a calendar before?

I have no memory of that... I know they celebrated dangerous 25 with a post and some goodies I think. But I have no memory of that happening with HIStory

They released in 2015 an official 'HIStory 20th Anniversary' Calendar.

But the 'HIStory' era photos that they put in the months were very ordinary (CD singles front covers, screenshots from his music videos, etc).

Michael Jackson fans were underwhelmed by that release, and as a result it went unnoticed.
 
Oh yeah ! Found it.

But there are a few different things. It might not be much but on the new one the cover is different. It's not the usual one. I'm not trying to get hopes up ! I'm just starting some things that I noticed.
For Thriller 40 for example, the cover was also not the same, even though it was a lazy edit. For HIStory 30 calendar, it seems also lazy but they put a little more effort into it. It would really surprise me if they are gonna celebrate HIStory 30.
It's also weird that the estate made no announcement whatsoever about this calendar... Well they still have time, it releases in September bit still...

But I have a question, for Thriller 40, when did we start to get images of goodies and stuff ?

Yeah definitely. This picture selection looks a bit better than the usual surface level shots.
 
I'd be surprised with a full Bad 25 style re-release if I'm honest. 2025 will be full focus on the biopic I'd imagine. You'd assume there'd be a soundtrack and all the promotion around it, a HIStory re-release (as amazing as it would be, would be relegated to backseat to the biopic)

It started in May (2022), when they revealed the 'Thriller 40' new logo which fans did not like at all.

In the same month, they continued with revealing new images of official merchandise (T-shirts with that 'Thriller 40' new logo splashed on them).

In August (2022), they revealed the silver 'Thriller 40' album slip sleeve with original artwork (it had a different logo due to fans' negative feedback about the first one).

They could combine both, disc 1: greatest hits/ songs from biopic; disc 2: songs from the vault.
