Likelihood of anniversary editons for Dangerous and HIStory

Any of these "super ultra deluxe editions" cost that much. And that's why they don't sell many copies.

define "filler"
The album version of Jam and Scream. I wouldn't want to fast forward the 14 songs I own, and the 2 spoken interviews, just to get to the 3 new songs and 2 demos.

TUC is very much a case in point. It was a confused load of nonsense. I don't want an album that's part original album tracks, part demos, part remixes and part live recordings. It's very hard to listen to.

The failure of that box set is the reason the Bucharest DVD later got a standalone release. Simpler is better.

now you're comparing apple and oranges
It's literally EXACTLY the same thing.

Or, Sony could treat you with respect, and you could just buy the unreleased tracks on their own?

Think about it. Just for a second.
Of course that would be a good idea, but who other than us fans would be interested in it? You don't make any money that way.
You can also just buy the bonus tracks from an anniversary edition. I did that with Thriller 40 and Bad 25.

I mean in stores
You know what the funny thing is? Stores don't sell music any more.

An 8 year old who has no idea who Michael Jackson is
You know what the funny thing is? Kids don't know what CDs are.

isn’t going to go online and search so it’d make much more sense for someone to stumble upon it in stores like Walmart or Target
But they don't. Record stores closed down. Supermarkets dropped CDs.

To put it even more bluntly - the album era is over. They don't buy them any more. People simply stopped trying to own music. Your idea failed before it even got started.

As for boxsets, did you read the rest of the sentence? I clearly stated like BAD25 AND THRILLER40, you can infer what I mean by boxset. A set that comes in a case like BAD25 and THRILLER40 but has more than one disc.
I certainly wouldn't call those box sets. That's just a double album. Really, it's one disc of stuff you want, and a disc of filler.

No way you believe stores don’t sell cds anymore. Every general store around me sells them. Record stores are still in business. I’ve been to one as recent as a month ago. And kids do know what cds are thanks to modern artists that include things with their physical releases like exclusive tracks not available on iTunes or Spotify or a special poster or pamphlet. You not wanting to get out of your house doesn’t mean these things don’t exist. You’re just too blind to see them.

TUC was kinda a gift to the fans. It's fulfilled its purpose.

I don't have shares in Sony. I literally don't care how much money they make. I'm a consumer. I think like a consumer, not a record label executive.

And you should too.

You seem to be misunderstand my statements. A disc with the album and a disc with demos. JUST LIKE THE PREVIOUS ANNIVERSARY EDITONS.
And those were offensively bad. They had worse sound quality than the 2001 editions (which were already worse than the originals). And they had the worst remixes I've heard in my whole life.

It's really anti-consumer to bundle things. Much better simply to release the second disc on its own for $8.

Believe me, physical discs are the ONLY way I will ever buy music or videogames. And... I'm the only person on my whole housing development that buys CDs.

I live in a major city in the UK, and there are at most a handful of dedicated music stores. Half of those are second-hand. And those are the only places that sell any kind of music.

Sure, two decades ago I could have counted 20-30 places selling CDs. Today, that is most definitely not the case.

Every general store around me sells them.
Good for you. But that's not typical. Let's face it, CDs are as good as dead. They've become a novelty item.

You not wanting to get out of your house doesn’t mean these things don’t exist. You’re just too blind to see them.
I literally go out of my way to find record stores.

And to my dismay, I'm unsuccessful.

Sorry but that comment about not being able to take box sets in your car is probably the dumbest and funniest thing said on here in a while.
Huh? Explain.

Over the last 12 months, well over half of all the music I've listened to has been in the car. But I would never take a box set out of the house.

I just wouldn't.

So the result is that I barely listen to any of my box sets, so they just get forgotten and unplayed, tucked away in a random corner.

Most of that guys comments are moronic.
Or, you could accept it's just a difference of opinion, and not a personal insult on your character, and you could have a mature conversation about it?

They have? Then how is it Amoeba Records post What's In My Bag videos every Monday? This is the one uploaded this week
Also I was just in a Walmart the other day and they still sell CDs (records too). It's a small selection now, but I see lots of kids in Walmart and I'm sure they can see the CDs when they walk by the electronic department.

Calling those songs crap is INSANE. All of these songs fall within the same genres. I think you just are a fan of a specific genre, so that doesn’t mean that these songs are crap. I used to listen to the albums for these songs. They were are great new thing when compared to the rest of his catalog. I’m ok with them not being very good. They are demos and demos aren’t supposed to be the next hit, they’re supposed to be a layout of what to expect when the final song is being produced. I’d like to hear at least somewhat of something we could’ve had.
Fair point , but to the non MJ listener it is hard to even hear what he is saying / singing in those songs. It is certainly not insane to have an opinion may I add. They are guff. Fillers. The only filler song that i felt was great and sung live in Victory , Bad and Dangerous tours and i think even tour b4 Victory was Working day and Night.

BAD 25 Thriller 40 , even leaked rubbish songs like if you dont love me and Man in Black . They have always been around and songs like Nite line. Joy to the internet.
Still doesn’t explain how we’ve already had an anniversary edition for Dangerous and History.

I tried to explain that for economic reasons there won't be an album full of demo versions. Even though I personally would like that and would like boxsets full of demos. But we diehard fans are a very small market.

The estate needs to start creating projects for the fans. Prince estate does it. I'm also a Garth Brooks fan (don't judge 😆). Garth has been releasing a set of huge books called the Anthology collection, one a year... Each book contains 6 CDs containing demos, different versions of songs for each 'era' and the book details where and when each song was recorded.

It's exciting waiting for the release of each one and as far as a collection goes, they display beautifully on a bookshelf.

And @R1chard , technology allows you to copy each CD to your phone or a memory stick if you like, then you can take each one to your car!

Seems like Garth’s estate knows what the fans want. The idea of getting a book that includes cds sounds awesome, but I know the estate hates money and putting effort into something, so they, of course, probably won’t ever do something like that.

K, lemme get serious, if we are being realistic, we'd probably not get D34 and/or H30 because Dangerous and HIStory were not as popular as Bad or Thriller. Also maybe there might be (now before I say, I'm going to hold your hand on this) there might be a reason on why he didn't release some songs in the first place. Also I guess it'd just be kinda weird if the Estate released D34 / H30 and not doing anything for Off The Wall. But like the meme says, low, but never zero, there's like a 00.1% chance that we'd get D34 / H30. But most likely we won't.

History is by far his most meaningful album. He put his heart and soul into the creation of the songs. The songs on History reflect Michael. Dangerous is, arguably, just as big as Bad. RTT and BoW are massive still to this day. I haven’t heard of anything being usable from Off the Wall so that might explain why we haven’t got anything for that album, but it’s absolutely possible we get Dangerous 35. History, maybe not so much as there isn’t much that is done enough to be used.

well, maybe it isn't to the general public. idk I was born in 2010 I know nothing about popularity of albums from the early 90's
I am sure Dangerous is just as talked about as Bad. This isn’t just an album from the early 90s, this is Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer in history.
