"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Movie box office performance is often quantified by referring to the "4 quadrants" - basically to which demographic does it most appeal to - male female young old etc. That's the reason you normally don't see 2 or 3 animated movies or action movies or any other similar genre opening against each other on the same weekend. Usually the studios would choose to offer "counter programming".
Fair point. (y)

Today's speculation about 'Michael'.

From The Times yesterday:
"In the pipeline are movies about The Beatles (four, actually), Michael Jackson (a two-parter), Bruce Springsteen ..."

"Filming the lives of Madonna and Michael Jackson are challenges as big as their stardom. There were reports this week that the Jackson film,
'Michael', directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and starring the singer's nephew, Jaafar, will be split into two parts, both to be released in autumn 2026."

I hope John Campea is wrong about an announcement coming in the next couple of months. Hoping for something sooner than that. Also: disclaimer. I don't think John Campea is 'breaking' anything here. It's old news already but I still enjoyed listening to a few minutes of speculation on this. Bc, god knows, there's nowt else, lol. :ROFLMAO:

In regards to the two movies, John Campea confirming that two sources close to production are saying it “will probably [happen]” and are “something they are seriously sitting down and looking at” is a good sign; to me, it means they are very confident in what they’ve made.
I don’t know where the allegation-plot change rumors fall in this, if at all. Having the allegations in a completely separate film (Part Two) would probably appease investors…

EDIT: Another interesting quote:
“I have heard [from my sources] that they are very, very proud of this film. I've heard they're very proud of the movie, that it's a great movie. What I was told was there are times when it's a hard watch, but they meant that in the really good way. I mean, just think of some other films, some of the greatest films ever had those moments that are really hard to watch. I've heard that, but also they're extremely proud of this film. And I just don't see this as being anything but a win for them if they [release two films].”

^ This quote is why I posted the John Campea vid. It could just be PR fluff but ... idk ... it kinda felt authentic to me.

I don't trust campea. Something about him is just icky. I'd love to be proven wrong. But something tells me he's a guilter/hater

It's so difficult because I can completely understand the need for two films, but I can't help but think it's a harder sell than *the* MJ film to see.
On the other hand... would you think the same way about Michael's albums? What is the album to hear?

His life was so complicated and career spanned a hell of a lot of years despite passing away aged only 50 so yeah 2 films makes sense but…..

The more I think about it, having it split into two lessens the first film, which I would expect to be a simply epic and hopefully a wonderful cinematic experience.

Hilarious that what some here take from campea saying that he thinks this movie could win an Oscar is that he is a hater and not to be trusted.

I don't know his opinion on MJ, he does a show about movies and the movie industry.

Part 1: "Michael - The Rising of a Star"
Part 2: "Michael - The Fall of a Man"
Or something like that could work. Let Part 1 end on a shocking cliffhanger in 1993. That way more than enough people would come back to watch the second part.

I assume it's not gonna be in a clickbait-style like this (or should I call it watchbait? 😅). That sounds so cheap and trashy... Michael deserves a high quality production and the whole promotion and titles should be appropriate.

How about Michael - book 1 and Michael - book 2?
You take away the negative association of his later years and you pay respect to his HIStory album.
Hmm, thinking about it... why not do a really autobiographical title and call it Michael - HIStory book 1 & 2?

Michael chapter 1
Michael chapter 2

Lovin’ these haha

For the boring answer, I’m mostly positive it will just be “Michael” for Part 1, then have a subtitle for Part 2 (top of my head, something like “Michael: Redemption”) a la “Wicked”’s naming convention. “Michael” is too good of a title to not be used standalone: simple and powerful.

Campea was pushing the nonsense rumor about the biopic being in trouble because of the chandler settlement (which I know for a fact is a lie) so forgive me for being skeptical of him.

Now he's singing a different tune, but I believe his sources were hostile anti-MJ people like Belloni. So how can i trust what he says?

I can't wait to see this finally. I want the world to see who the real Michael Jackson was I just get so sad when today you still hear negative things it time to hear the positive side of MJ Miss you King Of Pop 👑
