What's a song you love except for one part?

It’s ASMR before ASMR was a thing. I like it but I do get why they removed it.

Haha yeah it's intense but MJ's talking voice was also pretty special and gave the song something different too imo

I vaguely recall reading about this years ago, probably on MaxJax also. I have a few copies from 87. I’ll have to check the catalog number when I get a chance, thanks for sharing this.

I've read this a few times over the years actually, but never seen anything to confirm it. The single mixes are all better, so I think it's just that he was happier with the single mixes and pulled a George Lucas on Bad like he did with OTW and Thriller.

Jackson pulled a Lucas! I love the original album, but you make a fair point about the single mixes. They’re wonderful.
 
Speed Demon
I just don't like the refrain part. With the keyboard in the background. It destroys the vibe of the song imo.
 
Pretty much any of his songs with long intros, You Rock My World in particular.
 
I hate the start of Privacy, especially the part were the child goes "mommy look it's Michael Jackson"

I've always felt that it doesn't fit the narrative of the song. Privacy is about the media hounding him, but the start of the song makes it seem like fans hounding him.

That doesn't fit with what Mike was about, and in my opinion it detracts from the song

I thought maybe it's a refence to the 'Look granny, it's Michael Jackson!!' from Moonwalker; after which the people, but also the paparazzi start following him

Brad Sundberg told during a seminar I attended they even had a bed in the studio for the recording of this intro. So Michael could really lie down while speaking those words!

I don't think that Little Susie is meant to be a singalong song that folks use for karaoke. 😁 I guess you're not into Papa Was A Rolling Stone by The Temptations. The album version is 12 minutes long and it's almost 4 minutes before any vocals appear. Which was also common with late 1960s psychedelic rock & 1970s funk, progressive rock, & disco tracks.

in "Break of Dawn". Hella cringe.

The acapella parts in "Speechless" make me cringe, too lol

Speechless, such a beautiful song until the big chorus with the choir comes in, it ends up becoming super cheesy
 
Speaking of speechless, the acapella part in this is it I find to be cringe. The way he sings the word explain is incredibly out of tune.
 
Love P.Y.T. except for the na na na part 😶‍🌫️
It's too "tame" for the song imo, especially the na na na sung by the female voice (LaToya?)

I don't really like PYT but I agree with you - the backing vocals from the sisters doesn't do the song any favours. Imo! For me it's two things - the actual 'na na na na' doesn't really work - no idea why, I'm not a musician, it just doesn't work for me. Plus, the voices somehow take the song into a different space which I'm not keen on. Doesn't ruin the song - not at all - just feels like [the voices] belong somewhere else. You're right about the 'tame' thing. Everything just drops a level during that bit.

You'll notice, though, that I don't have a career as a globally famous pop star. So there's that! :D
