"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Imagine it’s getting delayed not because they wanna get everything right, but because Lionsgate doesn’t care about prioritizing the movie, for some reason…
 
Ps a Janet movie would flop , not a good ideal at all unless it was maybe a small Netflix type movie

As a fan It’s frustrating, but if that’s what it takes to get it right -they only have one opportunity to do this- then fair enough. Between the re-shoots and having to reorganise the script because of having to remove certain material that was liable, it probably has set them back a bit. April is a farther six months away again. If it’s pushed farther again after that, then it’ll just begin to feel a little annoying.

And what does this mean for a teaser or trailer? More months of waiting again?

Why does my normal day to day life fly by at a hundred miles an hour, yet waiting for Michael feels like a hundred years per month?
 
Avengers Doomsday delayed until the end of 2026. Michael now has no competition for a Summer release and another movie in October if they want it

From that article that @ChanceToDance posted, this was the bit that jumped out at me:

"While “Michael” was a major part of last year’s Lionsgate CinemaCon presentation, no footage from the project was shown during this year’s outing. The film, produced by “Bohemian Rhapsody’s” Graham King, wrapped principal photography in May 2024, but John Logan’s script is in the process of being revised in advance of reshoots."

How long could the script re-write take? Is Colman Domingo needed for the re-shoots? If so, has he finished filming Euphoria (they started back in February, iirc)? Do they need to pull other actors out of other projects? :unsure:

The media is now claiming that Michael Part I will end before Thriller allegedly with Bubbles in the movie, however Michael left the Jackson 5 after the Victory Tour and adopted Bubbles after the release of Thriller. Part 1 would run from the mid-1960s to about 1980 or so, and then Part 2 would cram in, at bare minimum, Thriller, Bad, the 1993 case, the 2003-05 case, and This Is It? Absolutely no way in hell is that true.

This type of stuff doesn't bother me that much, tbh. It could be lies or just misinformation or just the media going with random rumours that are flying around. Calling The Jacksons the Jackson 5 is just crappy, careless 'journalism' or stupidity or whatever.

As for Bubbles, I can easily imagine him being included in the film but not in the right time frame. They are going to make quite a few little 'adjustments' with the timeline, I would think.

They said they have 3 and a half hours worth of footage . I highly doubt each film will be 3 hours long.

The “reshoots” portion makes me hopeful; this flies in the face of the sources saying allegations scenes were being removed/reworked. The theory I posted a few weeks ago that the reshoots were instead for a 2-film structure to separate the allegations to a second film was a coping one, but looks like it may be true 😆
