"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

The “reshoots” portion makes me hopeful; this flies in the face of the sources saying allegations scenes were being removed/reworked. The theory I posted a few weeks ago that the reshoots were for a 2-film structure was a coping one, but looks like it may be true 😆
This is also very much a editorial error as Michael left the Jacksons in 1984-85 not Off the Wall. But this timeline would maybe work, one film in April and running through the Summer and another in October through December.

Not sure if it is an editorial error. Someone passed along that information. With Graham's track record (cough Bohemian Rhapsody cough), an accurate timeline ain't something to be expected lol

It only makes sense if they are just copying the Jacksons American Dream
Michael Part One - 3 Hours
1964 - Career beginnings
1969 - Jackson 5 first performance
1970-73 - Jacksonmania
1974-78 - World Tours
1979-80 - Off the Wall / Destiny Tour
1982-83 - Thrillermania
1984 - Victory Tour / Jackson 5 break up / Beatles catalog
1985 - We are the World / End of the movie
Michael Part Two - 3 Hours
1987 - Neverland ranch / Bad album
1988-89 - Music Videos / Bad World Tour
1991-92 - Dangerous era / Bucharest Concert
1993-94 - Super Bowl Halftime / False Allegation / Investigation
1994-95 - Marriage to Lisa Marie Presley / History Era
1996-97 - History World Tour / Birth of his Children
2001-02 - Invincible Era / Conflicts with Sony Music
2003-05 - Bashir Accusation / Second Accusation / Criminal Trial
2009 - This is It Rehearsals / Michael is murdered / end of Movie
In my opinion, The Jacksons: An American Dream only worked because the J5/Jacksons eras are easy to condense (mainly because very little of interest happens during those years, at least comparatively). How on earth do you adequately condense Michael Jackson’s career from 1982 onward? There’s enough material from the Bad era alone to fill a full movie.

Timelines will be manipulated and it won’t be a 100% accurate presentation, such is the case with any biopic, but I would be genuinely shocked if they are actually trying to shove 1980 through 2009 into a single movie without it being an overloaded, rushed mess.

I hate to get into more dialogue about a movie that ain't coming anytime soon but.

It's pretty easy to condense things.

Dangerous is largely the Tour, maybe Oprah, The Superbowl, and then the allegations.

HIStory is the marriage to Lisa, the Media Circus, and then a bit of Blood on the Dance Floor, and the birth of the kids.

Invincible. Well it sadly doesn't matter much, positive or negative opinion aside. The allegations are the weightier part of it all and that would probably just parallel what was done with the Dangerous era.

Then you skip to This Is It and it's really just the announcement, touch on rehearsals, and June 25. Why cannibalize what's already there (This Is It Documentary)?

Painkiller use and insomnia would be woven throughout the entire film to ease off needing to really emphasize it.

Really a lot of this story could also be thematically covered by appropriate uses of certain songs. Just make a few cool montages, maybe utilize some flashbacks, and so much is properly conveyed.

And that's how you make a biopic.

Could it be the reason why they want to put Thriller in the second movie, just so it would be in the movie that will be released around Halloween?

Whatever movie has Thriller in it is going to do gangbusters. You wanna make 2 movies and get the casuals to actually tune in, you include Thriller. Off The Wall can carry part 1.

Wasn't Michael in New York when 9/11 happened? One could interpret the attacks and the resulting cancellation of tours and promotions as the reason for Invincible's failure. There's some truth to that. One could link 9/11 with the charity single What More Can I Give to give this era a little meat on its ribs.

If the first movie is everything before Thriller, with the second being Thriller + after - I can't see the first one doing very well commercially

No offence to Mr JT - or OTW - but I'm not convinced OTW could carry Pt.1. It's super significant in Michael's adult solo career and a great album - his magnum opus according to some people. But, with a mainstream audience in mind, I'm not sure it can carry the film to blockbuster level.

That said, I could be wrong plus I have no idea where the films should be split.

FYI Michael Jackson bio-pic “Michael” is pushed to 2026 maybe 2027! So glad I got to see the footage & on-set scenes I did… it’s sooo good! Part of the delays are legal reasons (that are BEYOND frustrating) the other is run time - they admit it may be split into TWO FILMS.

Who else is sick of pensake media's articles about the biopic?

These 22 days of extra filming does not jibe with bullshit they've been spewing about the Chandler settlement. Lions gate is investing MORE money into this film, so how can it be in trouble like the media's been claiming?

22 more days of footage to spend a fortune on CGI noses as well :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

They could split the Thriller era in two, put the Motown 25 moonwalk in the first movie and the Thriller music video in the second movie, now people are gonna be so confused, they won't know which movie they should go see, so they'll just have to watch both. 😁

The fact that the biopic has been postponed to 2026/2027 means nothing stands in the way of HIStory 30. There's no excuse not to celebrate this anniversary. By the way, 2027 is the 40th anniversary of Bad. I imagine the second part of the biopic will be about that era.

I must say that my enthusiasm for this movie is starting to fade. All this uncertainty and the fact that it will most likely be split into two parts.

I’m concerned that by expanding on certain scenes could actually add unnecessary dialogue that turns into a drag.

The rumour that part 1 will end after OTW is nuts. I really don’t want another American dream.

MJ deserves one EPIC movie

Out of curiosity how old will JC be in26/27?

Well, the biopic stands in the way. It’s my understanding that everything Dangerous, HIStory related is to happen after the biopic? I may have misunderstood? So with the delay -which was inevitable I guess- we have another possible two years in the wilderness.

And will they throw us a bone? I doubt it. The estate don’t ever seem to feel sorry for or obligated to this fanbase to the point where they release a new demo or a new piece of footage. Sure, we might get a “Let’s look forward to the future, Lots to come” vague type of empty statement, but apart from that, nothing.

I don’t mind waiting for the biopic, but with the secrecy around it, and nothing else from the estate, it’s all a bit drab. I don’t see how it could hurt them to release a new song for instance, or every few weeks release little unseen vignettes of MJ. Is there not a single person in that organisation who says, “This is rough on the fans, we need to give them something to keep their spirits up”.

Am I wrong? Dangerous and HIStory were mentioned in a recent statement that was quite vague as usual. Why not do something for HIStory’s 30th?

Anyways, there will be nothing apart from another 1 to 2 years of speculation. I’m sure the film will be worth it in the end, but man, would it really kill them to press on with some sort of project for the time being. It’s sad that the lifelong hardcore core fanbase are thrown in with the casual curious public.
