To make a concise note of the new information contained within @Stefano MJS extended Mexico Deposition (around 3:45:00 onwards):

- Michael didn't like Baby Be Mine very much; it made the Thriller album because he was outvoted by Quincy and Rod, who preferred it to Hot Street.

- Michael loved Hot Street, calling it a "hit song" that has never been released. Michael wanted it on Thriller, but Rod was not a huge fan of his own work in this instance and voted against it's inclusion

- Michael didn't like Rolling the Dice, hence it not making the Thriller album.

- We already knew that Thank You For Life shares the same chords as The Girl Is Mine - Lucy is in Love with Linus also shares the same chords (I think this is new info)

If there's anything I've missed, or anything anyone else notices that is new info please let us know

And I want to slam these two but I can’t truthfully. It was good choices the whole way around. Not nearly as egregious as Quincy not liking Smooth Criminal.

There’s a lot of very poor recollection on Michael’s part during the deposition, assumedly due to the effects of what he was going through at the time. He’s constantly referred to his October 1989 deposition, where he seems to have been a lot sharper in remembering songs and dates

Nevertheless, you’re right that he never tried to hide his distaste for certain songs lol

Buxer was not going to be a hit maker. The music is nice, but it's not anything that was going to get MJ back on top of the charts.

Will.I.Am, RedOne, Ne-Yo, that was the best bet to get him back with hits.

It's a real shame we haven't heard anything from these seasons yet. I'd be incredibly interested to hear what the demos from will.i.am and Red One sounded like; that's honestly what interests me most.
