"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

It's like some of you are desperate to be negative about this movie.
I don't care enough to be positive or negative about the movie. It is what it is. It's not my job to be enthusiastic. I have no control over his good it is, and take no benefit from its success.

All I can do is wait for the movie to come out, and then decide whether to watch it or not, and then form an opinion about whether it's good or bad.

I'm not gonna talk it up or talk it down, or start jumping around just because there's a couple of seconds of a "teaser trailer" it whatever it is people are getting excited about.

My happiness does not depend on the film breaking box office records or whatever. I couldn't give a shit how much money Sony's lawyers stand to make. My sense of self-worth is not linked to whether critics or other fans enjoy the film. It's literally irrelevant.

I'm honestly baffled why some people on here take it as a personal insult just because people have doubts about the quality and/or truthfulness of this movie.

Fandom obsession is the answer. Their self worth is explicitly connected with the products the estate release and how MJ is perceived.

He was a human, flaws and all. Not a god or perfection…

The way things have rapidly turned into this monster makes me very sad.

In 2026 we will experience another Michaelmania. Just like in the 80s, 90s and 2009.
The mania of the 1980s wasn’t just about a man. It was about the way that man, the King of Pop, bent time, culture, and commerce to his will. It was about the arrival of a new era, one where Black brilliance reigned supreme.

You are entitled to your opinion, sorry so many people are attacking you for this. The lack of kindness and basic respect here is astounding.

And then this.

Ok? I never said anything about that :ROFLMAO:
You did but you re-edited your message. But that’s neither here nor there. My point is, if Elvis was The King Of Rock & Roll and The Beatles were The Fab Four, and if Beyoncé is Queen Bey……then Micheal was the gawd damn undisputed King Of Pop. 👍

Now, let’s get back on topic before we get told off.

I think you are confusing me with someone else

Nope, you said that Michael wasn’t a king, that all people are equal. I read it just before you edited it and it’s fine anyway. 👍

My point is that no, he is in fact The King Of Pop.
I never said he wasn’t a king? I said it’s bad to think Michael was a GOD*. The original message was talking about the moniker.

I haven’t edited that message either.

I just don’t believe in celebrity worship. I recognise Michael not as a GOD but as a human who suffered but managed to create beautiful art and send a great message.

His tag line to sell his art ‘KING OF POP’ is one thing but I don’t think it matters in the overarching sentiment his work attempts to convey.

I don’t think it’s about celebrity worship and I don’t think anyone took the tag: King of Pop as a literal reference to Michael proclaiming himself to being an actual king. It was very clearly a play on words like any other artist of that stature.

Anyways, what I took umbrage with was R1chard’s nonsensical claims that Michael alienated half his fanbase. That is simply not true. There was no big announcement, there was no news broadcast to proclaim that ‘from now on Michael Jackson will be addressed as The King Of Pop. It was simply an adornment in the same fashion as all the other greats who adopted similar monikers.

To call it narcissistic, vain and vulgar, to say it was one of the biggest mistakes of his career is a kick in the teeth to Michael and the fans. Something I’d expect from a media critic.

Fair enough but just because you don’t agree with someone doesn’t mean it’s okay to insult them was my grievance. Apologies if I came across as harsh. ❤️

Nah you’re fine and I appreciate this message. I understand where you’re coming from, and I didn’t really intend to insult anyone, but I did feel RIchards post was rather insulting towards MJ. But it is what it is. It’s all good pal.👍

Like, Beyonce came much later and simply jumped on the bandwagon. The only ones of any note were Elvis and James Brown. Maybe Aretha Franklin. And it's as though Michael looked at Elvis, got jealous, and decided to do his own self-proclamation. Honestly, it's very childish. Oh wait - let me rephrase that in a way that won't trigger people as much... it's very childlike.

When I first noticed it was in about 92 when Michael Jordan said it. That really struck me as being unexpected and out of character. He was unquestionably saying that because he was told to. It was part of the marketing machine.

In looking ahead to 93, that was a time where Michael needed all the support and goodwill that he could get. He didn't need unnecessary ego trouble getting in the way.

But anyway, it's off-topic, and I won't spend the next 3 pages arguing about this.

Hopefully we see similar events in different cities all over the world , London , LA , Tokyo etc
Back to what I was saying before - the success of the movie has zero impact on me, that's why I don't care one way of the other. I'm not rooting for Branca to get a bigger bank balance, lol.

I retain the right to like whatever. I'm not a MJ fan because other people like him. That's definitely the wrong reason. I'm a MJ fan because I like listening to his music - no other reason. As a fan, I will listen to songs I like, and I won't listen to songs I don't like. Similarly, I won't watch movies I don't like. That's all part of having free will. And just because somebody is making a movie about a person/songs I like, that doesn't mean the movie will be good.

But it seems like some people are more interested in being MJ publicists rather than being MJ fans. I wonder why these people don't evangelize their favorite butter company or train company, yet they spend every waking moment trying to guilt people into giving money to an arbitrary music company.

Berlin is preparing for a major moment this spring as the international premiere of the Michael biopic, the film celebrating the life of Michael Jackson, will take place in the German capital on April 10, 2026. But this will be far more than a traditional red-carpet screening. The premiere is set to launch several days of fan events and celebrations connected to the film.

Producer Graham King revealed the news during the Munich Film Week, with distributor Universal Pictures confirming that actors and members of the filmmaking team are expected to attend the Berlin event. The city will serve as the starting point for a global spotlight moment around the film.

More Than Just a Premiere

Berlin’s premiere is shaping up to become an international meeting point for Michael Jackson fans. Organizers are planning multiple days of fan-focused activities and special events surrounding the screening, creating an atmosphere that goes well beyond a single movie night.

Universal Pictures Germany has already begun building anticipation on social media, sharing a graphic announcing the “Michael Global Fan Celebration — Berlin, Germany. April 10. Details to follow.” The message makes it clear that more programming and appearances will be revealed soon.

A Festival Atmosphere for Fans

With fans expected to travel from across Europe and beyond, Berlin could transform into a celebration hub for the King of Pop’s legacy. Fan gatherings, themed activities, and community-driven moments are likely to accompany the premiere, giving supporters a chance to connect and celebrate together.

As anticipation grows, all eyes now turn to Berlin. April 10 will mark not only an important night for cinema, but also the beginning of a special global fan experience, right in the heart of Germany’s capital.

I don't think that Michael proclaiming himself the King of Pop is vain or narcissistic, that's the minimum to describe what he did for pop music and culture as a whole on a global scale.

people like Elvis Preasley can be given the title of King of Rock'n'Roll despite not having brought forward nothing of his own intellect or of his own creativity, and by stealing from actual Black Genius (like Little Richard) but Michael can't be the King of Pop? that's his legacy.

and considering how hard the media tried and still tries to take that title from him i wouldn't expect fans, of all the people, talking down on him for it. To me actually, King doesn't even begin to describe what Michael represents for pop music.

but anyways, back on topic.

Excuse me, but this is obviously wrongful information. Michael was not called KoP in 92 for the first time, nor was it Michael Jordan who did it for the first time nor was it Michael himself.

Yes, i really do hope that its not just Berlin that get the first premiere and also London maybe other english counties as well , Manchester, Birmngham, Liverpool etc. If not and its only Capital's then London! With oppotunties of fans attending! Not just celebs etc. Some of the so called english celebs now adays where in nappies when Michael needed their support plus some artists turned there back on him! As the song goes! Will you be there?? I was , and i know a lot of long standing loyal fans who followed or should i say ran around London when he was here. I miss those days so much! Mind you at 60 years of age now i think i might br a bit slower now lol. I was his *beatlesboy*

Glad the promo starting, plus will the grammys rumour/superbowl full trailer be correct? I hope the Grammys one is as to have s full tribute.

When will this hater be silenced?
When will he be stopped spreading fake news?
When his trolling will be stopped?

It’s clear as day, that the press started calling MJ the „KOP“.
And way before 92 at that!
And RIGHTFULLY so!

It was NOT MJ himself, nor Elizabeth T. nor someone else!
