The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Snakepit comes out of nowhere. Odd title and also wasn't on any of Bill's notes either. I bet who ever provided this info (DiLeo?) gave that title as a joke.
maybe it's just a work title that hasn't been updated on track sheets, tape boxes etc - similar how Hot Fever was kept until final sequencing of Bad album.

Its probably a working title for another song. Wanna talk odd titles? Scream-O-Blaster. Its prolly a working title as well

It's authenticity could be proven by how this article is from June 1987 and Bill's notes stop after mid-January.

I would think that, but at that point every song on the album had their final titles. Even Just Good Friends didn't change much. So my belief is that it was a song from outside writers that got started pretty late yet became abandoned when it couldn't stack up to Man In The Mirror and Just Good Friends (same reason I believe Groove of Midnight got discarded as well).

Teddy talks about "Joy" after 27:30

At 31:30, he says, “I threw another shot. ‘Can we use the vocals?’ [MJ said,] ‘Sure.’” So not only DID MJ record the song, but (according to him) some of his background vocals are on the Blackstreet recording. Interesting.

This has been well known for a long time, Michael is very clearly audible on the Blackstreet recording of the song during the background harmonies (and they're very beautiful at that)
