Invincible 25th Anniversary

What did he write?
He brought in Carlos Santana, came up with the whistling idea, got a choir, and did the arrangement - that was all him. He’s also the one who decided to add thank you line to Carlos at the end. Is that really not enough to be credited as a co-writer?

Thank you, man

So he should be credited as an arranger since the song was already written. If we're being real, isn't that what Michael did to Greg for DSTUGE?

He got it from the ad-libs, and he changed the first line of the song.
Also, MJ took the song to another level ( the vocals, guitar solos, the rythm, etc.).
An ad-lib isn't a writers credit. The first line of the song is the same, no?

Him bringing in extra instruments should fall under an arrangement and he shouldn't be top billing as a writer.

We don't need Sony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Invincible with a bonus disc.
We already have it:

Hollywood Tonight
The Way You Love Me
Another Day
In The Back
Shout
Beautiful Girl
She Was Loving Me
Fall Again
A Place With No Name
Blue Gangsta
We've Had Enough
Xscape
Wasnt fall again on the esstinal mj collection ??

Do you think it’s possible that Michael originally struggled to reach an agreement with the songwriters over co-writing credits?

It’s just that the song is missing from the June 2001 tracklist, which is really strange! It’s one of the best tracks, and it was fully completed by February 2001. Why wouldn't Michael plan to include it in the album from the start...

Could it have been because of the authorship rights?

YAML wasn't on the June list either as they were still configuring the album but it's very possible WH was in limbo with writing credits and the writers finally gave in and gave Michael credit.

Whatever Happens as a second single+ a minimal World tour would have sold twice as much the album.
It is believed than a tour and Its inherents benefits ( more money, so more singles, more budget for videos, free promotion by the press and various medias, etc.) account for 40% of the album sales.
Just look at the BOTDF sales in Europe, It sold a little bit better there (!) than Invincible, and that was thanks to the tour.
In fact, both albums did roughly the same numbers Worldwide, besides Invincible sold 1,5 millions more in the US.

It’s my first time seeing someone include Heartbreaker in a Michael Jackson playlist!

I think there should be more compilations like this. It helps the general public realize that Michael has so many great songs beyond just Billie Jean and Man In The Mirror - like Heartbreaker, Butterflies, Speechless and so on

I always wonder what song would have been the opener for the invincible tour. Bad had WBSS. Dangerous had Jam. HIStory had Scream. I can't think of a banger song from that album which would have had the same effect like the other ones had to amaze the crowd and rise adrenaline. Or he just could have went back to WBSS to open the concert. But I dont think this would have happened. I believe he certainly would have included WBSS, as he really liked this song, looking back at the other tours he did.

He probably would've performed maybe 5 songs from the album.....Invincible, You Rock My World, Butterflies, Speechless and Threatened comes to mind

Probably an Unbreakable/Heartbreaker/Invincible medley.
