100 North Carolwood Contents to go on sale - Julien's 17 December 2011

I'm wondering if this was the price the estate had to pay to get the 'death bed' out of the auction - juliens and the owners were clearly hoping that the bed wd bring in the big bucks, not appreciating the unsavoury nature of what they were selling. I'm just not sure, it's not typical of the estate to agree to this - they're usually more classy, which is why i was surprised as they clearly hold the rights to mj's name and likeness and cd distance mj from this.

actually "death bed" was never on the auction. LAPD had the mattress as evidence. It has the headboard they were selling. but people were confusing head board with the bed. people didn't freak out about the rug but that's the place where the paramedics worked on MJ for 40 minutes.

Actually, I dont quite agree with the sicko comment, they're idiots too, since none of this even belonged to Michael. Again, WHY did fans agreed to partake in this???

i am beyond happy that the auction didn't turn out a big success...no matter how Juliens is spinning it in the media ..under a million for 550+ pieces he desperately "tried" to link to Michael Jackson is a huge fail.

I am glad people did not fall for his crap. These were NOT MJ's belongings. Whoever bought these pieces as an investment, good luck re-selling them 20/30 years from now without an obvious tie or link (like a picture of MJ sitting on the couch lol) to MJ.

And for the fans who went there bringing gifts for a makeshift bed.....you are all a bunch of nuts. Stop embarrassing the fan base.

Do these fools realise it was a rented house so none of the stuff was mjs anyway .

They had to make it MJ related to sell it. Anything for a buck.

Can Julien's Auctions be in trouble with the rental company for selling this stuff if the items did not belong to Michael?

I still do not get how they could sell items that did not belong to Michael? Isn't that technically selling stolen goods?

I think fans must have been mainly interested in the small pieces (like table lamps and ornaments) just as mementoes.....a lot of the larger pieces of furniture did seem to sell very cheaply...I was amazed that a 'grand piano' (maybe a baby grand?) sold for only $1900 plus commission. Anyone who wanted to furnish a house with large sofas etc could have found some amazing pieces for $500-600 ...I wished I was living in the USA as I might have been tempted by some of the beautiful furniture.....essentially it is just 'second-hand goods' and as others have posted, has very little meaningful connection to Michael.

The implications of the 'the rug', however, hadn't occurred to me before... I can't imagine a more 'unhappy' item to own.

I get the feeling the owners dont really care. Looks to me they are using mj too cuz if they cared 4 mj they would say "this stuff does not belong to mj at all and should not be associated with him" IMO

Of course the owners are cashing in on the connection regardless of the stuff not belonging to mj. they a relaying on the facts the things were in that house at that time. not that they were actually mjs

I had this conversation with qbee upthread. If there was confusion, it was shared by mr julian as he was on video (i posted it on p2)talking about the bed which would be the topselling item because of its historical significance - no talk of just a headboard. Hadn't realised the mattress was with lapd, maybe julians didn't either.

Mercifully julians didn't make much out of the rug's significance although i think unfortunately it cd be that they didn't see the opportunity rather than down to matters of taste.

Who on earth would pay $5k for the blackboad? I hope we never find out.

*Over the weekend, the contents from Michael Jackson’s home were auctioned off, totaling to over more than $1 million, blowing the pre-auction estimates out the water.

Organizers estimated that everything would go for between $200,000 and $400,000.

Among the things that sold was a kitchen chalkboard where Jackson’s children wrote “I love daddy,” which sold for $5000. An armoire on which the singer wrote a message to himself on the mirror brought in $25,750.

Other items included furniture, artwork and other household objects.

The headboard to Jackson’s bed was listed to sell, but at the request of his family, the object was removed from the auction.

However, the rug that was beneath his bed sold for over $15,000.

The auction was one not to miss. Auction organizer Darren Julien recreated the mansion inside the Beverly Hills showroom and invited fans to visit. Mourners and fans left items and gifts for the family.

“Michael Jackson has the greatest fans in the world. I can see why he lived for them,” Julien said. “They came out every day this week to bring gifts. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen as it relates to a celebrity and their fans.”

"Among the things that sold was a kitchen chalkboard where Jackson’s children wrote “I love daddy,” ": should never have been sold

"Mourners and fans left items and gifts for the family. They came out every day this week to bring gifts" : major facepalm. No MJ fan should give this guy any publicity. Beats me.

Got an old bathroom rug I was about to throw away, but who knows, maybe it comes from 2300 Jackson street too... Ppfff, people.

Katherine: "Joe, you get back to gary right now and put those cupboards back!"

you made me..lol...with this one. what a shame this whole situation is...everybody trying to make a nickel off of ANYTHING that Might be the slightest related to Michael....it if wasn't so sad...it would be almost comical.

Okay, this is kinda late, but this question has been lingering in my head ever since I heard of the auction. How did Julien's auction off the items that were in Michael house? Didn't Michael own everything in the house? So wouldn't everything just go to his children and his family? How can a random company just barge into someone's former home and sell the former owner's belongings? Since Michael owned all the things in that house, they were still his, meaning after his death, they should have gone directly to whoever was named in his will...so who gave this company the right to sell Michael's things? I'm confused.

The house was rented he didnt own the furnishings. the owner of the house sold the stuff

Sometimes I wonder... who is actually buying this stuff? Is it us the fans, or rich losers who just want a piece of the pie to say they've got it?

ROANOKE, Va.—
From Tinseltown to the Star City.

Furniture from Michael Jackson's home has arrived in Roanoke.

Grand Home Furnishings purchased some special furniture at an estate auction in December.

The armoire and other items belonged to Jackson.

The shipment arrived by truck this morning.

It included a mirror with a hand-written message by Jackson to himself.

It reads, "Train, perfection, March, April, full out May."

The motivational reminder refers to Jackson's preparation for a London tour that was in the planning stages when he died.

"We were really excited about it coming," said Grand Vice President Robert Bennett. "It's been traveling all the way from Los Angeles. We bought it in December and it's been a long anticipated month.

"It's a part of history and we're just glad to be able to share it with everybody."

All of the furniture will be unveiled to the public on Saturday morning at Grand's Valley View store at 10:15 a.m.

^Well, we have our answer - a furniture store, to be used as a publicity gimmick.
