April 15, 2008: Michael Jackson News and Mentionings

I knew Melville wouldn't go there with Michael this time.

And this article says that he has dismissed the case. I wonder if the writer is jumping the gun and meant to say that Michael has been dismissed from the case?

Yep. Michael has been fully dismissed from the lawsuit but the hospital is still a defendant. A case management conference between the family and the hospital is set for early June.

I keep thinking T25 would have hit number if there were enough copies in the stores originally. This way it just got spread out over more weeks. lol
Me too. That is why I was quite upset that time when I found out that people couldn't get the cd in their shops. Now nobody remembers that it was so out of stock all over the place. What a history that would have made.:)

(Note that this may or may not have much to do with the Neverland issue, but it at least indicates that something is going on behind the scenes).

Release of Certificate of Tax Lien Against Jackson's Property

Approximately one year ago on April 20, 2007, the Santa Barbara County Treasurer and Tax Collector filed a $13,300+ certificate of tax lien against any real/unsecured property that Michael Jackson owns. As of April 15, 2008, the certificate of lien has been released according to county records. No further details are available at this time. In early February, a $609,500+ state tax lien against Neverland was also released, indicating that the matter had been resolved. A public auction of Neverland Valley Ranch is still scheduled for May 14, 2008, but Michael Jackson has up until that point to resolve the debt. According to L. Londell McMillan, Michael Jackson has been looking into the options of either refinancing or selling the property prior to the May 14th date of public auction.

It seems as if the county was trying desparately to claw back some of the money they wasted trying MJ, through MJ's property. So it is obvious that they were still harassing him.

I think that if they had a real case against Michael Jackson, then he wouldn't have been dropped. I don't think that Melville did this out of kindess; it was most likely that his lawyers found several loopholes out of the lawsuit and discrepancies in the family's case.

Michael can claim this on this taxes. So he will get in back in a tax break. So he is not giving them nothing if he is claiming it on his taxes.

If tax lien was released does it mean it was paid and everything is fine?

yes its means its been pulled so the taxes have been paid or some arrangement has been made. if they have all been paid its another example of how maybe mj wants to keep the ranch.no reason to pay the leins if you are going to let the property go. but even if he wants to keep it it still comes down to may 14th and whether he can get credit b4 then

it looks like its taxes that mj owes like anyone else does. nothing to say its harassment at all imo. dont pay your taxes you get liens against you

swear i had read somewhere that he was gonna retire :mello:I am quite sure I read that to...

i think it said he was standing down form the criminal bench but would still do money chasing cases

You know now I'm thinking, that MJ "might" have been purposely waiting for AFTER April 15th to clear up the Neverland matter.

In America, yesterday was the deadline for filing our taxes. Although I'm not sure, BUT being in foreclosure could afford a person some type of tax write-off. As I said, I'm not sure, but I do know that their is a HUGE handbook as to what you can write-off as far as your taxes go.

Maybe, just maybe, there was some type of method to this whole Neverland thing. Who knows for sure, I'm just guessing at this point.

U know big apple, i think u might have a good point there!

it was sneddon that was set to retire. the only thing 'new' happening to drunkie was that he was to go back to civil court. remember, he was brought in for mj's case cuz all the good ol' boy judges they wanted had fulldockets & it was either mel or sneddon & co. hater diana hall.
