A multi-institutional team of environmental scientists and physical limnologists has found that there may be a scientific explanation for Jesus' "miraculous catch of fish"—one that does not involve miracles.
You know what's sad about this...? I think that all of us human beings just want to feel loved, protected. We all have our "inner child" inside who wanted to be loved then and he/she still wants this now. We are really still that child, even if we grow up and become taller. Religious people and atheist people actually want the "same thing", we all want to feel part of something. The problem is that many religious ones wants to let others be religious too (and for the same God they believe in, of course), while many atheist people are so tired of this and they are trying to find another way. I am trying to find another way. We really need to "start from the man in mirror", because we are the human beings living this world. Human beings are the ones who abuse, or the ones who become depressed or angry, or also "obsessively religious". We really need to start from the inside, that's my religion.
Being a believer is probably similar to being a drug addict. Logic doesn't help addicts.
Hi bluemoonThe memes here are obviously aimed at religious extremists / religious fundamentalism.
Not all Christians are fundamentalists or evangelical. Religious extremism / fundamentalism is violent and I truly don't understand it![]()
This thread is not an atheist thread, but just obsessed with bashing religion, focussing on Christianity.
Weird ... fighting against a God, even being ANGRY about a God that they don't believe in anyway. Which is perfectly fine. I just don't understand all that rage here lol.

Some people can't handle the truthThe meme that Michael's Lover post about world hunger is very strong and true.
This thread is not an atheist thread...
There's a super heavy "compendium" (it's videos but I didn't find a more appropriate word) of claims targeting Islam about which I hope to someday get/find a point of view of moderate Muslims... The issue is that it requires to understand French and there are hours and hours of video...., focussing on Christianity.![]()
[...] Regarding the memes themselves, yeah I find them uselessly harsh/blind/redundant sometimes...
Many carry some truth though. [...]
Hello @unfioredarancio , I really love your thoughts in this post.Hi bluemoon![]()
Yes, you make a good point here, in imo!Actually, you are also right, not all religious people are extremists, but I want to explain you how I feel about it.
I was raised by a religious mom. She is christian, and she is a loving mom and person. She respects every other religion, she is kind to everyone, she doesn't want to convert anyone. Of course, she thinks her religion is the true one, but someone may think that I was raised by the perfect example of a not-extremist person.
But, you know, extremists are not only the ones who could kill for a God...
Growing up I felt something, I looked to my mom and to the other religious people I know in a different way. I felt like, first of all, the majority of them were just raised to believe in that specific God, based on the specific area they were born. Many people found peace in religion, they found the love and the protection they deserved when they were children. And this is not a "problem", but... For so many religious people (I don't want to say for every one) religion is a "veil" on their eyes to be distracted, to don't feel the pain they feel, to not look inside themselves, and (sad but true) to don't feel the pain someone else is feeling.
The meme that Michael's Lover post about world hunger is very strong and true.
Also, I can say I'm not an atheist maybe, because I feel the godness in mother nature that is around us, all the time. If we just look around us for a while we can notice that nature is alive.
I love what you say here! Especially the bolded.Religious people believe in a "human-shaped" God, you know. And that's because, in my opinion, humans are scared to die and they have to feel that they are the most important creatures here... But we are not...
We are actually like the other animals, the trees and the plants. Maybe we are the ones who won't survive to climate changes, while some other animals will. I may sound silly but it's what I believe in, because nature is alive.
Religions are mostly focused on human beings, and that's because they were created for them. I would say they were created to "shape" them.
Maybe people wanted religion to make them feel less lonely at the beginning, but actually they turned out to be less aware...
lol, yes. The thread would explode.I felt the same, though I'm not sure if the thread would go far is we had actual debate-type discussions.
Also, feel free to open a "Does God exist?" thread and let's bet on how fast it crashes.
