Berlin 10th of April Michael celebration

Gerne mal verlinken.

That also came to my mind, thinking about what the reason for the cancelation might have been. They might just be trying to prevent certain things when it comes to negative atmosphere at the event. Who knows.

They clearly didn’t do their homework.

I’m almost never at events — I’ve only been to two: Thriller 3D and the musical premiere. And when I was there, I spoke very positively about both (in public videos/podcasts), because they were genuinely great experiences.

It’s not like I showed up to spread negativity — quite the opposite, honestly.

We had even arranged to meet a lot of listeners from our MJ podcast today.. they were actually disappointed that we didn’t end up going tonight.

Branca did not invite any of the team on MJJC, this community is the worlds most popular and active Michael Jackson community yet we mean nothing to them. And no I would not have gone, instead I would have opened it up to someone here. You guys are what makes this community, not me.

John was the only one who had 4 guests with him even the Jacksons had only 1-2,guests by the way knows somebody in which hotel he is staying?

Hi everyone, I was one of the lucky few who received an invite to attend the premiere.

Flights and hotel were not included, and it wasn't until I arrived that I realized you had to register separately for the other events held throughout the weekend. So, I only saw the film in IMAX yesterday. The visuals and sound were breathtaking.

The movie itself? Disappointing. The costumes and attention to detail? They clearly tried their best. We’re living in 2026, yet the CGI they used isn't top tier. MJ’s hair was inaccurate more often than not. The trailer definitely cherry-picked the best moments.

I felt the story was lacking; you don’t really get to know Michael. I appreciated that they moved quickly through the Jackson 5 era, but the entire movie felt like a sequence of music videos stitched together. This was the opportunity to let the audience get to know Michael and what he was up against. Instead, the film is packed with clichés that any casual fan already knows. The picture and sound were fantastic, but that’s about all I can say for it.

It felt like I was watching an impersonator. Even Jaafar made a few moves that weren't quite "Michael-esque," which only made me realize there will never be anyone like him again.

This movie is clearly intended for the new generation. And I find myself completely agreeing with Paris Jackson.

Kinda what I expected, but was hoping they show more about the "real" Michael, not just the artist.

Still excited to hear his music over the speakers and all the visuals 🤩. I have to wait til April 27th, ugh 😩

Thanks for your honest review!

I have a very good feeling about Jaafar, but I think it is also telling that two of the closest women to Michael, Paris and Janet, chose to not join the premiere or even have distanced themselves from the movie. (EDIT: and I haven´t heard about Rebbie or LaToya either, did they attend the premiere?)

I am looking forward to seeing the movie, though.

After sleeping over it for a night and calming down from the hype I get what you’re saying. There were definitely some important things that were missing or just briefly touched upon.

But then again, the movie is 2 hours. You can’t tell that whole story and all it’s nuances in a movie because it would he 15 hours long. I do think Jaafar did great tho, he isn’t Michael, but he was the closest I’ve ever seen anyone come to him and his acting wasn’t cringe. It was actually good when I sat there.

What you should expect from the movie is mostly a celebration of his music, with some in dept moments. But just hearing the music coming through the speakers was amazing and there are lots of songs in there that weren’t on the soundtrack (and quite a few I never in a 100 years expected to hear)

Also, this makes me more excited for part 2, because that’s where they should really dive deep into his character, emotions and what happened in his personal life. Part 1 definitely builds up to that part 2

Maybe a weird question, but was the movie shown in its orinal audio or dubbed in German or with German subtitles? I would guess original audio but since the premiere was in Bööörlin ..... lol

EDIT: I actually would prefer to watch the original audio myself and hopefully a movie theatre in my area will screen the original movie.

original, no subtitles for me in the large room. But there were multiple different screens with subtitles. No dubbed screenings iirc

On a positive note, it was great to hear the Wembley audio in a new mix. It sounded bigger than the CD or DVD audio. I also think they dubbed the audio with additional instruments, especially during the Victory Tour.

But for most fans, this movie is just a string of songs. To me, the most important deep dive into Michael’s life was left out; it only touched on topics that are already well-known. I was hoping to get to know Michael better. Also, the acting was very minimal. While Joe Jackson’s performance was great, there was a lack of depth regarding his persona and how his own background influenced the way he raised his children. It’s a shame. This movie would have been an amazing opportunity to really gain insight into the characters. Too little acting, too much music.
