this may offend other songwriters, but once Michael got ahold of someone else's song, Michael became the writer of it, by proxy. The magic was exclusive to him. That's just the way it is. I've heard some of these songs, when the writer or someone else tried to perform them...that's how i know. therefore, i pick most of them, with Man in the Mirror and...cry and others right up there.
