Biggest white Music Act ever in the Black Community ever

Lisa Stansfield
Wham!/George Michael
Average White Band
Rare Earth
Culture Club
Doobie Brothers/Michael McDonald
Beastie Boys
KC and the Sunshine Band (although technically a black band with a white singer)
Elvis' early music was popular on the "race" charts.
Agree
I really love rare earth there one of my favorite bands. I also would add Teena Marie and Bee Gees.

I have never ever in my whole life heard the beastie boys on a black radio station. never. George Michael was big. Robin thicke more so than Justin. Teena Marie was huge. Jon B was huge (and mighty fine I might add) I've even heard New Kids on the black staions.

The Beasties were played on black radio in the southern USA. Even today, the hip hop station still play License To Ill tracks during their "Classic Old School" program. In the 1980s, black stations where I lived even occasionally played acts like Sheena Easton, Tears For Fears, Madonna, Phil Collins, Depeche Mode, Level 42, Duran Duran, Howard Jones, Falco, and the Pet Shop Boys. They also played stuff like Lady by Kenny Rogers, Sailing & Ride Like The Wind by Christopher Cross, and Steal Away by Robbie Dupree. I also remember Steely Dan & The Eagles being played, especially Hey Nineteen & I Can't Tell You Why. Miss You and Harlem Shuffle by the Rolling Stones were also heavily played.

Oh, I understand. I am from the midwest. Michigan actually. That is probably why I did not hear.

Simply Red was somewhat popular in the 1980s. Joss Stone gets some airplay too.

In a year that’s seen the death of Phife Dawg, Prince and David Bowie, yet another legendary musician has died unexpectedly. Just this morning (Dec. 25), George Michael passed away at the age of 53, and the music world lost one of its brightest talents.

Billboard reports the singer died due to heart failure. His publicist provided a statement about Michael’s passing. “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period. The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage,” the statement reads.

Michael has been described as a post-disco artist, but the shadow of his influence stretches all the way to the rap game. AZ’s Nas collaboration “Time” sampled the late singer’s song, “Careless Whisper,” while Slim Thug’s “Miss Mary” used the Symphonica creator’s track “A Moment With You.”

With that in mind, George Michael’s untimely death has already sent some shock waves through the world of hip-hop. Shortly after news began to spread, Questlove let the world know just how upset he was with a succinct, but heartfelt tweet. “I don’t have it in me anymore to write about our greats. I just knew one day I’d get to work with #GeorgeMichael. Sad Christmas,” The Roots member tweeted.

Joe Budden shared a similar sentiment, tweeting out a simple “SMH,” before saying, “RIP George Michael.” Meanwhile, 9th Wonder tweeted out a picture of a younger George Michael for his Twitter tribute.

I hear some of Adele's songs on the Adult R&B station. Also Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton.
