Bravo Magazine article from '93- Good, easy read

*waitin for somebody to say that the article is not accurate. lol*

To be correct, the article can be not accurate on certain points.

Author at time may be going too easily on judgments on Jackson, considering limit time and access he had to him; other times there could be more or less slight exaggerations of stories or attitude. Those are usual concerns about basically any worded evidence/memoirs.

We do not have to take those stories literally.

My friend sent me some more quotes, so I thought I'd post them here as well. Again, some of the sentence structure isn't perfect, but you'll get the idea and most of them are in perfect english. There is also a quote from a young man from Russia who posted on the board these quotes are from, which is pretty amazing and shows the actual reach of Michael's postive and massive impact on the world. It shows he's much bigger then show business. The site is www.mjfriendship.de. Hope you guys enjoy these as well.

"[…] The day before, a jury cleared Michael Jackson and another absurd celebrity trial collapsed. We ‘celebrities’ live in Reality Shows these days. I was pleased Michael was cleared. My only experience of his dealings with children is that he has unselfishly helped every cause, and individual child, I have sent his way. In one case he hired a circus for the Down’s Syndrome children of a special school of the daughter of a friend of mine, and showed up to happily, and — yes — in childlike enthusiasm — watch the show with them.

This little girl believed she was Michael’s future wife, and he so kindly allowed her to sit next to him, as his future bride.

His feathers may be badly burned, and he may be damaged in other ways too, but he is something of an angel. […]"

Pete Townshend (The Who), june, 22th 2005

"You could offer me all the money in the world and yet I wouldn’t like to be in his shoes. I would turn 3 billion Dollars down. There’s nothing in the world for what I’d be willing to take over his problems."

Babyface, 1995

"I think its cool um… but I think there’s a lot of people out there trying to judge Michael when they have no idea what its like to be a child star at 9 and to not have a life… and the same time, you can’t take away all the accomplishments in music that he’s brought to this game. Period! There is nothing else to be said!"

Nelly

"I definately can’t relate to what Michael is going through because I was not a star from five years old. I was unkown until the mid twenties and that’s far easier than what that man went through. My journey is a normal one he has been a super mega amazing star invaded through his whole life. I can’t imagine what that is like. I also can’t imagine being someone who is so sweet and sometimes all they want to do is find out scandal about you. He’s really just a nice guy and he would just love to be a happy person and smile all the time and all they want to do is call him things and he has to recline into his shell."

Anastacia, 2002

Question: "Joa now… Deja Vu… big record right now! How you’re feeling about it?"
Beyoncé: "I love it! I love the record. I loved it from the first time I heard it because it had a lot of instruments and it’s not many songs in the radio with a lot of bass, lot of horns and a lot of trumpets… and I was happy because it feels like an old Michael Jackson record who I love and respect and I’m happy that everybodyelse is enjoying the record."

Beyoncé Knowels, Juli 2006

"Not only do I think that he is highly intelligent but also outstandingly educated. …
He is extremely beautiful, fragile and totally unearthly. I always had the feeling that he is not standing on the floor but slightly floating on air. Michael Jackson knows that he appears like that on others and he also knows how to employ it."

Gottfried Helnwein, austian-irish artist

"I am convinced that Michael Jackson is innocent. If I didn’t think that, I wouldn’t say it. Jackson isn’t able of doing something like that. I have spent ten years to study his life, I have interviewed many people, but never ever have I found the slightest evidence for pedophile tendencies. On the contrary: I have constantly seen his cooks, chambermaids, gardeners and chauffeurs demanding 10 000 pounds for an interview. As a biographer, I have followed the life of many other stars, but no one is surrounded by such a large number of vultures as Mr. Jackson. Jackson is surrounded by people who would sell their own mother for a couple of thousand dollars."

"All this stuff about Michael being a weirdo - it’s a pile of goddam […] I’ve recorded a whole lot of these pop-musicians and this guy’s the straightest of the goddam lot."

Bruce Swedien, engineer

"Michael’s a natural. He’s a vers hard worker and a super performer. But most of all he’s a real human being."

Stevie Wonder

"I care for Michael but I don’t worry about him. I think sometimes that he’s got angels on his shoulders to protect him.
He spends a lot of time — too much — by himself. I try to get him out. I rented a boat and took my children and Michael on a cruise and he loved it. He has so many people around him but he’s still afraid, especially to be alone at night. I don’t know why but he’s always been very cut off and distanced. When you get to be a star from age six and never knew any normal teenage life, when you were just used to the limousines and the tour buses, I guess it is understandable."

Diana Ross

"Michael has always been isolated. I’d go to his house and there always 30 girls outside all the time. They even got in the house. One day there was one lying out by the pool, nobody knew who she was. I think she was the inspiration for ‘Billie Jean’. Michael just said, 'It’s been like that all my life.'"

Quincy Jones

"Control is a big issue for Michael. There’s a lot of anxiety for him about how it’s got to be and how to control it. Once he got there, we saw the side of Michael that I’ve seen and everybody who knows him falls in love with, the side that’s very sweet and wonderful. That’s the side that came out once we got him in there without any managers or lawyers or anybody else."

"He treats you the way that what you are doing would be as important as what he is doing himself. He respects his fellows as they’d be artists themselves. In no way Michael is arrogant!"

Source: Jill Klien, Californian stylist, 1983

"I have seen Michael Jackson for the first time in Duisburg, on stage of ‘Wetten Dass’. His music only interested me marginally, therefore I was quite calm while standing next to the lifting ramp on which Jackson was supposed to sing ‘Earth Song’. But that was to change within the next eight minutes. I felt Jackson before I saw him. You feel such a presence/aura within a human being only a few times in life. His music hit me like a hammer, his voice hit me like light. The man is a carnal experience, such as pain or overwhelming joy."

Source: Christian Marks, Michael’s biographer, 2001

"Michael is different, but not in anyway strange. He is different in the way, every human being should be different. Michael is a generous, honest, and sensitive human being, filled with amazing insight and the capacity for love. If this is weird, I want to go live on another planet. I love him too."

Source: Karen Faye (Michael’s Makeup-artist for more than 20 years), 2003

"If I see at a kiosk which trash the filthy press writes about Michael, I get really sad. Some people buy it and even believe it. On a shopping-tour I had to read the headlines. They not even could write my name, to say nothing of the story!"

Dr. A. Klein, Dermatologist in Hollywood, 1993

"He is the best man I ever met. He is always warm, soft, open-hearted and worries about everyone — as good as you can be. And that 24 hours a day! You wouldn’t believe that this is possible.
I am not a fan of him. I don’t even have one of his CDs at home. I do this job for 20 years now, but never in my life I met someone like him… I love him. I would do everything for him. To me he’s… a saint."

Source: personal comment of a bodyguard to an FttF-team-member, 2000

"Michael is one of the nicest people I know. He only looks for the good in people. He is very charming, and has a wonderful sense of humor. He is a very kind and gentle man. He is a sponge for knowledge. Michael is a perfectionist and will not quit until its right in his eyes. He can also be tough, but he is always fair in my opinion."

Source: Frank Dileo (in the 1980s Michael’s manager),

"He’s what the French call a 'monstre sacre', a 'holy monster' - someone who is absolutely unique."

Gregory Peck, actor (in memoriam)

"One can feel the urge, the need to give, coming from within him. He is such a pure and true person. … It’s my deepest, most heartfelt conviction that Michael Jackson is a good person, a fine young man with an incredible burden - responsibility - to carry on his shoulders."

Marcel Marceau, mime

"The first time I heard his voice in the radio when I was driving my car. It electrified me at once: This is an angel, an angel! I hardly screamed it out. This unbelievable strong vibration - it was a very highly developed soul! … Unfortunate most people cannot see the spiritual light of a person - but who could see Michael Jackson’s light would fall down to his knees."

Don Pedro von Hellmann, spiritual teacher & author, 2003,

"When I see him dance and sing, it touches me, like a spirit; it moves me inside, sort of like the Holy Ghost. But it's more than singing and dancing; he manages to touch your soul."

Isiah Lord Thomas III, American former professional basketball player and coach, currently the president of basketball operations for the NBA’s New York Knicks

"I had to listen to 'Speechless' about 50 times before I was able to continuously follow him on this emotional level where he already is all the time! Many people will not even understand this …"

M. Assheuer-Steiger, psychologist/educationalist, 2002

"He's got something touching…"
Gerhard Schröder, 1995 (German prime minister, federal Chancellor)

Quote from poster:

..... „You were right about everything that you wrote. People don't have any mercy. I can say that I'm in same situation like Mr. Michael Jackson. Only my friends can understand me but I'm not sure even in this. I just write this massage because I want to say "thank you" to a man who really saved my life. This man - Mr. Michael Jackson. My story is simple. I wanted to become a terrorist. I don't like people and never did for their hatred to things, which they are can not understood. I was a racist, I don't like children, I don't like Mr. Michael Jackson because of his race. But when I have listen "Heal the world" something happened with me. I still don't know what but I have changed. I understood how bad I was. And how many terrible things I could do. And who am I now? I'm trying to stop this terror in the world. And what? People thinks that I'm crazy. Maybe they are right. All that I know that only one organization interested in such people like me. For all others I just a crazy. Maybe I'm crazy because I want to stop this nightmare but who knows how bad I could be?! And only one man changed it. This man - Mr. Michael Jackson. I calling him Mr. Michael Jackson because I'm very respect him and very appreciate all that he have done for me. I'm not his fan but I'll do everything to support and protect him. You are free to think everything about me but in this massage I wanted to say that Mr. Michael Jackson are very good person and not all people don't understand him. Maybe there are more like me. I just wanted to say "Thank you" to a man who understands Mr. Michael Jackson. And I also wanted to say "THANK YOU" to Mr. Michael Jackson. You saved my life and maybe more lives. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU, SIR. I just want you to know that you are doing very much for this world.
P.S.: sorry for my english. „

Here's also some pictures she sent me which are kind of obscure. Plus a couple I thought I'd just add on my own, the last two of Michael with Tatiana, from "TWYMMF". Michael looks funny as hell in his water gear, lol.

Thanks to WBSS21 for those additional quotes; some of them are very concrete and powerful.

Unfortunately, none of those quotes will be actually known by common people and what people will still read is "worldwide bestseller" JRTaraborrelli and the likes on how is Jackson PR obsessed calculator and such.

Though I am fan of Jackson for a long time, I am still amazed at some of his personal qualities which are totally beyond how much good as person I could ever be.

Even though I consider myself "kind" and "good", there is simply no way how I can imagine being that kind and that good as Michael is. No wonder many people who personally know him talk about "angel" phenomenon.

Nothing tells that Jackson is perfect, but his unique qualities are just "larger than life" thing and are even maybe as big or bigger than all of his artistry.

Do you know what would be nice? Instead of writng to these people who write these terrible articles about MJ, Why not create a nice package of quotes and post them to them. Have a collection of quotes from fans and celebs and post them to these fools.:D

such a lot of beautiful quotes..thank you so much for them.

and the pictures...those are some rare treasures..never seen the water suit ones...funny!

Yes, maybe no logical and factual argument will have more impact than strong collection of quotes. I actually collected quotes from about 100 people. Maybe we should stick something like WBSS21's collection of quoted in WHE subforum so everyone could have immediate access to them?

Is here anyone of administration? Is Dastymay wrong or something could be done? Thanks in advance.

I think the article from the bodyguard was alright. I mean, it is things that we already know about Mike. Nothing "new" or "interesting" about him. I read some of it and I was like, "hmmmm, I find that hard to believe". However, overall, it was alright. I prefer a more realistic approach regarding MJ, but it is always good to read what some people say about the man.

Okay, so the person asking for the article from the magazine BIG! about Michael's visit to London in 93, my friend found it and sent it to me. She said it was a scanned article and some of it was hard to read, so she was only able to type of the letterpress. Also, she sent this picture of Michael in the hospital with Benny Hill, a comedian, from the same visit. So here you guys go. This is also a good read.

MICHAEL JACKSON

FIVE DAYS IN

LONDON

When Michael Jackson flew into London, BIG!Followed in his footsteps to see what he got up to. Here are the exclusive behind- the- scenes of his trip!

DAY ONE
Wednesday, February 19

Michael flew in from his tour of Africa to Stansted Airport, Essex. To save him from going to customs, officers boarded his private aero plane, which is loaded with toys! Michael and his 10-year-old cousin Bret, then escaped through an emergency exit in the airport fence and drove away at top speed in a posh Daimler car.
Michael arrived at the Dorchester, a hotel where the cheapest room costs 180 pounds a night! He gave the slip to fans waiting at the side entrance by walking in through the front door! He then booked into Terrace Suite, which has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, tow dinning rooms, a view overlooking Hyde Park and cost 1.175 pounds a night! His 26- strong entourage took over the eighth floor at a cost of 30.000 pounds!
11.20pm: Michael went shopping at Tower Records in Piccadilly Circus. He spent 45 minutes browsing round the store and bought 500 pounds worth of records, including some by old-fashioned singers like Neil Diamond and Doris Day. The store manager, Andy Lown, says Michael was really nice:” He seemed more nervous of me than I was of him!”

DAY TWO
Thursday, February 20

Michael spent the morning in his hotel then set out on a three hour shopping spree which included a visit to Virgin Records for more records!

2pm: Michael arrived at Foyles bookshop in Charing Cross Road with a growing crowd of fans hot on his trail. As Michael’s security guards struggled to control the crowd, he wondered around the shop, choosing hundreds of pounds` worth of children’s books, which his minders paid for.

3pm: Michael returned to the Dorchester where a fan grabbed his red sweater and was immediately jumped on by others fans. In the scramble Michael was knocked down and crushed against the hotel doors. One fan says he “looked scared to death”. He was picked up by a minder and made it through the hotel door uninjured. Michael’s sweater was later returned to him by police who collared the fan and got her to give it back!

8.30pm: Michael went to his favorite toy shop, HAMLEYS in Regent Street. Michael and Brett wandered round the whole shop but paid special attention to The Simpsons toys! “He had a great laugh round by The Simpsons display”, a spokesman for HAMLEYS, Peter Skinner, tells BIG!
“He came across as a very quiet and pleasant person. He asked me which were the best-selling toys in the country and spend two hours in the shop.”
Michael spent “ several thousands pounds” and bought a 450pounds child- sized yellow jeep, several remote control cars, computer games and Lego set. The highlight of his visit came when he was shown tricks by the store magician and then performed some of his own!

10.30pm: Michael made a short trip to the Rock Circus in Piccadilly which is full of models of pop stars and features a Michael Jackson waxwork. Michael was shown around by Rock Circus’s Heather Redwood and sang along to hits including Madonna’s “Like a virgin”! “He said he was very tired but that he was enjoying his visit”, Heather says.
“He didn’t want any photos taken.”

DAY THREE
Friday, February 21

Michael spent most of the day in his hotel room, apparently looking at the details of two castles that are for sale. A newspaper reported that he liked the idea of being a lord of the manor. But his spokesman, Jonathan Morrish, tells BIG! that Michael laughed at the story and definitely has no plans to buy a castle!
4.30pm: Michael visited the Walt Disney Shop in Regent Street. He spent about 10 minutes there but had to leave through a back door due to the commotion from the crowd outside. But BIG! can exclusively reveal that he returned after the shop had closed at 7.15pm. “He was very relaxed and seemed to have fun while he was here” – shop assistant Stuart Roberts tells BIG! “He was quiet but very friendly. He spoke to me about the products and chose everything himself. He sad he’d like to pop back in the summer.”
5pm: Michael arrived at his favorite London attraction, Madame Tussaud`s, for his fifth visit! Michael took his mum there in 1988 and this time he took Brett, showing him all his favorite waxworks, including Sleeping Beauty and Tom Thumb. He looked around the workshops where the models are made before seeing the new waxwork of himself! “He was delighted with it”, says Juliet Simpkins, who accompanied him. “He looked at it very closely, and then smiled and did a little jig next to it. He was very pleased!”
Michael and Brett stopped for coffee and then had a go on the rifle range in Madame Tussaud`s. “He was a good shot”, laughs Juliet. “He seemed really cheerful the whole time he was here. He was very chatty!”

DAY FOUR
Saturday, February 22

1pm: Michael visited comedian Benny Hill at the Royal Brompton Hospital. Benny was recovering there after a heart attack. Michael took flowers and told him:”You’re my hero.” Michael told Benny he has hundreds of his videos and then asked him to appear in one of his pop promos!
Later, record company executives, including his publicist Jonathan Morrish, visited Michael in his hotel room. “He was in great spirits when I saw him”, Jonathan tells BIG! “He enjoyed his stay and had a great time. He’s worked extraordinarily hard on DANGEROUS and before he starts rehearsing for the tour he wanted four or five days enjoying himself, which is what he had.”
That night Michael appears on the hotel roof. Later he sent a note to fans who were singing his hits outside. The note read: “I AM GOING TO SLEEP NOW `CAUSE I HAVE AN EARLY FLIGHT BACK TO AMERICA. I ADORE YOU ALL. I LOVE YOU. MICHAEL JACKSON.”
The fans shouted up to Michael to thank him and then stopped singing. Michael nodded off to sleep in peace.

DAY FIVE
Sunday, February 23

Michael left the Dorchester at 9pm to catch a flight to New York on Concorde. The hotel maids reveal that his suite was left in a mess. “It was a like a bombsite. He left videos and toys scattered all over the floor”, says one maid. Just before flying out from Heathrow Airport, Michael told waiting pressmen, “I’ve had a great time, I’ll be back in the summer!”

HOW PEOPLE TRIED TO MEET MICHAEL

While Michael Jackson stayed at the Dorchester, security was so tight that no-one could get in to see him! But some people went to extreme lengths to try! Here is what they did.

· Dressed as a pineapple: Journalist India Knight went for the outrageous approach but didn’t get past the front door!

· Booked a room underneath Michael’s suite: Reporter Alec Lom booked into the hotel with his six-month-old son. But even though he was directly underneath Michael and put his ear to the ceiling, Alec didn’t hear him dancing on the ceiling or even catch a glimpse of him!

· Dressed as a royal footman: Journalist Giles Milton arrived in footman’s dress with a fake letter from the Queen inviting Michael to Buckingham Palace! He didn’t get in the building!

· Dressed as Bubbles: Researcher Clare Farrow arrived dressed as Michael’s pet chimp Bubbles! But her monkey business didn’t fool security guards – they chucked her out.

· Dressed as Mickey Mouse: Writer Sinclair McKay tried to walk in dressed as Mickey Mouse, but security thought he was taking the Mickey! He was booted out.

· Dressed as Michael Jackson: Michael’s look alike Ronald BeHarry tried to get past the guards, but they rumbled his disguise and out he went!

· Dressed as a doctor: Three reporters dressed up in white coats and claimed to be doctors from Vienna visiting Michael. They were told to go back where they came from quickly!

· Dressed as a chambermaid: Actress Anne Smethwick got the closest to meeting Michael. She told a waiter she was Michael’s special personal maid, and got all the way his penthouse suite! When she rang the bell she heard laughing inside and security guard asked her to leave!

END

And here's Michael with Benny:

It was no problem denis. You should really thank my friend. She's a member here but doesn't post often. Pepsun is her name. She's a great person and hails from Bulgeria.

Michael is an extremely good person, but because people never listen to him, they don't hear him or his messege. It's sad. But he has such an incredibly kind heart and as his newphew said, "love, love, love, that's Michael Jackson." I think he understands the importance of that and other emotions on a higher level. I always call him an emotional genius. He's in tune with what's real and what counts. He's given his entire life and he only gotten mal-treatment in return it seems. But even with that, he's never given up on wanting and trying to help others. I like your idea of sending people who write hate articles on him quotes from those who know him. Maybe they could learn something from it.

thanks for that:D
I didn't know Michael liked Benny Hill... I used to watch him a lot a long time ago but now I don't find his jokes funny anymore ( I think he's gone if so RiP for him)

the part with disguises is the most hilarious one... anything to approach MJ lol
thank you once again for posting, Wannabe:D

Awesome quotes. It's a real pleasure to read it:D
Some time ago I saw a similar great thread starting with Leonard Bernstein's quote and now it's buried under a couple of pages of other threads. So I agree with Datsymay that it would be a good idea to gather all the quotes in one place to have an easy and quick access to them.

Yeah, Bravo was a God-sent during the 1993 allegations. Thanks for posting this! :flowers:

That trip to London was so much fun, when he went to see Benny Hill... he was in a really good mood that entire trip. Several of my friends got to meet him those days, especially when he went shopping at Hamley's and Disney, they would let fans into the store one by one and have their picture taken with him. (I was at the wrong place at the wrong time, mostly, but that's okay.) And he came out to the balcony a lot as well - throwing flowers and notes to the fans. It was freezing cold, but fun... those were great times. :flowers:

About that fan who took Michaels sweater - it wasn't the police who got it back from her. Some of the other fans talked to her and told her very clearly how rude it was what she had done, so she felt ashamed and gave it back to Michaels people and apologized.
